The audience, In the 21st century, Malaysia is a country that is rapidly developing and preparing menongkah the current modernization in the developed world.Currently, Malaysia is very famous in the world but able to stand tall and sit equal with other countries that have also carved the name on the eyes of the world.However, behind the glory, Malaysians still haunted and social diseases that have long nested among Malaysians that is drug abuse.Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) has noted that from 1988 up to 2005 there were 289763 people drug addicts.The number is certainly worrying a lot of parties. According to the Dictionary, Fourth Edition, drugs can be defined as a medication or substance such as marijuana, heroin, marijuana, etc. which can cause harm to those who use it.In terms of an Islamic perspective on the other hand, drugs categorized as a type of khamar.Khamar is a term used in the Holy Qur'an, which means alcohol.Drugs deemed khamar because both functions that can cause intoxication or affected the sanity of mind.When talking about the issue of drug abuse, the fact that bitter to accept is the fact that teenagers are some of the people who fall into this symptom.Indeed drug fit was described as enemies of the State because the drugs are capable of dragging a teenager to escape humiliation and destruction at the same time destroying the future of the country that put his fate in the hands of teenagers.Undoubtedly, various efforts have been taken to curb the problem is global.However, to date, victory has yet to be heard drums. large amounts of money in an effort to create a country that is free of drugs.In addition, the country will lose a source of productive labour.As we know, a person who is drug addiction will not have a sense of responsibility.Therefore, surely they will not be able to give a commitment in performing their duties or work entrusted to them.Finally, the State would be the lack of a workforce that is productive, which in reality was required in developing the national economy.Thus, it is apparent to us that the State also received negative impact which broke out as a result of drug abuse. Last but not least, of course a lot of adverse effects brought about by the problem of drug abuse to individuals, families, communities, and countries.All parties should work together to ensure that this symptom can be contained so as not to become an epidemic that continues to fester in the community.The issue of drug abuse is to be addressed in the event there is a synergy of all parties because where there is a will there is way.As a nation that became important assets and national pride, we realization of the mission to create a new civilization was already sure to be esteemed.Come on, we rise together toward healthy living without engaging with the filth of drugs which can harm the self, family, and nation.Don't we ignore reminder of Muhammad to its followers to do good and avoid harm things to give.Despite efforts to achieve the objective of a country that has a society that is caring, cultured heart society free from the clutches of the evil elements elements, calm, and confident is just a little towards addressing social problems, but as a result is able to restore the image and identity of a nation itself. A Nurturing Community interest in reading Thank you, Mr. Chairman of the Council.Discreet , the assessors and respected colleagues . Hi and good morning. Title of the lecture that became my choice this morning is "A Nurturing Community interest in reading ." Why I chose this topic and what I want to peel out of this topic? Actually , a few days ago , I just finished the road to five districts in Johor to teach students information in writing . The last area I visited the district of Pasir Gudang on July 3 last . In each area , I will ask the students , who read a newspaper every day? Ladies and gentlemen know what is the answer ? The answer is very disappointing . Of the more than 100 participants in each district , not more than 10 people who read newspapers every day ! Even if there are read , they will only read certain areas such as sports or entertainment space . They also do not know the names of the leaders of the country let alone the current issues in the country. This is a reading culture of our society are real. It is therefore not surprising that the National Library of Malaysia announced that the average Malaysians only read two books a year . This situation is very sad , but that is the reality ! Because of today's youth are the future leaders , then the efforts to foster a culture of reading among the public needs to be done by all parties. So , ladies and gentlemen, today I would like to suggest a few steps that need to be done by all parties to foster a culture of reading in the community. Ladies and gentlemen, In my opinion , the government should be more aggressive in the culture of reading among the public. Previously, many efforts have been made public , but still lower reading level . In fact , Village Books in Langkawi which is expected to be an attraction for fostering a culture of reading, reported abandoned and not used even millions of dollars have been spent to build it. Therefore, the statements of the Prime Minister , Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last year , wants to turn Malaysia into a " Country Reader " should be welcomed by all parties. " Country Reader " is intended not only a nation of people who love to read and based on science, but also hope that people have the ability to continue to study, do research and make new discoveries . Ladies and gentlemen, with terealisasinya this, then terealisasilah also " National Book Policy " which aims to make Malaysian society , not only love to read but unable to produce and publish many books that fit and quality . Ladies and gentlemen, In addition to policy and government policies , appropriate infrastructure and user-friendly to be developed . Government can develop libraries in places that become the focus of public and easily accessible. Therefore, as a measure of the 4th , we need to allocate a sum of money to buy reading materials . Our society is not no money , they have the money . Almost every home has a radio and television , and even subscribe to Astro . For a fortunate few, they do not mean to spend on a personal and health care products , and so on . The only thing they do not to allocate a sum of money to buy books. Therefore, a massive movement to be done so , our society to plan spending more wisely by allocating funds for the purchase of books . It is hoped that in this way we will be able to create a rich but not even first class . Actually, this is our capital to be developed and rich countries by 2020 or 2058 as targeted by the former Prime Minister , Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. This means that , every year , around 1.5 million readers discover new titles . Ever since Gutenberg invented the machine in 1450 , 50 million new titles were published in the planet earth. Therefore, if you intend to read all the books, you have to live 250,000 years! In fact , even if you only read the title alone , you need time for 15 years! That means, every day , so much knowledge because knowledge is found growing from day to day. Therefore, if not inculcated a culture of reading in our society , we will be left behind and become a community like a frog under a coconut shell . July to coincide with the National Reading Month , let us cultivate a culture of reading that Vision 2020 is the 6th of " a society that is advanced and progressive .. " is not a mere mirage . The future of a country can be predicted simply by looking at young people who are resident in the country. My humble strong at this stage is to deliver a lecture titled , " Teen Catalyst Country " . Clearly evident that teenagers nowadays reflect a country's future . This is because , this is the semi- mature seeds that will germinate and take over the reins of the country . Next , if we observe and refine the current situation in our country, it can be said that the future of our country is not yet assured even like , " dilemma " because the majority of young people in our country is heavily involved in social ills.
