Police Arrest Juvenile on Narcotics Charge and Fights with Police after Investigating Suspicious Auto
Police arrest juveniles on numerous criminal complaints

On Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 7:30 p.m., the Riverside Police Department received a call of a suspicious vehicle that had been continuously circling the block on the 200 block of Herrick and driving with no headlights. When officers arrived, they located silver Dodge Charger parked in the 200 block of Herrick Road with several individuals inside. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed there was a lot movement inside between the drivers seat and the rear passenger seat. When the officer made contact with the driver, a 17-year-old female juvenile, she attempted to start the vehicle and was going to pull away until given instructions by the officer to stop. When the officer looked in the vehicle, he saw a male subject lying down in the rear seat along the floor of the car. When asked what they were doing there, they had no response. When the officer asked the female driver for her license, she stated she didnt have one. As the officer asked the female driver to get out of the car, the male subject immediately jumped into the front seat and handed his drivers license to the officer. While speaking with the juveniles, the officer could smell cannabis coming from inside the car. Both juveniles denied having any narcotics on them and stated

they were going to drive away. At this time, the officers attempted to take both individuals out of the vehicle. The female driver did exit the vehicle as instructed by the officer. The male refused to comply with the officers orders and would not get out of the vehicle. The officer unlocked the door, ordered the juvenile out of the vehicle a second time which he refused. The juvenile then stepped partially out of the vehicle and became very hostile in his demeanor towards the officer. The juvenile then reached in his upper jeans pocket in attempt to throw something out. While the officer was taking this individual into custody, he began to fight and push the officer. He violently started pulling away and flailed his arms to defeat the arrest. Officers were able to subdue the individual and take him into custody. While searching the vehicle, officers found three individually-packed clear plastic bags containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for cannabis. There were also multiple empty clear plastic bags on the floor of the vehicle and cash laying about the rear seat. Charged with driving with no valid license, was a 17-year-old female juvenile resident of Brookfield. The vehicle she was driving was also seized by Riverside Police. Charged with possession of cannabis, resisting arrest, obstructing arrest was a 16-year-old male juvenile resident of Riverside. Both juveniles, after booked into custody, were released to their parents pending a Juvenile Court date. Riverside Police Chief, Thomas Weitzel, stated, This is just another excellent example of an alert Riverside resident calling in a suspicious vehicle he observed driving around his block with no headlights. That simple phone call to the police departments 911 Center reporting a suspicious auto led to the narcotics arrest and possibly interrupted further criminal activity from taking place.
