eavy industries in the country have grown


significantly in the last three years in line with the
rapid growth industrial sectors using heavy
equipments
particularly
mining
industries,
plantation industries and construction industries. The
growth of three sectors has also triggered high demand
for heavy equipment products.

The high demand has made the main heavy equipment


industries in the country including PT. Komatsu
Indonesia, PT. Caterpillar Indonesia, PT. Hitachi
Construction Machinery Indonesia, PT. Barata
Indonesia, PT. Hanken Indonesia, PT. Katsuhiro
Machinery Indonesia and others to keep on raising their
production capacity.
Based on the observation of CDMI that in 2010 almost
all leading heavy equipment players in Indonesia
succeeded in improving their sales including PT. United
Tractors, PT. Hexindo Adiperkasa, PT. Trakindo Utama,
PT. Intraco Penta, PT. Alltrak 1976, PT. Daya Kobelco
Construction Machinery Indonesia, PT. Gaya Makmur
Tractors and others. The most spectacular was PT.
United Tractors which succeeded in booking its sales of
5,404 units or increasing if compared with that in 2009
of 3,111 units.
Entering 2011, their steps are getting optimistic.
Reportedly, PT. Hexindo Adiperkasa obtained heavy
equipment sales contract of US$ 200 million from
several mining and plantation companies. Meanwhile,
PT. Intraco Penta has been in cooperation with
SINOTRUK China, a leading company in China. This
step has made INTA as total provider solution in heavy
equipment business.

The rising demand for heavy equipments in the country


actually attracts the heavy equipment producer of
China i.e. SANY HEAVY Industry Co.,Ltd which will
invest its capital of US$ 200 million equivalent to Rp.
1.72 trillion. Based on information received by CDMI,
SANY Group wished to make Indonesia as heavy
equipment production base to meet market demand in
Asean, Japan and Australia. Will the company be able
to realize its purpose?
Viewing the enthusiasm of local heavy equipment
producers and financing insurance industries, CDMI is
