RUGBY BOROUGH COUNCIL - JOHN BARFORD CAR PARK

An annual energy saving of 70% in energy costs and associated maintenance charges
The car park, heavily used by shoppers, visitors and towncentre workers, has become increasingly expensive to light due to rising energy and maintenance costs. The lighting was not as efficient as when installed due to its age. Rugby Council asked Ecolight to assess the car park and to propose high tech LED lighting, providing improved lighting at reasonable cost and with a realistic payback period.

Solution
Detailed survey of existing lighting and analysis of current energy consumption. Splitting car park into zones depending on usage and proposed installation of sensors in less heavily used areas. Matching products to exactly meet the requirements of individual areas. Managing installations to ensure minimum disruption to the car park operation during the busy Christmas period.

Results
Measurable reduction in energy usage while enhancing lighting quality and ambience through more consistent lux (brightness) levels. The lighting provides a more natural coloured light across the car park, with sensors to turn on lights in less heavily used areas. Reduction in future operating cost. Reduction in maintenance costs.
