year. A. Steps to do your presentation: 1. You must form a group of 3-4 people 2. You must choose two presentation themes out of the following: 2.a First theme (choose one): - The locomotor system: muscles and bones - The reproductive system - Fertilization, gestation and birth - Infertility, assisted reproduction and contraception - Health and disease: an infectious disease - Health and disease: a noninfectious disease - Drug addiction and health care 2.b Second theme (choose one): - Natural resources: energy resources, human activity and environmental problems, global warming and the greenhouse effect - Water resources: waste, human activity and environmental problems - Human population, sustainable development and landscape 3. Compile a bibliography for your themes, take notes (copy sources), work in a group to create a guideline and then give your presentation. The presentation should have between 8 and 14 slides (every theme) and will be presented in class during the month of May. You may not read your presentation but prepare to speak in English without assistance!

B. Guidelines for your presentation: The locomotor system: muscles and bones or The reproductive system
Your presentation will include: 1. A TITLE slide with your names, grade, year and title. 2. The important organs in your system AND a description of these organs including STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION. 3. An explanation of how your body system works with other body systems. 4. The name, description and symptoms of one common disease that affects your assigned system. 5. Give a few (2-3) interesting facts about your assigned system. 6. Contraceptive methods (if presenting on the reproductive system) 7. A bibliography slide listing your sources (minimum 3).

Fertilization, gestation and birth or Infertility, assisted reproduction and contraception

Your presentation will include: 1. A TITLE slide with the title of your theme and your name, year and grade 2. The important organs in your chosen topic AND a description of these organs including STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION 3. FIV/IVF (fecundacin in vitro or in vitro fertilization) techniques 4. What are stem cells? What are they for? Justify our interest in them with examples of their possible uses. 5. Give at least one ethical issue related to the manipulation of human embryos along with positive and negative consequences. 6. Contraceptive methods 7. A bibliography slide listing your sources (minimum 3)

Drug addiction and health care

The following elements are necessary for a complete project: 1. A short introduction to the disease which will include a short statement on each of the following topics: 1. The bodys defenses against infections (if assigned the topic of infectious disease) 2. The cause of the disease, an illustration or photograph of the pathogen (in non-genetic diseases) 3. How the disease is transmitted in humans 4. What human systems does the disease affect and symptoms of the disease 5. The severity of the disease (How "bad" is the disease? Is it fatal? How many people who catch the disease actually die of this disease?) 6. How the disease is diagnosed and treated 7. Prevention of the disease 8. Any other interesting facts about the disease
