Welcome to this second issue of the Collegedale/ Ooltewah Newcomers Guide. We sincerely hope you enjoy our efforts to bring you, the newcomer, a useful resource about our area. Collegedale is a family rich community in which to raise a family. From Our Independence celebration at our Veterans Park to Imagination Station, our very own Public Library to the abundant outdoor opportunities available here, we have many amenities that contribute to our community. Our Greenway walking trail system traverses nearly three miles through the heart of our community, following Wolftever Creek most of the way. There are several playgrounds at the western and eastern boundaries, as well as very nice bathroom facilities inside a modest pavilion which is available to our citizens for gatherings of all types. Plus, you will find our staff at City Hall courteous and willing to help you in any way they can. We hope you find a new home here and become a part of our family.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (TCVFD) was founded in 1952. It filled the need for fire protection for the three greater communities of Apison, Collegedale, and Ooltewah. TCVFD is different from many other fire departments, in that they receive little funding from city or county. The primary source of funding for TCVFD is through its subscription memberships. Members of TCVFD pay an annual subscription fee of $133, which is billed each May. The annual cost
of subscription memberships provides coverage for small fires, and also greatly reduces the burden of larger, more costly fires. Without a membership, fire victims can find themselves with a large fee to pay for the fire departments services. Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department is headed by Fire Chief Duane Pitts. There are also others officers and about 100 fire fighter volunteers that work to protect our homes and businesses. TCVFD has five stations. The main location, Station
1, is in Collegedale at 9755 Sanborn Drive. The other locations include the Mountain View Road Station, Apison Station, Ooltewah Station, and Standifer Gap Station. Each fire station houses apartments with full time
resident fire fighters. This allows for fire fighters to be ready at a moments notice when a call is received. TCVFD assists an average of 4 or 5 callers per day. The majority of these calls are for car wrecks, or medical emergencies. However, about once a month, one of those calls is for a house fire. Thankfully, though, when the call is for a fire, the Tri-County Volunteer Fire Department is prepared with a highly trained staff of volunteer fire fighters, as well as state of the art equipment.

come and go and stay! I have seen what works and what doesnt first hand. The one thing I am positive about is this: there is not one type of hormone therapy that is right for everyone! We have learned a lot, but we must never forget that we are individuals and we require individualized therapy if we expect great outcomes. That is, and always has been the basis for this type of hormone therapy. With proper testing and patient evaluation, our staff can team with your physician for a plan that works for you! Thanks to the increased amount of research going into hormone balance and natural products, positive outcomes are ever increasing!
But the crowning jewel is revealed when you enter the store.from the beginning customer service and patient care have been the highest priority! That commitment continues as we serve our community in an Old Fashioned way, like that found in the drug store of the past. A Pioneer in the Field
in our environment just to mention a few! But the one thing that by far exceeds the others in its ability to destroy our health is STRESS, specifically the adrenal glands. The state of the adrenal glands is, for the most part, overlooked in traditional health care. However, adrenal health affects our immune system, sleep patterns, blood sugar levels, our ability to lose weight and our basic hormone balance, to mention a few. Testing for cortisol levels using saliva samples is the most accurate way to determine the health of the adrenal gland. Kits are available at the Wellness Pharmacy. This testing is usually included with the test for hormones, but can be done separately. I have come to realize that it is virtually impossible to achieve anything close to a healthy state, lose weight, or have hormone balance when the adrenal glands are not well, says Terrero.
