Avoiding Haram food in Japan (3 March 2012)

With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
We, as a Muslim, must be very strict about what we eat or feed our family and follow all regulations of Islam. We must try to avoid any mistake and must not eat or drink any food unless we are 100% sure that it is Halal. Any food which even has trace amounts of Haram ingredients must be avoided. Following is a list of key Haram ingredients frequently used in Japanese food items. (1) Pork:

Most of the case, fat comes from animal and is Haram to consume. Vegetable (10) Fat: driven fat is Halal. (11) Consomme: . It is a type of clear soup or powder made by adding meats with vegetables. It is Haram to consume as the meat is not Halal. Mostly used in potato chips. (12) Tuna Onigiri: Sometimes Pork is mixed with Tuna. (13) Canned Fish, Miso and Sushi: With some exceptions, these contain small amount of Alcohol. (14) All kind of Ramen includes pork. The best for a Muslim who lives in Japan would be to learn a few Kanji and Kana, identify Haram ingredients on food labels or ask the shop keepers about ingredients, be 100% sure and then consume it.
