Since the publication of this article, the USPS has amended its pre-solicitation, claiming that the ammunition is a standard purchase for the Postal Police. This does not explain, however, why the Postal Police was not listed in the original notice if this is standard. As the federal government grows larger, more and more federal agencies such as the Dept. of Education and NOAA are forming and arming their own law enforcement divisions with hundreds of thousands spent on full-blown arsenals. Even the EPA has its own SWAT teams conducting raids on peaceful Americans. Expect to see more large-scale rearm and ammunition purchases by these bureaucracies as they become even more militarized.

he U.S. Postal Service is currently seeking companies that can provide assorted small arms ammunition in the near future, joining the long list of non-military federal agencies purchasing large amounts of ammunition. On Jan. 31, the USPS Supplies and Services Purchasing Ofce posted a notice on the Federal Business Opportunities website asking contractors to register with USPS as potential ammunition suppliers for a variety of cartridges. The United States Postal Service intends to solicit proposals for
assorted small arms ammunition, the notice reads, which also mentioned a deadline of Feb. 10. The Post Ofce published the notice just two days after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced his proposal to remove a federal gun ban that prevents lawful concealed carry holders from carrying handguns inside post ofces across the country. Ironically the Postal Service isnt the rst non-law enforcement agency seeking rearms and ammunition. Since 2001, the U.S. Dept. of Education has been building a massive arsenal through purchases orchestrated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and
Firearms. The Education Dept. has spent over $80,000 so far on Glock pistols and over $17,000 on Remington shotguns. Back in July, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also purchased 72,000 rounds of .40 Smith & Wesson, following a 2012 purchase for 46,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point by the National Weather Service. NOAA spokesperson Scott Smullen responded to concerns over the weather service purchase by stating that it was meant for the NOAA Fisheries Ofce of Law Enforcement for its bi-annual target qualications and

That seems excessive considering that JHP ammunition is typically several times more expensive than practice rounds, which can usually be found in equivalent power loadings and thus offer similar recoil characteristics as duty rounds. Including mass purchases by the Dept. of Homeland Security, non-military federal agencies combined have purchased an estimated amount of over two billion rounds of ammunition in the past two years. Additionally, the U.S. Army bought almost 600,000 Soviet AK-47 magazines last fall, enough to hold nearly 18,000,000 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammo which is not standard-issue for either the U.S. military or even NATO. It would take a Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy, one of the largest cargo aircraft in the world, two trips to haul that many magazines. A month prior, the army purchased nearly 3,000,000 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammo, a huge amount but still only 1/6th of what the magazines purchased can hold in total. The Feds have also spent millions on riot control measures in addition to the ammo acquisitions. Earlier this month, Homeland Security spent over $58 million on hiring security details for just two Social Security ofces in Maryland. DHS also spent $80 million on armed guards to protect government buildings in New York and sought even more guards for federal facilities in Wisconsin and Minnesota. While the government gears up for civil unrest and stockpiles ammo without limit, private gun owners on the other hand are nding ammunition shelves empty at gun stores across America, including shortages of once-common cartridges such as .22 Long Rie.

ast January, Infowars reported on a safety exercise involving police, national guard and emergency management officials in Portsmouth, Ohio. The premise of that exercise was that individuals disgruntled over the governments interpretation of the Second Amendment plotted to use weapons of mass destruction to terrorize the local community. In February the investigative non-profit Media Trackers posted documents released by the Ohio National Guards 52nd Civil Support Team a full year after the exercise. The documents reveal a deliberate effort to portray Second Amendment supporters as racist right-wing terrorists who use chemical weapons on school children. On the chalkboard as well as the tables there were several statements about protecting Gun Rights and Second Amendment rights, a scenario document received by Media Trackers dated January 17, 2013 states. According to the fictional account used in the exercise, the leader of the Second Amendment group was a white nationalist going by the name William Pierce. No apology to Ohioans who supported limited government and the Second Amendment appears to be forthcoming, writes Jesse Hathaway for Media Trackers. Scioto County Emergency Management Agency director Kim Carver refused to comment, telling Media Trackers she was not going to get into an Ohio Army National Guard issue that you have with them. Ohio National Guard Communications Director James Sims II said Media Trackers had inferred the scenario, demonized gun owners and Second Amendment activists. The Department of Homeland Securitys Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fu-
eling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment document leaked to Infowars in 2009 contributed to the current political environment where gun owners are increasingly demonized and portrayed as mentally ill right-wing terrorists. The Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) also produced a document in 2009 warning about the danger of a purported Modern Militia Movement, including the likes of Ron Paul, Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin. MIAC and fusion centers around the country coordinated with the DHS to collect, evaluate, analyze, and disseminate information and intelligence on the supposed threat posed by libertarians and constitutionalists, including Second Amendment advocates. Between 2004 and 2007, the DHS provided $254 million to fusion centers engaged in surveilling Americans considered a terrorist threat by the government. In 2013, the DHS released a report, Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970 to 2008, that employed the phrase extreme right-wing, ethno-nationalist/separatist to describe individuals and groups it claimed represented a domestic terrorist threat. The report takes its definitions from a 2011 study entitled Profiles of Perpetrators of Terrorism, produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. On May 1, 2013, Infowars posted a video portraying a mock news report produced by the Department of Homeland Security depicting American gun owners as terrorists. The documents obtained by Media Trackers provide more evidence that the government and its counterterrorism infrastructure consider American gun owners at the top of the list of domestic terror threats.

Mayor Exposes Bloombergs Plan to Completely Disarm Americans
Bloomberg uses lies and deception to push for gun conscations across America
might want to study Chicago, which has among the most restrictive gun-control laws in the country, as well as some of the highest rates of gun-related crime and killing, Tkazyik added. Depriving law-abiding citizens of their right to own rearms only makes them more vulnerable. In Jan. 2013, over 42 people were murdered in Chicago, Ill., which has the strictest gun control laws in the country. Chicago police seized over 7,400 guns used in crimes in 2012 alone even though only around 7,600 Chicago residents have rearm permits, clear proof that violent criminals do not obey gun laws. The citys politicians have basically granted criminals a subsidy by disarming the population, which makes it easier for criminals to beat, rape and kill residents. Bloomberg wants every city in America to be just like Chicago and hes misleading the public into believing that gun control will make them safer. Additionally, prisons will be lled with peaceful Americans who violated the victimless crimes that are gun control laws. For example, a New Jersey judge sentenced former police ofcer Dustin S. Reininger to ve years in prison after he was arrested in 2009 for carrying rearms in the back of his vehicle during his move from Maine to Texas. Even though federal law provides safe passage for a driver transporting rearms through a restrictive jurisdiction such as New Jersey, the jury never heard about the law during Reiningers trial. An appeals court also claimed that the law didnt apply in his case because the SUV he was driving did not have a trunk. This is what Bloomberg wants in America: citizens such as Reininger to be victimized by both the system and by criminals. Others have also been victimized throughout history as governments around the world passed gun control laws to disarm and later oppress their populations. In 1929, the Soviet Union enacted gun control and over the next 25 years, around 20 million disarmed dissidents were rounded up and killed. Germany also established gun control in 1938 and by 1945, at least 13 million defenseless people were murdered. The Nazis also inherited gun registration lists from the Weimar Republic which allowed them to quickly disarm their political opposition and cement their control over Germany. New York City began using the same tactic over 75 years later to send out notices to registered gun owners demanding that they turn in their rearms. Because the gun registry was already in place prior to New Yorks latest gun control law, all the New York Police Dept. had to do was compile a list of newly-banned rearms and identify which residents owned them. And unfortunately, theres no shortage of politicians willing to do the same in their jurisdictions. At a gun control event last year, Austin, Texas City Council Member Mike Martinez admitted that gun control is simply

In an announcement published by his citys newspaper, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Mayor John C. Tkazyik said he quit the group after realizing it was simply a vehicle for Michael Bloomberg to promote his personal gun-control agenda. It did not take long to realize that MAIGs agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns, he stated. Under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote conscation of guns from law-abiding citizens. I dont believe, never have believed and never will believe that public safety is enhanced by encroaching on our right to bear arms and I will not be a part of any organization that does. Founded in 2006 by Bloomberg and former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, Mayors Against Illegal Guns recruits U.S. mayors into its gun control agenda under the guise of making communities safer through gun control laws. Through this coalition designed to deceive the public, Bloomberg is pushing for gun conscations across America which will cause violent crimes against disarmed Americans to explode. Those who doubt this hard fact

a step-by-step process to completely eliminate the Second Amendment. While pointing at a sign held by a protestor which read Stop Gun Ban, Martinez said that someone needs to inform him that there is no gun ban currently, but because of the work were doing today, we will make [his] sign legitimate shortly. So you hang on to that [sign], he said to a cheering crowd of gun control advocates. And in a ashback to 1995, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Ca.) told 60 Minutes that she wanted to outright ban all rearms owned by Americans. If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in, I would have done it, she said. This is the true intent of gun control, even though many of its advocates whitewash the truth with a variety of propaganda techniques or by just simply being ignorant. For example, the organizers for the event at which Martinez spoke told reporters that they didnt want to ban guns even though that is exactly what Martinez demanded in his speech. Gun control advocates constantly parrot deceptive phrases such as common sense
solutions and we dont want to ban guns when selling their agenda which will only lead to the complete disarmament of the population by authoritarians. Fortunately, on the other hand, Mayor Tkazyik is joining an ever-increasing list of public ofcials who have denounced gun control, including many of his fellow mayors. Nearly 50 pro-Second Amendment mayors have left the organization [MAIG], he said. They left for the same reason I did. In the same vein, Detroits Police Chief James Craig told reporters last month that legal gun owners deter crime. Coming from California, where it takes an act of Congress to get a concealed weapon permit, I got to Maine, where they give out lots of Carrying Concealed Weapon [permits], and I had a stack of CCW permits I was denying; that was my orientation, he said. I changed my orientation real quick; Maine is one of the safest places in America. Clearly, suspects knew that good Americans were armed. And last year, Erie Co., N.Y. Sheriff Timothy B. Howard publicly announced that his department would not enforce New Yorks latest gun control law, the SAFE Act.
Its an unenforceable law and I believe it will ultimately be declared unconstitutional, he said to reporters. Do you want law enforcement people that will say I will do this because Im told to do this, even if I know its wrong? It is refreshing to see elected ofcials serving their constituents while also respecting individual rights, unlike Bloomberg and other gun control advocates who are using lies and deception to push for gun conscations across America. On a nal note, it is important to realize that gun control ties into a broader agenda to condition Americans into becoming dependent on the system in a collectivist society where individual rights cannot ourish. In order for authoritarians to establish a tiny elite at the top who centrally control everything, they must take power from the people. That is why there are so many attacks on rugged individualism, particularly gun owners who are dependent on themselves for their own safety and the safety of their families. People are being pushed away from the John Wayne lifestyle of strong individualism because tyrants get their power from making individuals slaves.

Old Testament Incites Violence Against Gays
uck Dynasty star Phil Robertsons views on homosexuality have been condemned by many as hate speech, yet his words were innitely less savage than those contained in the Old Testament. If we are to accept that Robertsons rhetoric represents hate speech, then the Bible should immediately be banned because it openly incites violence against gays. Compare what Robertson told GQ Magazine to what appears in Leviticus 20:13. Robertson: It seems like, to me, a vagina as a man would be more desirable than a mans anus. Thats just me. Im just thinking: Theres more there! Shes got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what Im saying? But hey, sin: Its not logical, my man. Its just not logical Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men. Leviticus 20:13: If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them. (NASB) If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (ESV) Robertson also paraphrased another
part of the Bible Corinthians when he stated, Dont be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlersthey wont inherit the kingdom of God. Dont deceive yourself. Its not right. Robertson expresses his disagreement with the homosexual lifestyle and characterizes it as a sin. The Bible characterizes homosexuality not only as a sin but as an abomination punishable by death. According to the Supreme Court, hate speech is permissible under the First Amendment unless it is likely to lead to imminent hate violence. Since the Bible openly and aggressively advocates that homosexuals be put to death, it can easily be argued that such rhetoric is likely to lead to imminent hate-driven violence. Indeed, there have been numerous cases around the world of pastors being arrested under hate speech laws for quoting Bible passages which relate to homosexuality. Given that conclusion, the characterization of Robertsons words as hate speech must automatically mean that the Bible to an even greater degree also represents hate speech and should immediately be withdrawn from 37 million Christian churches worldwide and treated in the future only as a historical relic.

221 Percent Increase In One Year?Why Are So Many People Renouncing American Citizenship?
A Look Into The Reasons Behind This Growing Trend
he number of Americans that renounced their citizenship was 221 percent higher in 2013 than it was in 2012. That is a staggering figure, and it is symptomatic of a larger trend. In recent years, a lot of really good people with very deep roots in this country have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the United States permanently. A few actually go to the trouble to renounce their citizenship, and that is mostly done for tax purposes. But most willingly choose to leave America for other reasons. Some were very serious when they said they would leave the U.S. if Barack Obama got a second term, some (such as Jesse Ventura) are dismayed at how our freedoms and liberties are eroding and are alarmed at the rise of the Big Brother police state, some are absolutely disgusted by the social and moral decay that is eating away at the foundations of our society, and there are yet others that consider the grass to be greener on the other side of the planet. Personally, I have a number of friends that have made the very hard decision to relocate their families thousands of miles away because they see what is coming to America and they believe that there isnt any hope of turning things around at this point. I also have a lot of friends that are determined to stay in the United States no matter what. When it comes to the future of America, almost everyone has a very strong opinion, and these are discussions that we need to start having. Once upon a time, the United States was seen as the land of opportunity all over the globe and it seemed like everyone wanted to come here. But now that is all changing. As we have abandoned the principles that this country was founded upon, our economy has gone steadily downhill. As I recently wrote about, the middle class in America is slowly dying. As millions of good paying jobs have been shipped out of the country, the competition for the remaining jobs has become quite intense. At this point, there is

even tremendous competition for minimum wage jobs. Compared to exactly six years ago, 1,154,000 fewer Americans have jobs. Meanwhile, our population has gotten significantly larger since then. There simply are not enough jobs for everyone, and we continue to fall even farther behind. In January, the economy only added 113,000 jobs and in December the economy only added 75,000 jobs. Both of those figures are well below what we need just to keep up with population growth. Looking ahead, things look even more troubling. The number of planned job cuts in January was 12 percent higher than 12 months earlier, and it was actually 47 percent higher than in December. The competition for jobs has also resulted in an extended period of declining incomes in the United States. As I mention frequently, median household income in the United States has fallen for five years in a row, and the rate of homeownership in the United States has fallen for eight years in a row. Those that read my articles regularly probably have those facts memorized by now. In addition, a study that just came out has shown that the number of low-wage breadwinners in the United States is at an alltime high A staggering number of American households are relying on low-wage jobs as their leading or sole source of income. There were about 21 million of them in the United States in 2011, according to a forthcoming study by University of Massachusetts Boston economists Randy Albelda and Michael Carr. Unlike other studies which often focus just

on low-wage workers, the researchers looked at those who also live in low-income households. This way, they were able to strip out the teenager making $8 an hour flipping burgers but still living comfortably with his parents. Or the mom who works a part-time job in retail to supplement her husbands otherwise ample salary. For tens of millions of average American families, there simply is not enough money left at the end of each month. That is why many of them turn to debt to try to make up the difference. Consumer credit is increasing at an alarming pace once again, and when the next great economic shock arrives many of those families are going to be in for a tremendous amount of financial pain. In this type of economic environment, it should not be a surprise that anger, frustration and desperation are rising to very dangerous levels. It was desperation and a fear of losing everything that he had ever worked for that drove one 80-year-old man to become a methamphetamine courier. It was intense anger and frustration that drove a 58-year-old military veteran to package up cat feces and send it to employers that had turned him down Rather than simply grumble to himself or complain to others, a St. Louis man aggrieved by a companys failure
to hire him took another approach. Jevons Brown packaged up cat feces and sent it through the mail. Brown, 58, was sentenced Friday to two years of probation after pleading guilty in August to a misdemeanor charge of mailing injurious articles. The plea says Brown, a veteran, became frustrated with his lack of employment opportunities and lashed out at employees of companies that failed to hire him. This is just the tip of the iceberg. In the years ahead, we are going to see much, much worse. And if you do lose everything, dont expect anyone to care very much. There is already a frightening lack of compassion for those that are down on their luck in the United States today. For example, in Pensacola, Florida it is actually illegal for homeless people to use blankets or cardboard boxes to shield themselves from the cold So there I was with my wife and three kids, all of us huddled under blankets with the fireplace roaring, watching the temperature continue to drop from a comfortable 65 degrees down to 45. But outside it was 17 degrees and raining and sleeting, and if you were homeless, you had to consider that if you used a blanket to shield yourself from the elements, that you might be hauled off to jail for a violation of a local ordinance prohibiting using blankets, cardboard, or newspa-
per to cover yourself. Once you lose everything, society just wants you to go away. And this lack of compassion is going to get a whole lot worse during the very hard times that are coming. So it is easy to understand why many Americans would want to get out of this country while they still can. However, the truth is that the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side. For instance, you may be dreaming of moving to a tropical paradise where you can enjoy the sand and the sun every single day. In the past, many Americans considered Puerto Rico a good place to relocate to. After all, it is a United States territory and if you only speak English you can still get around pretty well. But you wouldnt want to move down to Puerto Rico these days. Right now it is in the middle of a full-blown economic collapse Puerto Ricos slow-motion economic crisis skidded to a new low last week when both Standard & Poors and Moodys downgraded its debt to junk status, brushing aside a series of austerity measures taken by the new governor, including increasing taxes and re-balancing pensions. But that is only the latest in a sharp decline leading to widespread fears about Puerto Ricos future. In the past eight years, Puerto Ricos ticker tape of woes has stretched

unabated: $70 billion in debt, a 15.4 percent unemployment rate, a soaring cost of living, pervasive crime, crumbling schools and a worrisome exodus of professionals and middle-class Puerto Ricans who have moved to places like Florida and Texas. In fact, Puerto Rico is a preview of the kind of societal chaos that we could be seeing inside the United States in just a few years Schools sit shuttered either because of disrepair or because of a dwindling number of students. In this typically convivial capital, communities have erected gates and bars to help thwart carjackers and home invaders. Illegal drugs, including high-level narcotrafficking, are one of the few growth industries. Well, what about South America? In recent years, South America has been an extremely popular destination for those wishing to leave the United States. Unfortunately, many areas of South America are experiencing full-blown economic collapse right now as well. As I wrote about recently, deteriorating economic conditions have resulted in widespread crime, looting, violence, blackouts, shortages of basic supplies, and runs on the banks in Argentina and Venezuela. The following is an excerpt from a recent interview with Fernando Aguirre who actually lives down in Argentina
Chris Martenson: Okay. Bring us up to date. What is happening in Argentina right now with respect to its currency, the peso? Fernando Aguirre: Well, actually pretty recently, January 22, the peso lost 15% of its value. It has devalued quite a bit. It ended up losing 20% of its value that week, and it has been pretty crazy since then. Inflation has been rampant in some sectors, going up to 100% in food, grocery stores 20%, 30% in some cases. So it has been pretty complicated. Lots of stores dont want to be selling stuff until they get updated prices. Suppliers holding on, waiting to see how things go, which is something that we are familiar with because that happened back in 2001 when everything went down as we know it did. Chris Martenson: So 100%, 20% inflation; are those yearly numbers? Fernando Aguirre: Those are our numbers in a matter of days. In just one day, for example, cement in Balcarce, one of the towns in Southern Argentina, went up 100% overnight, doubling in price. Grocery stores in Crdoba, even in Buenos Aires, people are talking about increase of prices of 20, 30% just these days. I actually have family in Argentina that are telling me that they go to a hardware store and they arent even able to buy stuff from there because stores want to hold on and see how prices unfold in the
following days. Well, what about Europe? Isnt Europe a lot more stable? Unfortunately, that is not necessarily true. In recent years we have seen rioting, civil unrest and depression-like conditions in Ukraine, Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal. And now you can add Bosnia to that list More than 150 people were wounded in Bosnia in the worst civil unrest in the country since the 1992-95 war as anger over the dire state of the economy and political inertia boiled over. Angry protesters set fire to part of the presidential palace in Sarajevo in protests over unemployment and corruption, as well as government buildings in the capital Sarajevo, Tuzla and Zenica. Just because you move out of the United States does not necessarily mean that you will avoid what is coming. We are heading for a global economic collapse, and the pain is going to be felt to the farthest corners of the planet. But of course there are many that will end up leaving the United States and will ultimately thrive. So what do you think? Is now a time for people to consider leaving the United States permanently?

he statement was drawn up by the European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility. It was released on October 21, 2013. Since then, 297 scientists and experts have signed it. Thus exploding the myth that the science is settled. Exploding the claim that a consensus about GMOs has been reached. Here are two excerpts from the statement: As scientists, physicians, academics, and experts from disciplines relevant to the scientific, legal, social and safety assessment aspects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), we strongly reject claims by GM seed developers and some scientists, commentators, and journalists that there is a scientific consensus on GMO safety and that the debate on this topic is over. We feel compelled to issue this statement because the claimed consensus on GMO safety does not exist. The claim that it does exist is misleading and misrepresents the currently available scientific evidence and the broad diversity of opinion among scientists on this issue. Moreover, the claim encourages a climate of complacency that could lead to a lack of regulatory and scientific rigour and appropriate caution, potentially endangering the health of humans, animals, and the environment. The number of scientists on either side of a question does not, alone, imply a final answer. But it does indicate whether the question is closed or still open. It does indicate that those who claim the question is closed are wrong. Completely wrong. In previous articles, Ive highlighted dangers and lies regarding GMOs. Here Im simply reporting that a consensus about GMO safety is a delusion. In other words, anybody can say everybody knows and if those people have access to, or control, major media, they can make a persuasive case. But the persuasion is nothing more than one voice drowning out other voices. resident Obamas state of the union pledge to act with or without Congress marks a milestone in presidential usurpation of Congressional authority. Most modern presidents have used executive orders to change and even create laws without Congressional approval. However President Obama is unusually brazen, in that most Presidents do not brag about their plans to rule by executive order in state of the union speeches. Sadly, his pledge to use his pen to implement laws and polices without
the consent of Congress not only received thunderous applause from representatives of the presidents party, some representatives have even pledged to help Obama get around Congress by providing him with ideas for executive orders. The Constitutions authors would be horrified to see legislators actively adding and abetting a president taking power away from the legislature. Executive orders are perfectly legitimate and even necessary if, in the words of leading Constitutional Scholar Judge Andrew Napolitano,
they . guide the executive branch on how to enforce a law orcomplement and supplement what Congress has already done. The problem is that most modern presidents have abused this power to issue orders that, as Judge Napolitano puts it, restates federal law, or contradicts federal law, or does the opposite of what the federal law is supposed to do. Political opponents of the president rightly condemned Obama for disregarding the Constitution. However, it was not that long ago that many of the same politicians were labeling

as unpatriotic or worse anyone who dared question President Bushs assertions the he had the inherent authority to launch wars, spy on Americans, and even indefinitely detain American citizens. Partisan considerations also make some members of the opposition party hesitate to reign in the president. These members are reluctant to set a precedent of tying the presidents hands that could be used against a future president of their own party. The concentration of power in the office of the president is yet one more negative consequence of our interventionist foreign policy. A foreign policy based on interventionism requires a strong and energetic executive, unfettered by Constitutional niceties such as waiting for Congress to pass laws or declare war. So it simply was natural, as America abandoned the traditional foreign policy of non-interventionism, for presidents to
act without waiting for Congress. After all, the president is commander-in-chief and he needs to protect national security, they argued. Once it became accepted practice for the president to disregard Congress in foreign affairs, it was only a matter of time before presidents would begin usurping Congressional authority in domestic matters. It should not be surprising that some of the biggest promoters of an energetic executive are the neoconservatives. They are also enthusiastic promoters of the warfare state. Sadly, they have misled many constitutionalists into believing that one can consistently support unchecked presidential authority in foreign policy, but limit presidential authority in domestic matters. Until it is fully understood that virtually limitless presidential authority in foreign affairs cannot coexist with strict limits on Presidential authority in domestic
matters, we will never limit the power of the Presidency. The people must also insist that politicians stop viewing issues concerning the separation of powers through a partisan lens and instead be willing to act against any president who exceeds his constitutional limitations. Thankfully we have scholars such as Louis Fisher, who has just published an important new book on presidential power, to help us better understand the Founders intent with regard to separation of powers. The key to achieving this goal is to make sure the people understand that any president of any party who would exceed constitutional limitations is a threat to liberty, and any member of Congress who ignores or facilitates presidential usurpation is being derelict in his Constitutional duty. he Sandy Hook school shooting was a giant, elaborate hoax and no one really died; thats the conclusion Wolfgang Halbig, a former educator, US Customs agent and Florida state trooper, has reached after ten months of investigation and multiple disputes with federal, state and school authorities. Halbig is convinced a deluge of discrepancies prove that the whole scenario was a scripted event. ..I suspect, in my professional opinion as a consultant and doing this a long, long time, I think its a scripted event that took place. I think it was in planning for maybe two, two and a half years, Halbig said recently in an explosive interview with American Free Press. Halbig is not your average conspiracy theorist. In fact hes not one at all. Hes a former educator and law enforcement ofcer who now contracts out as a national school safety consultant. His job is to help schools prevent incidents like the one that unfolded in Newtown. In order to do that, he needs to know exactly what happened at Sandy Hook. How do I tell people how to make their school safer when we dont even have the truth about Sandy Hook? asked a frustrated Halbig. See, there
is a nexus, I do this for a living. But school, state and federal ofcials arent making his job easy, and the states even threatened him for meddling in their affairs. They were in plain clothes, Halbig recalled, describing a visit from Lake County homicide investigators. They introduced themselves, they showed me their identication, their badges, and they basically said, We need to have a conversation, and I said, Well come on in, sit down, make yourselves comfortable, and then they read off my resum. I mean, somehow, they did a lot of homework.. Basically the next thing they said was if I dont stop, the Connecticut state police were gonna le charges and they recommended that I hire an attorney. The retired school principal, however, afrmed hes in the right. I said there is no way in the world that Im gonna hire an attorney, because Im following the procedures of the Connecticut state Freedom of Information Act. I mean, if anybody ought to be arrested, I said you tell those guys they ought to be arrested for failing to comply by the law of Connecticut. He says they also treated him in a threatening manner, stating if I dont comply that bad things are going to happen to me. Nevertheless, Halbig says, like any homicide investigation, Sandy Hook
is a giant puzzle, but one which the public hasnt been provided all the pieces to solve. ..[T]his crime that was committed is a puzzle and no one can show me the pieces to put together to nish this puzzle. They dont t no matter how hard you try.. you and your listeners will not be able to put this puzzle together, Halbig attested to host Dave Gahary.
Unanswered Questions
For Halbig, there are unanswered questions, lots of them. For instance, why in the immediate aftermath of the shooting were no medical helicopters summoned? Think about it: you have 20 children, 6 staff members who were supposed to have been shot. Theyre seriously injured. Wheres the trauma helicopters? Those are the quickest and the best medical services that any child or any school staff member can receive, and no trauma helicopters were ever requested? Halbig also called Life Star emergency services, who conrmed they were never summoned that morning. [T]hey said, Mr. Halbig we were never requested on that morning. We were shocked and surprised, we were ready, we thought we were going to go to Sandy Hook. They had helicop-

Halbig also questions why EMT and reghters, who were mere minutes away from the scene, were prevented from entering the school and possibly saving lives, and additionally, he wants to know how, within the rst 11 minutes, America was already presented with a death toll. Who declared all those 26 people dead within the rst 11 minutes? Connecticut law states that only a doctor can declare them dead, legally dead. Moreover, Halbig says the FBIs classication of the school shooting report is something hes never witnessed in his entire career. I can tell you [out of] all the shootings, never has an FBI agency ever classied an investigative report on a school shooting.

Halbig says next hes traveling to Newtown, Conn. and scoping out the crime scene, and that hes possibly planning a Sandy Hook event in Orlando, Florida sometime in the near future. He says he wont stop until he gets some answers.

Edward Snowden shocked the world when he exposed the NSAs illegal and abusive spying program. Instead of applauding him for his bravery and patriotism, the U.S. government labels Snowden a traitor, the page states. Join Ron Paul in demanding that Edward Snowden is granted clemency. f there was a problem with fertility, most men wouldnt know it until they tried to conceive a child. Everything can seem to be in great working condition, but low sperm counts leading to infertility are more common than we might think. As a matter of fact, contrary to popular belief, about half of all infertility cases involve some problem on the mans side of the two-person equation. Smoking Drinking Recreational drugs Some hair loss medications Illness Stress BPA Yes, BPA (Bispehnol-A), still found in plastic food containers, can seriously affect both male and female fertility. Though the FDA recently moved to ban the use of BPA in baby bottles, it is still found in numerous everyday products. And even those labeled BPA-free now contain a distant relative to BPA, known as BPS chemical, whose affects may be just as detrimental. Not only low sperm counts, but reproductive difficulties, including Anogenital distance, have been shown to come up from BPA-exposure in the past. Males with short AGD have been found to have 7 times the chance of being sub-fertile. This is a troubling statistic given that prenatal BPA exposure through parental consumption is associated with shortened AGD. Eight million couples struggle with fertility problems in the United States each year. But, many of these problems can be easily prevented, with common sense nutrition, self-care, and conscious awareness of those triggers that can lead to a low sperm count. You know you can bring a sperm count to zero by taking hot baths every other day for a month, Turek explained. Itll take you three months to recover. Itll go to zero.

FCC Researchers Would Pressure the Press on What to Cover
he American Center for Law and Justice is warning of an Obama administration plan to place government monitors in newsrooms via an FCC proposal that could turn every major news network and newspaper into little more than a state media mouthpiece. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai recently lifted the lid on a shocking White House proposal entitled Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs that would dispatch researchers from the federal agency to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. According to Pai, the program is about pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories. In other words the fairness doctrine on steroids. Thats right, the Obama Administration has developed a formula of what it believes the free press should cover, and it is going to send govern-
ment monitors into newsrooms across America to stand over the shoulders of the press as they make editorial decisions, writes the ACLJs Matthew Clark, noting that the plan would also extend to newspapers, which the FCC doesnt even have any business being involved with. Distrust in mainstream media has been on a steady decline for years, with a recent Gallup poll conrming that just 23 per cent of Americans trust the institution of television news. This lack of condence has driven ratings down, with MSNBC losing almost half of its viewers over the course of just 12 months, shedding 45 per cent of its audience. CNN also lost 48 per cent of its viewers over the same time period. The United States world ranking in terms of freedom of the press also recently fell to number 46, below the likes of South Africa, Slovenia and Lithuania. Earlier this month, the New York Timess own writers told a newspaper that NY Times opinion pieces are
now seen as irrelevant and have no impact on public discourse whatsoever. The FCCs attempt to police newsrooms is a desperate attempt to redress the fact that, as Hillary Clinton admitted, the Obama administration is losing the information war to other news sources whose audiences are growing. However, those alternative news outlets are not growing because of slick propaganda, they are stealing audience share from the mainstream because they at least try to act in an adversarial role to the state rather than being a conduit for its talking points. Every major repressive regime of the modern era has begun with an attempt to control and intimidate the press, warns Clark, adding, Its hard to imagine anything more brazenly Orwellian than government monitors in newsrooms.

Study is One of Several Identifying a Link Between GMO Consumption and Infertility
study presented at the Days of Defense Against Environmental Hazards in Russia has unveiled once again the implicit dangers associated with the consumption of genetically-modied organisms (GMOs). According to Voice of Russia, scientists from the National Association for Gene Security and the Institute of Ecological and Evolutional Problems discovered that animals fed GMOs as part of their normal diet eventually develop the inability to reproduce. A shocking revelation; the study is one of several that has identied a link between GMO consumption and infertility in recent years. And because it was conducted independently of the biotechnology industry, it came to far different conclusions than have most of the studies offered up for mainstream consumption in defense of GMOs. Using hamsters as the test subjects, scientists observed that consumption of GM soybeans, which have never been a part of these creatures normal diets, tended to slow sexual maturity and gradually eliminate the ability to reproduce. After several generations, hamsters consuming the frankensoy eventually lost their innate ability to reproduce. We selected several groups of ham-
sters, kept them in pairs in cells and gave them ordinary food as always, said Dr. Alexei Surov, one of the authors of the study. We did not add anything for one group but the other was fed with soy that contained no GM components, while the third group with some content of Genetically Modied Organisms and the fourth one with increased amounts of GMO. Dr. Surov and his team then monitored the various groups of cubs, including their rates of growth and birthing frequencies, and compared their ndings to the cubs diets. After several generations of cubs breeding with each other, the team observed that those cubs who ate GMOs as part of their diet eventually became completely sterile. We noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from [the] cubs and continued to feed them as before, added Dr. Surov. These pairs growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly. When we got some of their cubs, we formed the new pairs of the third generation. We failed to get cubs from these pairs, which were fed with GM foodstuffs. It was proved that these pairs lost their ability to give birth to their cubs. Early Life Exposure Can Cause Changes To Genes

The abstract of the study states: Early life exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA), a component of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, alters sociosexual behavior in numerous species including humans. The present study focused on the ontogeny of these behavioral effects beginning in adolescence and assessed the underlying molecular changes in the amygdala. Although both BPA and genistein in soy have been accused of mimicking estrogen, the two together seemed to subdue the effects. It is not clear whether these phytoestrogens [found in soy] are what mitigate the effect of BPA, or if it is something else entirely, says Patisaul. Thats a question were hoping to address in future research. Lead author of the study as published in the journal PLOS ONE, Dr. Heather Patisaul is an NC State associate professor of biology. For the research, she and other researchers divided rats into four groups: Group I was fed only soy. Group II was fed a soy-free diet. Group III was fed only soy and exposed to BPA. Group IV was fed a soy-free diet and exposed to BPA. Rats exposed to BPA were given low doses during gestation, lactation, and throughout puberty. IQ Foods: Processed Food Lowers IQ in Children, Nutritious Food Raises It

British Researchers Uncovered The Connection Between Processed Foods And Reduced IQ
rocessed foods are the staple of far too many diets, particularly in the United States where 105 million people have either diabetes or pre-diabetes. These processed foods are lled with white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, articial food colorings, and a wide variety of other toxic substances. Interestingly enough, research shows that these are some of the worst IQ foods. Given the makeup of processed foods, is it any wonder that children are suffering from IQ reduction upon introducing these foods into their diet? IQ Foods: The Findings British researchers uncovered the connection between processed foods and reduced IQ. They followed what 14,000 children ate and drank at the ages of 3, 4, 7, and 8.5 years of age, with answers submitted via parents through questionnaires. The researchers found that if children were consuming a processed diet at age 3, IQ decline could begin over the next ve years. The study found that by age 8, the children had suffered the IQ decline. On the contrary, children who ate
a nutrient-rich diet were found to increase their IQ over the 3 year period. The foods considered nutrient-rich by the researchers were most likely conventional fruits and vegetables. If children were to eat a wide variety of organic produce, superfoods, mineral-rich plants, and perhaps even consume a food-based multivitamin, the researchers would most likely see a substantial IQ increase. This eating plan would also benet the children or even adults in other aspects of their lives as well, such as better overall health & well-being. Processed foods have been known to wreak havoc on the body for quite some time. One joint American and Spanish study has even found that junk food products, particularly those containing trans fats, can make healthy young men infertile by damaging their sperm. Another study, conducted by scientists from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of Granada, reported that both junk food and fast food consumption can bring on depression. The link was so strong, in fact, that those who consumed fast food were 51% more likely to be depressed. It isnt surprising that some of the worst IQ foods are the same foods that cause numerous health complications.

Also in February, online activism forced sandwich chain Subway to reconsider their bread recipe after it was revealed they were adding a chemical to breads baked in North America, but oddly not in other countries. For the most part, Subway was happy to ignore food blogger Vani Haris petition asking them to Stop Using Dangerous Azodicarbonamide in Your Bread!, a chemical which Hari found is used in the production of yoga mats and shoe rubber. Americans want to eat fresh, not yoga mat, said Hari. But after appearing on the Alex Jones Show, the Food Babes petition received over 50,000 signatures, and the very next day Subway agreed to take the rubber out of our sub breads. Undoubtedly, their decision was in response to a deluge of signatures and highly vocal protests. The plan, Chick-l-A says, is to serve chicken raised without antibiotics in all Chick-l-A restaurants, nationwide, within ve years. Sourcing chickens fed antibiotics is a revoltingly common practice that helps fatten chickens rapidly for production. Undoubtedly, the prime mover urging Chick-l-As decision was Vani Hari, AKA the Food Babe. For over a year and a half, Hari says shes been consulting the chain on the top priorities of consumers and on healthy ingredient changes. Hari says upon receiving news of Chick-l-As decision, she literally burst into tears. when the news hit, I screamed so loud that every neighbor
within a mile radius must have heard me. And then tears of joy started rolling down my face, Hari wrote. Even though shes been able to get Chick-l-A to change their purchasing habits, Hari says she still wouldnt eat there. Let me be super clear on this. This announcement or any of the changes Chick-fil-A has already started making, does not mean this food is now healthy or I will begin to eat there. Next on my list of demands is the removal of Monosodium Glutamate (and various hidden MSG additives, like autolyzed yeast extract) from their chicken sandwiches. I think it would be absolutely amazing to be able to eat at a fast food restaurant with a drive through window again! But you wont catch me at Chick-fil-A until they start providing clean, organic and sustainable food! Chick-fil-A would be surprised
about how many people would choose an organic option if they offered it. Chick-l-As time table is also problematic. This strategy gives me some heart ache, Hari confesses. A leaked UN blueprint concerning the need to re-energize the move towards global government outlined a plan to re-brand global warming as overpopulation as a means of dismantling the middle classes while

That individual is described as an ally of al-Qaeda who has been involved in planning acts of terrorism. When Barack Obama or those speaking on his behalf, indulge in terroristic language, they are engaging in what the U.S. Supreme Court, in Brandenburg v. Ohio, described as a true threat. This cannot be said of the ill-advised and tasteless Facebook comments made by 18-year-old Austin, Texas resident Justin Carter, who was arrested with the help of a federal Fusion Center and charged with making a terroristic threat after his comments were reported by an anonymous informant in Canada. As a detailed in an infuriating report by the Dallas Observer documents, Carter is now in legal limbo, his life having been ruined by prosecutors who serve the same system that routinely annihilates people overseas. About two months after the Sandy Hook massacre, Carter was involved in a Facebook conversation dealing with a game called League of Legends. Indulging in the kind of hyperbolic verbal posturing that is typical in such forums, Carter described himself as f***ed in the head and said I think Ima SHOOT UP A KINDERGARTEN. Carter and his father would later insist the comments were the undisciplined outpouring of a game-obsessed teenage nerd. After taking a couple of months to devise a pseudo-legal rationale to arrest Carter, the Austin Police seized him while he was at work, held him for a month without charges, and questioned him without allowing access to an attorney. lying, told the terried teenager he would be released if he admitted to posting the Facebook comments. Carter fell for the ruse, and as a reward was transferred to a different jail, saw his bond increased to $500,000, and was offered an eight-year prison sentence. That coerced confession is the only thing tying Carter to a screen-cap of a tiny fragment of a larger Facebook conversation: The prosecutors are pretending that Facebook a company notorious for its eagerness to cooperate with the State wont allow them access to the entire thread, which would provide exculpatory context. A search of Carters home found no rearms, no bomb-making materials, no documentary or physical evidence of preparations to carry out a terrorist act, or an inclination to commit such a crime. After being thrown into the company of violent people accused of actual crimes, Carter was sexually assaulted and wound up on suicide watch. Carters family succeeded in publicizing the teenagers plight, and his typically indifferent public defender was replaced by defense attorney Don Flanary. As a result, prosecutors modulated their demands, offering Carter a term of 10 years probation in exchange for pleading guilty to a felony. Flanary observes, correctly, that the case should be dismissed. He didnt do anything wrong. The techniques employed to extract the confession are what dictatorships all around the world used to do, Flanary continues. Theyd say, `If you confess to your crimes against the state, we will let you go. Under the American concept of justice, Flanary points out, First you prove the crime, then you get the punishment. But now, in Justins case, [its] `Lets do the punishment rst and then well see if we can prove the crime later. The damage has been done. The same approach is used by the Obama administration in dispensing death from above on distant, unsuspecting people who are arbitrarily designated as suspected militants as well as any women or children who might be in the vicinity, and the emergency personnel who are taken out by a double-tap strike as they desperately seek to save the victims of the rst one. A suitably ambitious prosecutor, with the help of predatory police ofcers, can transmute social media trash talk into terrorism. ecoming more like Europe is not a good thing. But that is the path that we are currently on. For the most part, Europeans live in a socialist Big Brother system in which the government completely dominates your life from the cradle to the grave. Of course there are differences from country to country, but generally speaking the lives of most Europeans are very tightly regulated. You see, the truth is that high levels of individual liberty and freedom are considered to be dangerous by the European elite. They believe that if we are all allowed to just do whatever we want that it would result in utter chaos. They are convinced that life is better when those that are smarter (them) control the lives of everyone else. In essence, Europe is like a giant religious cult in many ways (minus the religion). With each passing year, the number of rules and regulations governing the daily lives of Europeans steadily grows, as does the level of control. If you try to live outside of that control, you could just as well nd yourself in a direct confrontation with the authorities very rapidly. Just consider what is happening in Germany. Authorities there have stated repeatedly that they do not believe in having any parallel societies, and therefore everyone must participate in the system that the government has established.
That includes all children. In Germany today, almost all forms of homeschooling are illegal. In fact, one judge shockingly ruled that one set of parents could not have custody of their children because they might move them to another country and homeschool them there A judge has issued a stunning verdict in a homeschooling case in Germany, ordering that the parents cannot have custody of their children because the family might move to another country and homeschool, posing a concrete endangerment to the children. Dirk and Petra Wunderlichs case made international headlines in August when 20 armed police arrived with a battering ram and forcibly took their four children from their home in Darmstadt, Germany, and enrolled them in public school. As WND reported at the time, the children, ages 7 to 14, were taken into police custody. They were allowed to return home three weeks later when their father and mother, given no choice by the federal bureaucracy in Germany, agreed to allow their kids to attend public schools despite their objection to the social and religious instruction there. Are you starting to see what I meant when I compared Europe to a cult? In Europe, government is God, and everyone and everything belongs to the government. Apparently, that even includes the

The savings of the European Unions 500 million citizens could be used to fund long-term investments to boost the economy and help plug the gap left by banks since the nancial crisis, an EU document says. Did you catch that? The EU apparently believes that they could use the private savings of their own citizens to fund long-term investments any time that they want. But what if you dont want your life savings to be invested in that way? Too bad for you. In fact, according to that Reuters article the EU wants to nd ways to mobilize more personal pension savings so that there will be a larger pool with which to potentially fund long-term projects The Commission will ask the blocs insurance watchdog in the second half of this year for advice on a possible draft law to mobilize more personal pension savings for long-term nancing, the document said. In Europe, they also tend to love any Big Brother technologies that will allow them to watch, track, monitor and record the activities of their citizens. For example, it has been reported that in the UK there are 1.85 million video cameras watching the population, and London has been called the

The control freaks in the UK are so paranoid that it is even illegal to carry a knife in public, but despite all of their crazy laws the rate of violent crime in the UK is still far higher than it is in the United States. Now, the UK has decided that all of the medical records for the entire population will be gathered into a single database. Its being promoted as providing valuable information for healthcare management and medical researchers that will lead to improved treatment. But this database will not be pri-

The following is from a Pew Research survey conducted a few years ago Half of Americans deem religion very important in their lives; fewer than a quarter in Spain (22%), Germany (21%), Britain (17%) and France (13%) share this view. So why has religion become so unimportant? Well, it is because that is what the government system tells them to believe from the time that they are little children. As I mentioned earlier, the government dominates your life from the beginning to the end in Europe. This even includes decisions about ending your life. In fact, in Belgium they actually want to extend the euthanasia law to children
Making the argument that everybody has the right to die, Karine Lalieux, a Socialist member of the Belgian House, is pushing legislation that would extend the countrys 2002 euthanasia law to minors under 18. Our responsibility is to allow everybody to live, but also to die, in dignity, said Lalieux. And in the Netherlands they actually have mobile euthanasia teams that go door to door helping elderly people end their lives in the comfort of their own homes. Europe is not a model for the rest of us to follow. Instead, Europe should serve as a stark warning to the rest of the world about what can happen when you let the control freaks get too much control.

Classic Neo-Malthusian Regurgitation Claiming The Planet Cannot Carry Much More People
uring a speech given in early 2012 by University of California-Riverside professor Richard Cardullo, the cottonseed derivative Gossypol is being proposed as an adequate sterilant to bring down the birth rate in the United States. Stating that the substances permanent sterilization effects on males is already being considered for widespread use in China and many third world countries, Cardullo calls it an option for use within the United States. In addition to Gossypol, the professor advised the attending students to lower their standard of living if the earth is to continue carrying humans on its surface. Interesting to note that the professor has recently been selected by the National Science Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to join the Partnership for Undergraduate Life Sciences Education (PULSE) program, funded by the federal government. As part of the universitys online science lecture series, recorded on the campus earlier this year, the professors lecture Is Earth Overpopulated is a classic neo-Malthusian regurgitation claiming the planet cannot carry much more people. If you want to minimize environmental impact, perhaps you should consider lowering your standard of
living, for instance. Cardullo also told people they could reduce human impact on the earth by becoming vegetarians: One of the things we know is the production of meat is incredibly expensive, he said. You are going to start hearing more and more about humans carbon footprint, and one of the biggest contributions to that carbon footprint is the production of meat. We could do a lot simply by just becoming more vegetarian. Although the professor tells his listening audience to lower their standard of living to minimize human impact on the earth, he stresses that this in itself isnt sufcient to lower fertility in the United States. Also, the professor continues, famine, disease, war and so on do not have the ability to effectively cull the human population. () we have got to do something about population as well. The United States, we are very afuent. we currently have a population of 313 million people. Altogether we gain one person every 15 seconds. If we want to take the population down to 150 million, all it would require in the next 100 years is to lower that birth rate because we are not going to do it through any other method, right? That would be horrible. If we want to decrease the population, we could do it in an number of
different ways. Then the professor goes on to point at the screen, on which are depicted several disease-spreading insects. These are all whats called vectors carriers of disease which we are familiar with () horrible things (). Im going to show you things that effect populations more than anything (), its those, states the professor as he points to an image of sperm. Many scientists want to know: are there ways, are there new ways, that we can control population or fertility rates, by targeting specic cells, sperm or eggs, so that individuals can make the decision to keep those rates low. A bit later on in the speech, the professor eyes cotton derivative Gossypol, which- as scientists have learned- cause sterility in males by targeting the sperm. Citing Chinese and American research on Gossypol, Cardullo mentions that Gossypol has the potential of killing humans, causing not just temporary but permanent sterility in males. () ultimately the World Health Organization argued against using it. But interestingly enough, there are countries in the world (such as China, Nigeria, Brazil etc.) using it as a permanent method for controlling fertility in males, which is an option. The permanent sterility effects of Gossypol were discovered back in the

1970s, and were further picked up by the main nancial contributor of anti-fertility drugs in the 20th century, the Rockefeller Foundation. The Foundation, it seems, investigated Gossypols anti-fertility effect as well as the possibility of using the substance for widespread use. The 1985 Rockefeller Foundations annual report underlined its ongoing dedication towards nding good use for Gossypol. Indeed, gossypol, a toxic polyphenol derived from the cotton plant, was identied early on in the Foundations research as an effective sterilant. The question was, how to implement or integrate the toxic substance into crops. Another long-term interest of the Foundation has been gossypol, a compound that has been shown to have an anti-fertility effect in men, By the end
of 1985, the Foundation had made grants totaling approximately $1.6 million in an effort to support and stimulate scientic investigations on the safety and efcacy of gossypol. In the 1986 Rockefeller Foundation annual report, the organization admits funding research into the use of fertility-reducing compounds in relation to food for widespread use: Male contraceptive studies are focused on gossypol, a natural substance extracted from the cotton plant, and identied by Chinese researchers as having an anti-fertility effect on men. Before widespread use can be recommended, further investigation is needed to see if lowering the dosage can eliminate undesirable side-effects without reducing its effectiveness as a contraceptive. The Foundation supported research on gossypols safety,
reversibility and efcacy in seven different 1986 grants. It seems that the funded scientists have indeed found a way of lowering the dosage of gossypol, circumventing the toxicity of the substance, so as to suppress or even eliminate these undesirable side-effects, which include: low blood potassium levels, fatigue, muscle weakness and even paralysis. If these effects could be eliminated without reducing the anti-fertility effects, the foundation gured, it would be a highly effective and almost undetectable sterilant. Although overtly, research into and development of gossypol as a anti-fertility compound was abandoned in the late 1990s, the cottonseed containing the substance was especially selected for mass distribution in the beginning of the current decade. Around 2006

a media-campaign was launched, saying the cottonseed could help defeat hunger and poverty. In 2006, NatureNews reported that RNA interference (or RNAi) was the way to go. On the one hand it would cut the gossypol content in cottonseeds by 98%, while leaving the chemical defenses of the rest of the plant intact. Furthermore, the article quoted Dr. Deborah P. Delmer, the Rockefeller Foundations associate director of food security, who was quick to bury any concern: Deborah Delmer, associate director of the Rockefeller Foundation in New York City and an expert in agricultural food safety, points out that a benet of using RNAi technology is that it turns off a gene process rather than switching on a novel function. So instead of introducing a new foreign protein, youre just shutting down one process, Delmer says. In that sense, I
think that the safety concerns should be far less than other GM technologies. A 2006, National Geographic article Toxin-Free Cottonseed Engineered; Could Feed Millions Study Says, quotes the director of the Laboratory for Crop Transformation (Texas A&M Universtity), Keerti Singh Rathore as saying: A gossypol-free cottonseed would signicantly contribute to human nutrition and health, particularly in developing countries, and help meet the requirements of the predicted 50 percent increase in the world population in the next 50 years. Rathores study, states the article, represents the rst substantiated case where gossypol was reduced via genetic engineering that targets the genes that make the toxin. I bring into recollection the statement made by the Rockefeller
Foundation in its 1986 annual report, which reads: Before widespread use can be recommended, further investigation is needed to see if lowering the dosage can eliminate undesirable side-effects without reducing its effectiveness as a contraceptive. In the 1997 Foundational report, Rathore is mentioned (page 68). A postdoctoral fellowship-grant was given to a certain E. Chandrakanth for advanced study in plant molecular biology under the direction of Keerti S. Rathore, Laboratory for Crop Transformation, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. Compromising connections, in other words, for someone who claimed academic objectivity in regards to gossypol and its sterilizing effects. Rathore explained the workings of RNAi in a 2006 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Cottonseed toxicity due to gossypol is a long-standing problem, Rathore said, and people have tried to x it but havent been able to through traditional plant breeding. My area of research is plant transgenics, so I thought about using some molecular approaches to address this problem. Rathore also mentioned the desired main funder of his work without actually saying the name: we are trying to nd some partners and will probably be looking at charitable foundations to help us out in terms of doing all kinds of testing that is required before a genetically engineered plant is approved for food or feed. We are in the very early stages and have a lot of ideas in mind, but we need to pursue those. Hopefully, we can nd some sort of partnership that will allow us to do them. He also expressed the nal adaptation of the cottonseed for widespread
use is something of the long term: () right now there are many hurdles when you are dealing with a genetically modied plant. But I think in the next 15 or 20 years a lot of these regulations that we have to satisfy will be eliminated or reduced substantially. The Foundation, as is evident from the statements of Rockefellers own Deborah Delmer, has been more than interested. The scientic community, we see, now tells young students that using such sterilants are a viable option to reduce the US population. Given the fact that the professor has been selected by large governmental organizations under the general guidance of Obamas science czar John P. Holdren, we must wonder if the option of using Gossypol as a sterilent in the United States may have been inspired by Holdren and Ehrlich in their 1977 book Ecoscience, when
they wrote: Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difcult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.
