Virtues & Benefits of Wudu, from Quran & Sunnah

Wadu Ke Fazail Aur Faide, Quran Aur Sunnat Ke Hawaale Se

WUDHU(ABLUTION): IN THE LIGHT OF QURAN & SUNNAH

Surah 5. Al-Maida, Ayah 6

. O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salat (the prayer), wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up
to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles . If you are in a state of Janaba (i.e. had a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body). But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favor on you that you may be thankful.

Allah says in the Qur'an :

"Surely Allah loves those who turn to Him and those who care for cleanliness" (2:222)

Islam encourages cleanliness. To ensure this is preformed, it is mandatory that our body and clothing be clean before performing our salaat. Our prayer will not be valid unless our body and clothing are clean

Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fill-up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves. Sahih Muslim Book 002, Hadith Number 0432.

WUDHU(ABLUTION): IN THE LIGHT OF QURAN & SUNNAH

WUDHU is one of the conditions of the prayer and without it our salah will not be valid.

The Prophet said, Neither is the prayer accepted without purification nor is charity accepted out of the ill-gotten )wealth(.
[NARRATED BY IBN UMAR RECORDED IN SAHEEH MUSLIM 2(THE BOOK OF PURIFICATION : 433, TIRMIDHI, IBN MAJAH. AUTHENTICATED (SAHEEH) BY ALBANI IN SAHEEH AL JAAMI 7384]

Wudhu is more than just being a condition to worship

Something higher and complex . Something that most of us neglect.. Something that makes it more than a routine before prayer

And that is.....

that the very act of wudhu is a form of worship in itself

Just Imagine! Every time we do wudhu, we're worshipping Allaah! What a blessing indeed!

Some benefits of Wudhu

Wudhu can increase Our Imaan

Three Ws: Who ordered this, Why are we doing this, What are you getting from it?

Who? Allah SWT.

(O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salt (the prayer), wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles ) [Surah Maidah:6]
Why? We are obeying His command and we love to obey Him What? This will increase our love to Allah and make us more concious of Him when we stand infront of Him in prayer and will InShaa Allah get more Khusoo.

: : 1 : 2 1)Certainly, the faithful have attained salvation 2)those who are humble in their prayers
Surat Al-Mu'minn 23:1-2

Wudhu can increase our love for the Sunnah

every time we perform wudhu, be conscious of the fact that we are following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam). It is the same way he did wudhu..... the Prophet that we love and honor and respect....and it is his Sunnah that we love to follow. Not only will Allaah reward us for following His Messenger (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam), but it will also increase our love for the Sunnah as well.

The Prophet said: 'Whoever loves my way of life (Sunnah) loves me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise.' (Sunan At-Tirmidh)

Wudu will expiate sins

Humran. the freed slave of 'Uthman. said: I heard from 'Uthman b. 'Affan and he was in the courtyard of the mosque, when the Mu'adhdhin (announcer of the prayer) came to him at the time of afternoon prayer. So the ('Uthman) called for the ablution water and performed ablution and then said: By Allah, I am narrating to you a hadith. If there were not a verse in the Book of Allah, I would have never narrated it to you. I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: If a Muslim performs ablution and does it well and offers prayer, all his (sins) daring the period from one prayer to another would be pardoned by Allah. Book 2, Number 0438:

Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.2:159 ( ) ( ) 'Amr b Sa'id b al-As reported: I was, with Uthman that he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comees, if any Muslim perform ablution well and offers his prayer) with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to for all times. Book 2, Number 0441:

So the key to sins being expiated is performing wudhu like the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) and then praying.
Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said When the Muslim or believing slave does wudhu and washes his face, every wrong thing that he looked at with his eyes comes out from his face with the water or with the last drop of water. When he washes his hands, every wrong thing that he did with his hands comes out from his hands with the water or with the last drop of water. When he washes his feet every wrong thing that he walked to with his feet comes out from his feet with the water or with the last drop of water, until he emerges cleansed of sin. (Muslim)

The Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said: "Shall I not tell you something by which Allah effaces the sins and elevates ranks (in Jannah)?'' The Companions said; "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah.'' He said, "Performing the Wudhu thoroughly in spite of difficult circumstances, walking with more paces to the mosque, and waiting for the next prayer after observing a prayer; and that is mindfulness. (Muslim 1/51)

Bright Faces,Hands and Feet

Narrated Nu'am Al-Mujmir: Once

I went up the roof of the mosque, along with Abu Huraira. He perform ablution and said, "I heard the Prophet saying, "On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called "Al-Ghurr-ul-Muhajjalun" from the trace of ablution and whoever can increase the area of his radiance should do so (i.e. by performing ablution regularly).' "

) ( ) Sahih al-Bukhari 136 Book 4, Hadith 2

Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah ( )said:

My people would come to me on the Cistern and I would drive away persons (from it) just as a person drives away other people's camels from his camels. They (the hearers) said: Apostle of Allah, would you recognize us? He replied: Yea, you would have a mark which other people will not have. You would come to me with a white blaze on your foreheads and white marks on your feet because of the traces of ablution. A group among you would be prevented from coming to me, and they would not meet me, and I would say: O my Lord, they are my companions. Upon this an angel would reply to me saying: Do you know what these people did after you. Sahih Muslim 247

Wudu is the Sign of the Believer

Try and maintain your wudhu at all times as this is a sign of a believer. The Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said: "Only the believer will remain with his wudhu (sustaining it at all times)." (Saheeh al-Jamee)

And even if you have difficulty in doing wudhu, like cold weather, or any other situation that makes wudhu difficult, still try your best to maintain it, since there is tremendous reward.

Use the Miswaak

Don't forget the Siwaak. The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) loved to use it and highly encouraged us to do the same. Ibn Masood said: I used to gather siwaak sticks from the araak tree for the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh). (Ahmad--hasan).

He (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said: Were it not for the fact that I did not want to make things too hard for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Siwaak at every time of prayer. (Bukhaari 2:21) The Prophet said,Verily the Siwak is purification for the mouth and means of pleasing the Lord .

Say the Sunnah duas after wudhu

When you finish wudhu, be sure and say the Sunnah duas that the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) taught us to say AFTER we are done with wudhu. Remember there are NO duas to be said during wudhu. There is nothing proven about that from the authentic Sunnah. Just START your wudhu with Bismillaah and when you are DONE, then say the following:

(Meaning: I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.) (Muslim)

(Meaning: O Allaah, make me one of those who repent and make me one of those who purify themselves). (Tirmidhi-Saheeh by Albaani) (Meaning: Glory and praise be to You, O Allaah, I bear witness that there is no god but You, I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You) (al-Nasaai, etc.- Saheeh by Albaani)

" .

"

O Allah,1 I submit myself to You, entrust my affairs to You, turn my face to You, and lay myself down depending upon You , hoping in You and fearing You . There is no refuge , and no escape, except to You. I believe in Your Book (the Qur'an) that You revealed, and the Prophet whom You sent. Reference: " 1 "Before you go to bed perform wudhu as you would for prayer, then lie down on your right side and say. . . The Prophet (SAW) said: "Whoever says this and dies in his sleep, has died in a state of the natural monotheism (Fitrah)." Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/113, Muslim 4/2081. ! ! ( ) ( )

The washing of heels during ablution

Narrated Muhammad Ibn Ziyad: I heard Abu Huraira saying as he passed by us while the people were performing ablution from a utensil containing water, "Perform ablution perfectly and thoroughly for Abul-Qasim (the Prophet) said, 'Save your heels from the Hell-fire.' " Sahih al-Bukhari 165, : Book 4, Hadith 31
