Fighting for the Arts in Illinois

This handbook is intended to equip Arts Alliance Illinois members, advocates, and activists with the information necessary to make the best possible case for a strong arts sector in our state. Inside, you will find the most upto-date data available on the economic impact arts organizations and their audiences are having in every legislative and congressional district across Illinois, as well as contact information for each member of the 98th Illinois General Assembly and the 113th U.S. Congress and. With your help, we have the opportunity to influence the outcomes of state budget debate and strengthen the partnership between the arts and the public sector.
Who Are We?

Arts Alliance Illinois is the states leading voice for the arts and arts education, combining advocacy, organizing, and policy-relevant research to advance a creative and culturally vibrant state. For 30 years, Arts Alliance Illinois has stood up for artists and arts organizations of all disciplines, budget sizes, and regions of the state. The nearly 30,000 people who make up our network envision a world where the arts are central and indispensable to the health of Illinois.
Economic Impact
The economic impact numbers for arts organizations and their audiences in each district are based on a formula derived from Arts & Economic Prosperity IV, a study conducted by Arts Alliance Illinois and Americans for the Arts. The study is the most comprehensive of its kind ever conducted in the United States, with Illinois representing one of over 182 regions included.
