Communication Assistant/HR-Payroll Assistant

Hired as a Communication Assistant for the California Relay Service (CRS) and the i711.com website that
provides relay services for the hard of hearing and speech loss individuals who are in need of a teletypewriter
to communicate with others.
Stepped in to help the company, which had a unionized environment, as an HR/payroll assistant. A big
achievement was when I helped the company find discrepancies in the payroll system. By paying attention to
detail and with the ability to detect irregularities, I found that the company had continued to pay ex-employees
as if they were still employed.
Some of the HR/payroll tasks for the Cte-Vertu and Crmazie centres with over 300 employees included:
-Verified attendance, hours worked, wages earned and entered the data on ADPs payroll system E-time.
-Answered any queries that the Union (Steelworkers) had.
-Processed new hires, updated employee information, addressed items such as vacation, terminations, and
statutory holidays, amongst other things.
-Cross checking preliminary payroll reports vs timesheet forms.
-Created weekly and monthly statistical payroll reports for other departments.
-Responded to employee and manager payroll inquires in a professional and timely manner.
-Assisted the HR department with the hire and termination processes, including phone interviews and filing
employees information.

Scrap, Forecast Sales, Tool Crib Reports, Local Payroll and Overtime Reports.
Helped the company reduce some costs by becoming involved in a Cost Recovery project for Rework and
Scrap where I had the opportunity to use my detail oriented skills. We co-worked with production to revise
how the product was transformed from the assembly line to quality inspection before shipping. During this
process we were able to determine key areas that needed attention ending in a change of the steps to take.
This evaluation eventually saved the company money.
