Personnel: The Department continues to move forward with the hiring of a new entry-level police officer, getting all the necessary paperwork and documentation in order to have ready for council approval at the first or second regular council meeting in April. Corporal Hallback remains out of work due to an injury received on duty. We are working with the City's work comp provider to have him return to a light-duty position and/or resume his regular duties. Patrol: On Wednesday of this week, Cloquet officers were dispatched to Walmart for two individuals who were caught shoplifting. The two suspects were arrested at the scene and taken into custody without incident. During the search of one of the suspects, officers located six packets of heroin and three packets of methamphetamines. A 21-yearold Cloquet man was arrested and transported to the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center where he was booked on charges of controlled substance offenses. Detectives: This week detectives conducted numerous compliance predatory offender registration checks throughout the city. On Sunday officers responded to the Auto Spa Carwash on Stanley Avenue where an unidentified person(s) damaged the bill/coin changing machine and vacuum cleaner

machine stealing money from both devices. The Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the person shown in this picture. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Cloquet Police Department at (218) 879-1247.

Law Enforcement Study: This week staff from City Hall and the Police Department met to discuss how the process would work in the updating and formatting of the Police Department's policy manual. One of the recommendations from the study was to update several departmental policies. The idea behind our meeting was to get a proper flow so there is no duplication of work occurring during the process. Community Service: On Wednesday of this week, the Department took part in the 2014 Annual Career and College Fair at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. The event is designed for middle school and high school aged kids. It provides them the opportunity to explore possible career options before making decisions about what they want to do after high school. This is something that the Department enjoys doing annually. This year the estimated attendance was approximately
