Consular Assistant (Bali)

The British Consulate Bali is part of a world-wide network of 230 Posts, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as our Consular Assistant. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To take the lead when dealing with customers at the counter, acting as cashier for Consular Services (Registrations, notarial, legalisation services). To assist the Vice Consul and Pro Consul with incidents involving British nationals, including helping issue Emergency Travel Documents, liaising with tour operators, airlines, police, immigration, prisons, hospitals and with our warden network and Honorary Consul. To undertake accounting duties and the collation of statistical information, sending details through to colleagues in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London; to provide administrative support to the Consulate. To act as the Consulate receptionist and respond to public correspondence. To cover for other team members in their absence.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills: The successful candidate will: Have a high standard of IT literacy, including MS Excel Have a good and patient telephone manner Have experience in dealing with customers Have excellent English communication skills (ideally supported by University degree in English or equivalent certificates) Be able to work within a team as well as being flexible to changing priorities Be able to act as translator and interpreter on an ad hoc basis (English to Bahasa Indonesia and vice versa) Be able to work under pressure and to multi-task Some flexibility may be required (the successful candidate must be prepared to help in the event of a consular crisis or serious accident by visiting a hospital or prison, which might be outside of working hours).
