What are some of the health problems associated with anorexia nervosa, bulimia n ervosa, and binge-eating disorder?

Explain, from a physiological standpoint, ho w eating disorders may lead to health problems. Give at least three examples to support your answer. Anorexia, bulimia, and "eating disorders not otherwise specified" (EDNOS) are t hree categories of eating disorders. Binge-eating falls under the EDNOS category . Low self-esteem and a feeling of being unhappy with the body are two factors that cause eating disorders.. People who are anorexic or bulimic also have a war ped view of the size of their body. Anorexia refers to the obsession in becoming thin. Extreme weight loss, constipation, amenorrhea (menstrual cycle delays), a nd restlessness are some of the health problems associated with anorexia nervosa . Bulimia refers to the urges to binge eat in addition to the fear of becoming f at; bulimia is basically a binge and purge pattern. The binge-purge cycle is ver y dangerous to health. Purging allows acid to enter the mouth which then causes tooth decay, lip sores, mouth sores, swollen salivary glands and jaws, throat ir ritation, and inflammation of the espophegus. Broken blood vessels in the face i s an effect seen because of the force of vomiting. Some other health problems as sociated with bulimia nervosa are: an imbalance in electrolytes, dehydration, we ak muscles, and an irregularity in the menstrual cycle. Binge-eating refers to t he desire to overeat. Health problems associated with bingeing include: heart is sues, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
