Attention smokers: Do you like having the freedom to smoke on campus in between classes?
Well that freedom may soon be taken away from you.

A new bill advancing in the New Jersey state assembly is looking to ban smoking on all college
campuses. The bill, if passed would be the strictest college campus smoking ban in the
nation. Advocates of the bill argue that 90% of smokers start before the age of 21 and are
influenced by their peers to smoke around the college.
The bill is part of an ongoing effort by New Jersey officials to create stricter anti-smoking laws.
This past March, a bill was passed by the Assembly to ban smoking at public parks and
beaches. This past Tuesday, Belmar, a popular tourist destination banned smoking anywhere on
its boardwalk or beach.
If this bill is passed, cigars and pipes will be banned a long with cigarettes. It would also ban
electronic cigarettes, chewing tobacco, dip and other types of tobacco products. If someone is
caught violating the bill, they will be fined $250 for a first offense, $500 for a second offense and
$1000 each time after.

assault, and she may now face up to seven years in jail without bail.

Commission headquarters in Washington DC on Wednesday to fight plans they say will hand
control of the web over to major corporations and create a two-tier internet.
Groups that participated in the protest were Fight For the Future, Popular Resistance, and others.
The protestors were unfurling banners that read Save the internet.
The participants are planning to camp outside the FCC until May 15
th

expected to announce new rules for the internet that will formalize plans for higher speed
internet for those able to pay for it. On Wednesday, Facebook, Amazon, and Google, along with

discrimination for internet traffic. The letter says the FCC must take the necessary steps to
