Hello Davis-Hodges Family, We hope this letter finds you and your family doing well. The anticipation and excitement are building as the time for our biennial family reunion this summer draws near. We plan to have a real good time on the third weekend in July in our ancestral home of Sandersville, Georgia. The reunion begins Friday morning, July 18 and continues through Sunday afternoon, July 20, 2014. We encourage you to come early and stay late for all the fun and fellowship you can stand. Registration is $100 for ages 18 and older, $75 for ages 6-17, and free for ages 5 and under (5 and under T-Shirts are $10 each). Full payment by PayPal or by check or money order (made payable to Davis-Hodges Family Reunion) is due by June 17, 2014. You may apply 75% of any advertising sold for the reunion souvenir booklet to your registration. Ad sales, ad copy, and photos/graphics are due by May 17, 2014. Ten (10) rooms have been reserved from Thursday, July 17 through Sunday, July 20 for Davis-Hodges Family Reunion guests at three local hotels/motels. Book yours now at Days Inn Sandersville ($67/double), Villa South Motor Inn ($46/single, $50/king, $56/double), or Executive Inn and Suites ($60/singles [5 non-smoking)], $67/double [2 non-smoking/3 smoking]). Villa South is the largest of the three properties and will have additional rooms available when the initial block of 10 rooms is filled. The 2014 reunion committees financial goals are to: 1) honor God with a tithe; 2) fund 2014 Davis-Hodges Scholarships; 3) pay all reunion expenses; and, 4) retain a working balance in our recently established Wells Fargo bank account to be used by subsequent reunion committees. On the back of it is a scholarship application for family members, who document acceptance and/or enrollment expenditures between August 2012 and June 2014 at a post-secondary education institution, to apply for the Davis-Hodges Family Reunion Scholarship to assist in defraying school related costs. If youd like to offset some or all of your reunion registration costs by selling advertising space in the family reunion souvenir booklet, heres how you can do it: 1. Use the enclosed letter to solicit advertisements for the 2014 Davis-Hodges Family Reunion Souvenir Booklet from merchants you know and patronize, such as your longtime auto repair shop, hair stylist, barber, doctor, dentist, landscapers, dry cleaners, and others. 2. Ask them to help you raise funds for the Davis-Hodges Family Reunion Scholarship Fund (see the letter and ad form on pages 3 and 4). Make as many copies of them as you need. 3. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the proceeds of your ad sales will go toward your reunion registration. The remaining 25% will go toward printing costs and other reunion expenses. If your ad sales exceed your registration fee, you will have done exceptionally well by generating additional money for the family reunion and the scholarship fund. 4. The Davis-Hodges Family will host our biennial family reunion in Sandersville, Georgia, July 18-20, 2014. Since 1992, our family has assisted students/family members enrolled in post-secondary institutions through the Davis-Hodges Family Reunion Scholarship Fund. Over the years, this scholarship has assisted at least 42 recipients defray some of the high cost of attending college.
