Male And Female Natures

____________________Phase One / Stage One / Day Six____________________
5 In all Creation we find the harmony of male and female. The union of opposites is that which creates a Oneness, the ultimate appreciation of Life and Self. We see the balance of opposites in the Yin/Yang symbol of the Tao, as well as in the Hindu image of the Divine Mother and Father, Radha and Krisna. In Kundalini Yoga, the illusionary separation of Nature and Spirit is dissolved with the hard won re-union of Shiva and Shakti. In Tantric Buddhism, the union of male and female saints and Buddhas symbolizes the experience of non-duality, the exchange of one's own tormented, limited sense of self for one's loving, universal, and selfless nature. In Christianity, the image of Mother Mary introduces us to the Divinity of the Son. In science we see the aspects of male and female in the differing and complimentary aspects of the left brain and right brain, and in physics as positive and negative electronic charges. Each of us is a unique combination of male and female, as well as androgynous. Men tend to have more of the male nature, and women the female, and yet there are many cases in which the natures are seemingly reversed. We can come to understand and appreciate these aspects of ourselves and others, instead of judging others to be unlike ourselves. In John Gray's book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, he explains: "Men mistakenly expect women to think, communicate and react the way men do; women mistakenly expect men to feel, communicate and respond the way women do. As a result our relationships are filled with unnecessary friction and conflict." Each of us experiences different combinations of male, female and androgynous energy, and each of us continually adjusts to the balance or imbalance of these in ourselves and others. Sometimes our male/female balance is disturbed by hormonal fluctuation, or by long term hormonal imbalance caused by physical or emotional distress and injury. In addition to the inherent combination of these natures, there is the moment to moment shifting of our perceptions and communication which can instantaneously switch from a male mode to a female mode. On the Microcosmic Flow Chart you can see, on the lower, left hand side of the page, the listing of male/female characteristics. Our consciousness shifts from Male/Male, through various combinations of Female, Male and Androgynous, from the first plane of existence up to the eleventh plane of existence. These shifts are happening every moment. At this point it would be very difficult to discern the location that any of us is in at any given point in time. After further body/mind detoxification, all of the senses become more acute, and accordingly each person's awareness of their male, female and androgynous states as well as of their corresponding opposing, conflicting and allowing natures will become clearer and clearer. If you look at the list under the heading "Displacement Scale" you can see that for every

"a" representing allowing, there is a corresponding "a" in the Male/Female list representing androgyny. So it would appear that the more we are able to unify and embrace our male and female characteristics, the more androgynous and allowing the mind becomes. The chart then indicates that conflict and opposing spring forth from the separated consciousness - from the female split from the male and the male split from the female. When our internal lovers are torn asunder, the soul is upset, frustrated and anxious. When we unite our natures and appreciate the qualities in ourselves and others that are male/female, then we are able to flow more, learn more and resist less. Start with becoming more aware of the conflicting and opposing characteristics of your speech, mind and actions. When you are talking at someone, you are likely invoking your male, opposing nature, along with your female, conflicting nature. If you are talking to someone, without a major sense of opposing, you are mainly in your female nature. And if you are able to flow with a distressful situation, you may be in all three natures, perhaps emotionally allowing, while still struggling intellectually with a sense of conflict, and possibly opposing. At this point it is not necessary or even important to know all of the details. The priority is to develop new habits of speech, mind and action that contribute to harmony and allowing for yourself and others. It is necessary to listen to your tones and to be committed to moving with fewer acts of frustration and resistance, which invariably create resistance and distress for others. Awareness, wisdom and personal balance will unfold naturally, elicited by the continued practice, in speech, thought and action, of compassion, consideration and allowing.
