Montage Business Card Flier Event Ad Brochure Photo Design Imaging Web Page Logos

Montage
Description: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the use of typography. Process: 1. I first searched on google and found the images that I wanted to use for this project. 2. I then cropped the background picture of the girl to 8.5x11. 3. After cropping the picture I zoomed in to crop out the background of the girl and just left her silhouette. 4. I think created a new layer and masked it so that I could lay the waves picture on top of the background. 5. Then I blended the pictures together by using the brush tool. I kept the opacity at a 60% around the silhouette and made it 40% within the silhouette to make the waves more visible. 6. I then added typography to the picture. I used Photoshop to create this design. Message: One of my favorite places to be at is the beach. I created this design to show my audience the beauty of the beach and to encourage them with the words of typography I chose. Audience: Anyone interested in the beach. Colorized/Filter applied and where: I used the screen filter to lighten

Letter Head
Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo. Process: I created the logo by using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. I then placed the logo on a new blank page to create the letterhead. I added my contact information and add a line across from the logo to the information to better connect the two things together. To create the rest of the business card I added my contact information on the back and add some diagonal rectangle across the top to easier catch the eye and lead it down towards the information. Message: My message was to market my own design company. The logo demonstrates the shapes that I am able to create in Illustrator. Audience: My audience is anyone looking for a designer, either for advertising projects, invitations, whatever they need. Color Scheme: Monochromatic and Analagous. I used different shades of blue and grey. Title Font: Zapfino-Script

Business Card
Description: Create a new logo, not one that was used in the last project, then design a business card and letterhead. Date: March 1st

Description: Black and white promotional flier for a graduate leadership conference to be held by Vouant Communications. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I first drew up four different sketches to get some ideas of different layouts I could use for this flier. Then I chose the layout I thought would best represent the idea I was trying to create and beginning my design in Adobe InDesign. I used a simple design in order to give a straight forward message of the event.I left a good amount of white space so that I was not overwhelming the consumer. I was given the image, logo, and body copy for this flier. Message: My target market in this flier is directed toward upcoming or recent college graduates, who are looking to gain a competitive edge in the business world over their fellow graduates. Audience: Upcoming or recently graduated college students, ages 21-30. Top Thing Learned: The fonts you choose in your design can make or break your advertisement. If consumers cannot read your ad, they wont know anything about the event. Title Font Name & Category: Gills San Bold Copy Font Name & Category: Bookman Oldstyle

Event Ad
Description:I created an ad for a blood drive that hypothetically the local Rexburg High School would be putting on. I work at the Student Health Center on BYU-Idahos campus so when choosing an image to scan I was limited to health magazines and that is why I choose to create a blood drive advertisement. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used Microsoft Word to create this ad. The main tools I used in this ad were the text box tools and shape tools. Message: The message I was trying to convey was that in February the Rexburg High School would be holding their 3rd annual blood drive at the high school on a saturday afternoon, that way more people from the community could come as well, just not students. Audience: The audience is high school students as well as their parents and other young, healthy adults who are able to donate. Color scheme and color names: I used black and white, as well as some red. I used red to represent the color of blood, since the ad is for a blood drive. Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned was that when creating on Microsoft Word your text disappears whenever another box comes near it, so when moving boxes around I was constantly having to change the background color to be able to still see the location of boxes. Title Font Name & Category: For the Title I used Cambria. I also used Cambria for the text at the body of the page. The font used in the bubble is American Typewriter.

Brochure
Description: A three fold brochure Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I set up the gateway fold in Adobe InDesign. I split my brochure into a front page, middle page, inside 3 sections and back page. I used a sort of rain cloud shape throughout the brochure to tie each section together. I also used the same background and color on each page to tie them all together. I chose the colors blue, black, and white as my main colors because I think they represent the company well. I created the logo in Illustrator using the pen tool and then I placed it into InDesign, Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop Message: Inform my audience about the Cable Factory in Rexburg. Audience: College students, High school students, and teens. Top Thing Learned: How to properly line up all images and texts. Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic, blue Title Font Name & Category: Avenir Black Oblique Copy Font Name & Category: Arial Word count: 266

Photo Design
Description: Demonstrating good photography skills as well as demonstrating photoshop editing skills. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I first formulated a plan on what design I wanted to create. I wanted to choose two colors that are opposites and I chose red and green. I tried to pair them together and then begin to edit my photo Photoshop. I used these specific editing techniques: levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. I designed an 8.511 layout that includes my photo, and text. I incorporated my color scheme, color swatches, and color names into my design. With the help of the eye dropper tool I was able to match the exact colors and create a piece that has the flow I envisioned. Message: I created a typography ad that presents the message of one of my favorite quotes from Audrey Hepburn. Audience: My audience would be teen age girl, especially those who are struggling with confidence. I also think any woman could look at this typography design and feel the desire to be happier. Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned in this project was the importance of having an overall idea in mind before taking your photos. Color scheme and color names: My color scheme was complimentary and I used shades of green and red. Title Font Name & Category: BAM Its Andrea Medium Copy Font Name & Category: Minion Pro Regular

Logos
Description: Three logo variations for the same company. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):Typography is a main element in each of my logos. For the first logo, the one with the flowers, I found the flowers online and then used the stamp tool create a circle. For the color box logo I just created different size rectangles and put the letter K over top. I created all of these logos in Adobe illustrator. Message:With this project I wanted to try my hand at creating a few different logos that I could personally use in the future.Audience: Top Thing Learned: Illustrator is my least favorite Adobe program to work in, I find it hard to navigate through. Three Color Scheme and Color Names: Top Left logo- Split Complementary. Top Right Logo- Tetradic Bottom Logo- Complementary Black and White Three sets of Title / Body Font Names & Categories: Top left logo- Snell Roundhand for the name and Source Sans Pro for the design. Top right logoVerdana. Bottom logo- Trajan Pro 3 for the Ks and Verdana for the name. My favorite logo is the top left logo with the flowers.

Web Page
Description: A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I created this web page using only TextWrangler. I had not written any HTML/CSS before this. I validated my logo using the http://www.W3.org HTML validator. It was useful to have something check to see if I had any problems with my code. I used the colors from my logo as the colors for my web page. I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. The most challenging part of this creating this web page was making sure to add every semicolon, colon, and number signs where appropriate. Programs/Tools Used: TextWrangler & Photoshop Message: I am trying to portray the message that I can design clean logos that offer small details and designs. Audience: Anyone looking for a designer for logos, web pages, or any advertisements. Top Thing Learned: How to change fonts and colors using CSS Color scheme and color hex: Split Complementary. Gray #3f3e41, White #FFFFFF and Black #000000 Title Font Families & Category: Times New Roman, Georgie
