7.0 METHOD a ! SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION 7.1. PREPARATION 1. Check whether shop drawings are approved by civil defense and consultant are issued prior commencement of installation work. !. Check the excavated trenches/ wall5floor sleeves/ opening si*es/ positions/ etc according to 'hop drawings. &. "ll fire fighting pipes penetrating through concrete wall5 slab to be provided with approved pipe sleeves. (. Check all e.uipments/ tools and materials prior installation works commence. ). Confirm availability of storage space/ storage and delivery method for piping materials. +. Confirm the area allocated for temporary fabrication and workshop on pro#ect site. ,. The re.uired personnel protective e.uipment will be issued to all the operative staffs prior start of installation works. -. "ll the material to be used for installation works should be checked for their compliance with pro#ect?s standards and specifications. @. 1ssue Material 5 E.uipment 8e.uisition forms 2ME8:3 for material delivery. 1A. "s necessary/ barricade or secure the work areas as safety precautions. 11. "ll installation pipe works should be in accordance with pro#ect?s standards and specifications. 1!. "ll hose systems shall be such that they can be operated efficiently by one person. 1&. " copy of the approved shop drawings are to be given to the site engineer and the fabricator prior to the start of the fabrication work.
1(. The pro#ect engineer along with the supervisor should check the site for the completion of the civil works and the portion of the area cleared for the installation pipe works.

1. Prepare all materials and e.uipments on site re.uired prior installation. !. The outer surface of the pipe has to be cleaned and free from welds/ splatters/ burrs/ dust/ rust/ cements/ grease etc for one coat of primer and followed by one coat of undercoat and the final coating shall be of Bsignal red= paint. The pipes exposed to view shall be painted with two coat of finishing paint. &. Clevis hangers ; 'prinkler pipe hangers are used to hang pipes. :or pipe risers/ C4bolts are employed for supporting pipes at riser shafts. (. Defore installation/ all lengths of pipe and fittings should be thoroughly inspected for cuts/ scratches/ gouges/ buckling/ and any other imperfections which may have been imparted to the pipe during shipping/ unloading/ storing and stringing. ). Measure length of the pipe re.uired with due allowance for the pipe fittings to be used/ cut the pipe to the re.uired length using a mechanical cutter. Ensure that ends are cut s.uare and burrs removed from pipe.
+. The pipe ends are then threaded or grooved as re.uired based on the si*e of the pipe and type of fittings to be used by means of threading or grooving machine. Pipes upto !?? will be connected by threaded #oints and !?? and above will be connected by grooved #oints.
