E. COURSE OBJECTIVES/CONTENT:
After completing Intensive Reading, student should be able to:
a. Build vocabulary through wide reading, context clues, structural analysis, and use of reference tools.
b. Develop knowledge of literary genres and aspects of author’s purpose.
c. Analyze literary elements for the contribution to meaning in texts.
d. Respond critically and effectively to text for various purposes.
e. Develop the knowledge and mastery of the Florida Sunshine State Standards.
f. To increase reading performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT)
g. Apply the following reading strategies effectively during the reading process:
A. COURSE GRADING:
Grades are cumulative through the end of each grading period and will be based on each student’s personal effort and
performance. Class work and notes should be kept in your notebook, which will be reviewed, once each semester and graded
for neatness, completeness, and organization. Student will be allowed to make up assignments if their absence is excused.

1.Be on-time and prepared for learning.
2.Respectful attitude towards peers, teacher, and self.
3.Complete all assignments honestly, neatly, and timely.
4.Responsible for keeping classroom environment orderly and conducive for learning and teaching.
5.Absolutely no eating, chewing gum, or drinking.
6.Cell phones must be kept on vibrate or silent and kept in pocket or book bag.
A. ATTENDANCE POLICY
Excessive absences and or lateness will affect your grade. You are expected to be present, prompt, and participate in all class
activities. All absences require an admit from the attendance office in order to be excused, unless absence is school related.
In such cases, the absences should be pre-approved with a fieldtrip form from the club or team sport. No credit will be given
for more than 10 Unexcused Absences in one school year.
B. PARENT RESPONSIBLITIY
For the safety, protection, welfare and proper behavior in class of your
child:
1. Please do not text child during class time. This becomes a major
classroom distraction that keeps child off task.
2. Please do not send your child to school if he/she is sick.
3. Please call the office for any emergencies.
4. Please make sure student leaves home wearing uniform.
5. Please make appointment to meet with teacher
6. Please keep track of child’s progress via school website.
