Carlos Ochoa February 29, 1996 Mechanical Engineering Describe your education goals and why the WGH PTO should help you achieve them by investing in you I began my journey at Waxahachie Global High School back in 2010, my freshmen year. Prior to that, I was attending Walnut Grove Middle School in Midlothian. Going into that transitional summer from my middle school career to high school, I was faced with a difficult decision. My parents were the biggest influence in me attending Global, but they gave me the choice to attend either high school. I originally planned to attend Midlothian High School and pursue my passion in sports and be with my friends. Yet, after a long talk with my family, I realized the education I would be receiving from Global, and pursuing an associates degree from Navarro College, would be a far greater benefit in the long run than just pursuing an unknown sports career at Midlothian.

Along with my parents help in decision making, if it wasnt for Mrs. Brewster who gave me my first tour of Global I think I would have never came here. She made me feel welcomed and helped me realize how much a family environment the school had. Along with that warm vibe of friendliness that the students gave off, the small classroom settings, and project based learning, I felt at home when I walked in and I knew I could make a difference here one day. In the end, attending Waxahachie Global High School has been one of the best decisions in my life

Thanks to the influential classes at Global, especially with the career and technology classes offered, in college I hope to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in aerospace. I currently work at Nichols Auto Service as a technician during the weekdays, and on the weekends I do volunteer work at Mid-Way Regional Airport as a line boy. At Mid-Way I help pull out gliders and get them ready for flight. For the past year I have been surrounded by two of my passions in the workforce and hope to one day pursue a professional degree in these categories. During my schooling, I plan to further my skill in these two fields and hopefully one day serve for the United States Air Force. A&M will allow me to graduate as an officer, and I hope to be a combat rescue officer and lead a team of highly trained airmen on missions or a fighter pilot, upon my graduation from college at Texas A&M.

With the help from the WGH PTO I would be able to help start my goals at Texas A&M and begin my next journey in life. Financially, anything would help greatly in pursuing my degree and help me make a difference for our nation while serving for the United States Air Force. Calving Coolidge, 30 th President of the United States once said, Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. My father shared this quote with me when I was young, and told me never to be afraid to dream or let someone tell you that you cannot, because you can. Through my persistence and determination and what I believe I can achieve deep down is something no one can ever take away from me. I will succeed and make a difference in life for my family, friends, and this great country.
