If you request a specific seat in the initial check-in, the seat characteristics (aisle or nonsmoking) are also requested for downline seat assignments. If you do not request a seat in the initial check-in, a generic seat is requested in the flight legs default seat zone. If you are checking in more than one passenger, all passengers must have the same type of seat request (all specific or all generic). If you are checking in a passenger with pre-reserved seats, the pre-reserved seat takes precedence over seat requests included in the initial check-in. If a requested seat cannot be accommodated, a seat map is displayed. You can request another seat, split the party, unblock and assign the original seat requested, or place the passenger on the priority list.
Check thru to the passengers final destination. If you include the boardpoint and offpoint codes, the passenger is checked in to the specified destination only.
Passenger Edits
You can enter any passenger edit from a list of similar names, or from a passenger list display
Priority classification is required when you are checking in positive space or non-revenue space available passengers. Otherwise, Sabre returns an error message and terminates the check-in. The maximum number of characters for priority code is five. You can indicate a thru (through) passenger by placing a T in the last character of the priority code. For example, D2T for a D2 through passenger The flights priority classification restrictions determine if a passenger is placed directly on the priority list or if seat assignment is first attempted and a boarding pass is issued If the positive space classification code is designated in the PNR, the classification may not change during the check-in process If the passenger holds alternate space, you must include the flight number of the original reservation in the check-in entry. This will update the PNR with the appropriate action at post-departure
Seniority Date
If your carrier chooses to require a seniority date for processing non-revenue passengers, a seniority date must be entered with the priority classification code. Use the following guidelines when entering the seniority date: o o o o Year only (YY). The month defaults to January and the day of the month defaults to one (1). Month, and Year (MMMYY). The day defaults to one (1). Date, Month, and Year (DDMMMYY) Length of Service (MMYY)
Upgrade
There are two ways to upgrade a passenger: o Upgrade a passengers class of service by inputting the flight number, current seat number and new class of service. If accommodation cannot be completed in the class requested, a seat map is displayed with an error message. You must then select a seat from the seat map The passenger can be placed on the priority list for an upgrade using a specific priority code that will be processed if the seat is available in the desired class of service
Multiple Passengers
If you are checking in multiple passengers, the following guidelines are applicable: o o o All passengers must have the same flight destination and be in the same cabin All passengers must be eligible for accommodation, or all must be placed on the priority list All passengers must request either all generic or all specific seats
Passengers are placed on the priority list based on the booked or meal-listed class of service in their PNR, unless a change in the class of service is requested If the passenger is placed on the priority list for a boardpoint, no action is taken on other board points in the itinerary until they are accommodated If the boardpoint requires a standby boarding pass for security reasons, one is issued for the passenger If a specific seat is requested and the agent has the proper authority, an override of the seat blocks may be done You can check-in passengers as a group, even though booked separately, provided that the number of names entered or selected satisfies the number in party being checked-in.
NO REC Passenger
A passenger is defined as NO-REC when a booking record cannot be found for the flight they are checking in. You can place a NO-REC passenger on the priority list in by using the Create Record and Check-in command pop-up window.
The accommodation process includes determining the seat request, assigning a seat and/or placing the passenger on the priority list, issuing the boarding pass, and updating passenger counts and flight information. After completing the accommodation process at the boardpoint, validation and accommodation of the passengers next downline flight is processed. If the next downline flight is on another carrier with whom an EDIFACT agreement exists, EDIFACT is activated through check-in.
When a passenger is checked in, seats are assigned and boarding passes are issued Each passenger can have single or multiple boarding passes Multiple boarding passes are issued when: o o There is a change of aircraft for the flight segment A change in seat assignment between flight legs is necessary
Passenger name, flight segment, and flight leg information are retrieved from the PNR If the flight is being checked in as open seating, no-seat-boarding passes are issued Information remarks appear on boarding passes and can contain one of the following items: Printed if the seat is on an exit row Printed on the boarding pass if the passenger is a thru passenger at the change of gauge city
The passenger information field on a boarding pass can contain one of the following items Printed if the passenger is traveling with an infant Printed if the boarding pass is for a child or for an unaccompanied minor

Baggage
There are three baggage options your carrier may select to use. The ASA (Airline Serving Airport) table for each airport specifies the default baggage requirement for that airport. You can change the option for a particular flight and date, but you must do so before any passenger checks in on that flight. Once checkin has begun on a flight, you may not change the baggage requirement. The options are: Pieces only P Pieces and Weight of checked bags PW Pieces and Weight of checked bags as well as Carry-on weight PWC
Based on your carriers default, the necessary options for baggage will automatically display when you check-in.
Note
The maximum number of bags checked per passenger is 10. Upon request for activation, you may increase the limit of bags per passenger to 99.
Excess Baggage
The Automated Excess Baggage mask pops up when the baggage you check-in exceeds the free baggage allowance, as determined by your airline. Upon collection of the excess baggage fee, check-in continues successfully. If your airline prefers that the check-in personnel not be involved in collection of fees, you can select to not use the Automated Excess Baggage mask. You may request activation of an alternative functionality that would trigger the system to send a prompt to alert the check-in agent when the passenger has gone over the free baggage allotment. The prompt will provide the agent the possibility to either verify the baggage amounts or to accept the amounts that have been entered. In the event that the amounts entered did exceed the free allotment, the passenger would need to show proof of payment before check-in can continue. This alternative functionality has the advantage of freeing the check-in personnel from collecting fees. For activation, please contact Customer Care.
11
Indicate the action you want to take. If you select Search for VCR, provide the ticket number if known. Contact the Sabre Reservations help desk for information on activating the TKT Edit functionality.
Carriers may choose to activate the ability to pass free text data from an SSR to the SabreSonic CheckIn airport check-in system as related data. Free text entered into a PNR with applicable SSR codes will be carried into SabreSonic Check-In, to be accessible on SabreSonic Check-In secondary passenger displays such as: List of SSR Codes List by Specific SSR Code List by Name Passenger Detail display
To activate this free text option, authorized airline personnel may contact Customer Care. The SabreSonic Check-In database will store free text data on SSR codes such as:
12
LANG - language MAAS - meet and assist MEDA - medical PETC - pet in cabin UMNR - unaccompanied minor WCHR - wheelchair (required for distance) WCHS - wheelchair (required for stairs) WCHC - wheelchair WCOB - onboard wheelchair needed
If a specific SSR code is passed to SabreSonic Check-In more than once with the same name and segment association, the text from the new item will overlay the text for the old item.

Dedicating your set to a flight is not a mandatory step for check-in. If you must work many different flights at the same time, you may choose not to dedicate and manually enter flight details when displaying the check-in window or the passenger list. Select Check-In (Shift + F1).

Additional Information
SabreSonic Check-In automatically adds the CHD (child) passenger edit if a CHLD SSR message exists in the PNR. However, the addition of a CHD edit does not place the SSR in the PNR. The edit code CHD is automatically applied to a passenger if the passenger name in the PNR has an associated SSR INFT OS (Infant Occupying Seat).
25
IR Edit
If your airline uses the Enhanced Synchronization of VCRs functionality (or ESV), you have the edit IR from the list of edits that can be added or removed for a specific passenger. IR means Irregular Operations you can choose to apply the edit IR to a passenger whose VCR is out of sync, and the check-in is inhibited because of it. With the edit IR, you are overriding the check-in inhibit.
Note
The IR edit is restricted to users with the EPR keyword SELECT. You can further restrict it to personnel with duty code 7. Please contact Customer Care for activation.
When you select OK, the drop down menu prompts you for the reason of the IR

Gender Check-In
Check-in with Gender is an option that needs activation from Customer Care. If you use Gender Check-in, every check-in transaction requires the gender information about the traveler. The information will be passed to the weight and balance systems for correct load and weight management.
Mandatory gender check-in requires activation. Gender edits are M (male), F (female), C (child), U (unknown), R (stretcher), and Z (extra seat or cabin baggage). You can add a missing gender edit before or during check-in. You cannot remove a gender that has already been applied to a passenger. You can only replace it with the correct one. The gender edit always displays as the first edit in the Edits column. Edits R and Z must come over from the PNR and cannot be added.
Objectives Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions
42
Checking-in, transferring, reaccommodating, offloading, onboarding, or offboarding of R or Z passengers must always be in the same transaction.
Note
The following information applies only to carriers using Gender check-in. If your carrier does not use Gender check-in, you may skip this section.
In the check-in window, the column Gender requires you to select the appropriate gender:
Type in the baggage information as requested by your airline. If the passenger needs a priority code and/or a seniority date(DDMMMYY), you can add that information to the corresponding boxes on the Additional Options pop-up window. Check-in is complete when all mandatory elements are present.
43
The gender edit (M) displays on the screen and also in the Edits column when you display the passenger list.
Note
The gender edit is always the first edit in a list of multiple edits.

Auto Return check-in allows the issuance of a return boarding pass when the passengers return travel is within a pre-defined time and applies to F passenger types only (Full revenue). The itinerary may not include any OA space. It must be online flights only. The time value calculation will be based on the STA (Scheduled Time of Arrival) of the origin and the STD (Scheduled Time of Departure) of the return flight. The passenger can check baggage on the outbound flight. The system will issue the return boarding pass, but the baggage for the return needs to be checked-in at the return airport. Multiple name check-in is permitted, provided the same data is valid for all names being checked-in. Automatic Return Check-In does not process for a passenger traveling to or from an APP, AQQ country. If passports are required for the destination, the DOCV will also be appended to the return flight to issue the boarding pass.

Overview
One of the benefits SabreSonic Check-In presents you is the Alternate Space functionality. Alternate Space indicates revenue passengers who are standing by for an earlier flight, or have missed their original flight and are standing by for the next flight on the same day. Once you have accommodated the passengers standing by for an earlier flight, the system automatically utilizes and updates the original PNR at End Transaction time.
Use the option Place on Standby from the label Standby for any Alternate Space activity.

114
Place on Standby List Display Complete Standby List Display Complete Standby List (with History) Display Unaccommodated Standby List
Place On Standby
Access the Standby label with Shift + F6.
The first option is Place on Standby List. The airline code, the flight number, and the date of departure auto populate to the flight that you have dedicated your set to. When necessary, edit the flight number to the one you are working on.
115
Follow these steps to put the passenger on the standby list for the later flight.
1. 2.
Check that the later flight has seats available. Display passengers PNR the segment that was originally booked is gone since the flight has departed. Book a segment on the later flight, using the segment status code SB, then end PNR.
3.
116
4.
Fill out the Place on Standby window with class of service, passenger name, number in party, and priority code. Add baggage information as necessary.
5.
Once you select OK, the system will check the passenger in on the priority list of the later flight and issue a boarding pass with Standby status to allow the passenger to proceed through security and to the boarding gate.
117
Note
Should your airline request a fee for the change to later flight you can do so here.
Check that the earlier flight has seats available and is still in open status for check-in. Place the passenger on the standby list of the earlier flight.
118
3.
Fill in the necessary information in the Place on Standby window class of service, flight, name, number in party, priority code, and any baggage details. The most important part in this window is to enter the Original Flight number, i.e. the one the passenger is confirmed on.
4.
Upon selecting OK, the system will display the passenger list of the original flight.
119
5. 6.
Select the passenger from the list and select Check-in. The system puts the passenger on the priority list of the earlier flight.
7.
At the same time, the system has added the new flight segment into the PNR with the status code DS. After the flight has gone through Post Departure Control PDC the DS segment will drop out of the PNR if the passenger does not get accommodated on the earlier flight, and the reservation is intact. If the passenger did make the earlier flight, the DS segment will change into the status SB, and the system will cancel the original HK segment in the PNR.
120
Note
It is also possible to check-in a passenger for an earlier flight by using the Check-In mask <Shift + F1> under the Check-In F2 tab. See the module Check-in for more details for this method.
121
122
Option 2- Add the DS segment to the ESV table as an exception o If the DS segment is in the ESV table as an exception rule, then the system will automatically bypass the need for the IR edit code and check the passenger into the priority list of the earlier flight, and leave the VCR in sync.
Note
For more information on ESV please see the module SabreSonic Check-In tables and SabreSonic Check-In Enhanced Synchronized VCR.
DS segment No ESV
Without the possibility of an IR edit and the ESV exception table, the addition of the DS segment to a PNR will necessitate an exchange before you can proceed with checking the passenger in to the priority list of the earlier flight.

A jumpseat is either 1W (for cockpit) or 1X (for cabin). Cockpit (W) and cabin jumpseats (X) show as boarded automatically when they are checked-in. Your airline may wish to activate a functionality that inhibits the automatic ON of such seats. Once the functionality has been activated, cockpit or jumpseat passengers will need to be onloaded as any regular passenger. Board a jumseat passenger by specific seat number, using either seta 1W or 1X. If a jumpseat rider subsequently deplanes, the jumpseat may be XONd.

There is a multitude of masks that can be accessed in Interact. For a full explanation of each type of masks, refer to the Ticketing for Interact section and peruse through the selection of masks that are applicable to your airline.
178
Customer Service Authorization (CSA) is a mask driven function that allows airline staff with duty codes 4 or 5 to issue an automated amenities voucher to inconvenienced passengers. This voucher can provide hotel, meal/snack, and ground transportation appropriate to customers during off-schedule operations.
The Customer Service Authorization mask operates from vendor information set up previously in the CSA Database. The database contains information such as hotel, car and ground transportation companies and their rates, as well as rates allowed for meals. Default data exists that applies to all stations, however, each station may make modifications to the database. CSA Database updaters must be signed into their station as a 7, 8 or # duty code and have the CSA authorization keyword CSADBF in their EPR.
For more information on this mask, refer to the Customer Service Authorization module.

Watchlist Clearance
There may be times you will get a system response upon checking in which says that the check-in is not permitted or inhibited. The reason is that behind the scenes, the system is matching the passengers name to names on the Watchlist . Please follow your airlines internal business processes when performing watchlist clearance.
A supervisor or agent with the EPR keyword SERCLR has the authority to clear the passenger from the watchlist.
Note
Should one person in a group PNR receive the watchlist response, you cannot check-in anybody else of the group until the watchlist clearance has been approved.
THROUGH CHECK-IN FAILED ON YY CHECK-IN INHIBITED CONTACT AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL FOR VERIFICATION
Note
Additional Information
The Watchlist check is performed not only at check-in, but also at Boarding time. This second check facilitates flagging a passenger whose name was added to the Watchlist after the initial successful check-in. If a passenger is placed on the Watchlist after having received a boarding pass, you will not be able to change the seat for that passenger. When any bag issuance or check-in results in the Inhibited response, a message is placed on queue RSXW. The person working the queue can remove the message manually.
189
Note
Your EPR must have the keyword SERCLR. Highlight passenger from passenger list From the menu under Tools, select Watchlist
