f you love to garden and are tired of maintaining your water-thirsty plants, be sure to join us in the Be Water Smart zone. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with Placer County Master Gardeners; experts in gardening, landscape and irrigation design. Come and meet some local green gardening vendors that will show you their products and services to help tame those thirsty plants; creating beautiful gardens while using less water. Speaking of families and children - be sure to stop by the Water Cycle booth and build a water cycle bracelet using beads that are shaped and colored to symbolize the water cycle. As you put together your keepsake bracelet, test your knowledge of the water cycle- do you know all four stages? If not, be sure to become an expert in order to impress all of your friends and family. Now that youve met with the Master Gardeners, explored the local green vendors and made your water cycle bracelet; test your knowledge of water conservation at the City of Rosevilles Water Efciency Jeopardy booth. ne of the questions our interpreters ask students visiting the Roseville Utility Exploration Center is, how many planet Earths do we have? They look at us like were crazy - answering with a condent smile, one planet Earth, of course! If thats true, why then do we plow through resources and generate garbage like we have an endless supply of planet Earths lying around? That always them thinking! Now you can think of ways to help reduce your footprint on our planet when you visit the Live Waste Free zone. While youre here, youll learn fun, easy and exciting ways to signicantly reduce your impact on the environment without signicantly altering your lifestyle. You may even learn some ways to another precious resource - money! Sometimes helping the Earth can also mean helping others. Bring donations of usable clothing or household

items to the ReUseIt Mobile Drop Box and it will benet local nonprot organizations while responsibly recycling to help keep these items out of our local landlls. Remember, used doesnt always mean used up. Speaking of used clothing, stop by the Freestyle Clothing Exchange booth to see some of the great gently used clothing and accessories that is being upcycled instead of tossed away. Be sure to check out their recycled/upcycled fashion show on the main stage at noon! Finally, dont forget to make time to visit with all of the green business vendors strategically located throughout this zone. These folks are armed with tips, recycled arts and crafts, products and services that will help you reduce the amount of materials you purchase and throw away, saving you time and money -reducing the amount of waste that ends up in our landlls.

Buzz on over to the City of Rosevilles Storm Water booths and climb through a life-size bug made out of a classic Volkswagen Beetle. Swat away the ies (kidding!) as you learn why its important to pick up after Fido and other four legged friends at the scoop the poop exhibit. Speaking of friends, check out some protected critters at Eco-Safaris rescued wildlife booth, consider adopting a pet at the SPCA booth, ride a pony ($5 charge) or watch exciting falconry demonstrations. Hey adults, before your kids bug you to visit the bee colony or pet some delightful creatures; be sure to take a moment and meet with some of the local green vendors. These environmental experts are available to teach you about products and services designed to help protect our planets natural resources, including our local creeks, trails, rivers and urban habitats. Make sure to add a visit to Uncle Jers Traveling Bee Show booth to your HoneyDo list. Jerry and his wife Ellen will show you and your family how a bee hive works and why bees are so important to our food chain and the environment. Speaking of bees, they are just one of many designs you can have painted on at our FREE face painting station. Ever think about your sewer system? No surprise-most people dont give it a second
thought. Out of sight and out of mind, right? Not today! Stop by the Live Sewer Smart booth (our zone sponsor) and learn ways to help protect the pipes in your home from getting infected with (insert menacing music here) the FOG! Thats Fats, Oils and Grease - three things that can clog and back up pipes on your property. Yuck! With so many exciting vendors, bugs, critters and underground places to visit, you can spend all day getting to know some of our planets smallest and most important creatures as well as the groups that protect our wildlife and wild places. We all know that fossil fuels are in limited supply and that nding alternative sources of energy can help ease our reliance on oil. The Sun provides plants with the energy they need to grow, but did you know just how much energy can be produced using solar power? Visit the Solar Showcase zone to learn more about how to harness the same power that provides us with our warm, sunny weather. Get great tips from local vendors including Capital City Solar, Lyon Real Estate, Renewal by Andersen and Solar City. But the sun isnt the only other source of energy out there. Stop by and see Energy 2001, Inc. to nd out more about how they use methane gas produced at a local landll to produce enough electricity for nearly 4,000 homes! After youve soaked in some sun, check out some delicious lunch options in our mobile food truck area. Dine from Drewskis Hot Rod Kitchen, chow down on Chandos Tacos, or cool down with a delicious frozen treat from OMG Yogurt.

ou think you know everything about the library? You think the library is boring? You are so wrong! We will be showing off the cool and wonderful stuff we have in the lobby of the Riley Library. Did you know we have a Pokmon Club, a Teen Library Council, and a Conversation Club to hone your English skills? By the way, when you join the Teen Library Council you get to make important library decisions, plan events and parties, help choose teen books, and it looks great on your college resume. Of course you know we have story times, book clubs, and computer classes but did you know you can check out a Kindle or a Nook? Did you know you could download free e-books and audio books to your devices? But we are not giving away any more surprises. Watch the 3 Little Fish and the Big, Bad Shark puppet show inside the Riley Library. The Teen Library council puppeteers will have those 3 Little Fishes swimming for their lives! Show times are at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm - plenty of opportunity to laugh and join in the fun. Come on by the Library, check out our cool stuff, check out some books, download some e-books, and see the puppet show.
