Proposal Argument
Global Warming has become one of the most pressing issues for humanity. Technology
and the planet are being abused for the purpose of meeting the industrial need to mass produce.
The climate crisis has escalated since its discovery, and will continue to do so if no actions are
taken to eliminate the harmful habits of human activity everywhere. Citizens should change all
possible aspects of their lives to decrease the impact they have on the environment in order to
ensure the planet will be able to sustain our current and future population. If we do not begin to
change there will be most likely be wars over water and oil due to the severe dependency
humans have developed.
Not all, but most citizens are continuing to live their lives without considering the
consequences their actions have and the toll they will take on others now as well as the future
generations. Information about Global Warming has been promoted at a global level and most
citizens are now aware of the crisis. One person alone most likely does not produce enough
emissions to destroy the environment, however when all the emissions from everyone is added
up, it becomes dangerous, and catastrophic. Global warming has already begun taking a toll on
the temperature, the ozone layer, the polar ice caps, glaciers everywhere, general human health,
wildlife, plant life. The destruction of forests for the purpose of industrialization has also
drastically affected the atmosphere, in addition to over fishing and conventional agriculture
methods.
People should use alternative methods some examples including: using energy efficient
appliances, reducing the use of water, using solar energy, and supporting organic and local
farmers. Using energy efficient appliances, and solar energy decreases, and may even eliminate
the use of energy harvested through gas of electricity. Reducing water is also a good idea
because there is only a very small percentage left, and there is no way to get fresh water from the
ocean for everyone without paying a fortune. This is when recycling grey water, otherwise
known as the water that has drained from the shower or sink is collected and used again for the
purpose of flushing the toilet. Since one of the main reasons global warming has become a
problem is our excess use of gas inefficient cars, it would be a good idea to switch to a hybrid or
gas efficient car, which would save money. Other good ideas for transportation alternatives
include carpooling, taking public transportation, and biking or walking. This is not only
beneficial for the persons health, but also saves money for the person who has decided to switch
to alternatives.
Recycling, composting, growing ones own food, using rags or cloth napkins instead of
paper napkin or towels, using the dishwasher instead of hand washing, maintaining house
insulation, avoiding turning on lights, using reusable bags are all also potential suggestions for
alternatives to a more environmentally friendly life. Recycling reduced the amount of things in
the trash that will just be getting dumped on a colossal pile of garbage and waste somewhere on
the corner of nowhere to rot. This way the object is introduced back into the manufacturing
world to be used again and eliminate more plastic being produced. Using rags instead of paper
products eliminates the need to cut down trees in important areas like the rain forests which are
needed for the millions of species yet to be discovered. The dishwasher uses less water than if
one were to hand wash dishes, making the dishwasher a good way to save water and reduce
ones water bill. Few other things that can be done in the kitchen to reduce global warming is
Step 1. Make a Claim
Citizens should change all possible aspects of their lives to decrease the impact they have
on the environment in order to ensure the planet will be able to sustain our current and future
population.
Step 2. Identify the problem
Not all, but most citizens are continuing to live their lives without think about the
consequences their actions have and the toll it will take on others including those of future
generations.
Step 3. Propose your solution
People should use alternative methods by using energy efficient appliances, reducing the
use of water, using solar energy, supporting organic and local farmers, and buying a hybrid, gas
efficient car, carpooling, taking public transportion, biking or walking.
Step 4. Consider other solutions
recycling, composting, growing their own food, using rags or cloth napkins instead of
paper napkin or towels, using the dishwasher instead of hand washing, recycling grey water,
maintaining house insulation, avoiding turning on lights, using reusable bags
Step 5. Examine the feasibility of your solution
Some are much easier than others. Getting a hybrid is something that may only be
possible finances arent an issue; this also includes getting energy efficient appliances, using
solar energy as solar panels are expensive, and the grey water recycling system.
Step 6. Answer how your audience will benefit from your solution
If one can afford to do all of what has been listed, then that person will begin making
money as the appliances begin paying for themselves by reducing bills. The actions which
include decreasing the use of something will also do the same thing
Step 7. Issue a call to action-if your readers agree with you, they will want to take action.
Restate and emphasize exactly what readers need to do to solve the problem.
The reader needs to find any way to reduce the use and support of unclean energy, oil,
gasoline, and decrease the use of water. There are companies which have the planets well-being
in mind such as organic farmers, and it would also be beneficial for these companies to be
supported as well as
