FRENCH CAMP, CA Sheriff Steve Moore is very pleased to announce that a
promotional, hiring and recognition ceremony was held today at 2:00pm at the John J.
Zunino Sheriffs !perations "enter. #000 Michael $. "anlis %lvd. &rench "amp, "'.
&amily and friends were invited to attend. (eputys Michael )allery and 'aron (unsing
were promoted to Sergeant, "asey Schaapman and 'ndrew *heodore was sworn in as
new Sheriffs deputies, and 'ndrew Johnson was sworn in as a new "orrectional !fficer.

Michael )allery
Michael )allery was hired .y the Sheriffs !ffice as a "orrectional !fficer on 'ugust /0,
0112. Michael attended the Sheriffs !ffice "orrectional 'cademy and was presented
the Sheriffs 'ward for overall performance upon completion of the program. 3e was
assigned to the "ustody (ivision, where he served as a training officer. 3e spent the
ma4ority of time there wor5ing in the Main Jail.
6n Septem.er of 2000, Michael attended the -olice 'cademy at the 7ay Simon "riminal
Justice *raining "enter in Modesto, where he served as 8"lass +eader.9 6n July of 200:,
he was assigned to &ield &orces in the -atrol (ivision; and in 200#, he promoted to &ield
*raining !fficer <&*!=. 6n 2002, Michael returned to Modesto as a 7ecruit *raining
!fficer <7*!= at to the Stanislaus "ounty 7egional *raining "enter, where he trained
new -olice !fficer 7ecruits in pursuit of a career in law enforcement.
Michael returned to the Sheriffs !ffice in 2000 and was assigned to the 6nvestigations
(ivision in the -roperty >nit. 6n 200/, he returned to the -atrol (ivision as an &*!,
where he is currently assigned.
Michael attended San Joa?uin (elta "ollege and played foot.all for the (elta Mustangs.
6n 012@, he enlisted in the >nited States 'rmy. 3is years of service included an overseas
tour in Auantanamo %ay, "u.a. Michael rose to the ran5 of Staff Sergeant and retired
from the 'rmy $ational Auard in 200B, after serving our country proudly for 20 years.
Michael serves on the %oard of (irectors for the "alifornia -eace !fficers Memorial
&oundation and is a mem.er of the Sheriffs !ffice 3onor Auard.
3e lives in the Stoc5ton area with his wifeC"laudia, and their four children.

'aron started his career with the Sheriffs !ffice on June 21, 0112, as a partDtime
(ispatcher assigned to Jail "entral "ontrol. Ehile wor5ing partDtime with the Sheriffs
!ffice, 'aron attended San Joa?uin "ounty (elta "ollege and earned an '' (egree in
'dministration of Justice.
6n !cto.er of 2000, 'aron was hired .y the 'lameda "ounty Sheriffs !ffice as a
(eputy *rainee and attended their %asic 'cademy. 'fter graduating from the academy,
'aron was sworn in as a (eputy Sheriff and assigned to their "ustody (ivision.
6n $ovem.er of 2000, 'aron was hired .y the San Joa?uin "ounty Sheriffs !ffice and
assigned to the -atrol (ivision. 'fter successfully completing the &ield *raining
-rogram, 'aron was temporarily assigned to +athrop -olice Services. 6n (ecem.er
2002, he was transferred .ac5 to the -atrol (ivision. Ehile assigned to the -atrol
(ivision, 'aron .ecame a Eeaponless (efense 6nstructor, an 6mpact Eeapons
6nstructor, and a *actical "ommunications 6nstructor.
6n 200@, 'aron .ecame a &ield *raining !fficer and then advanced to a &ield *raining
!fficer "oordinator.
6n June 2001, 'aron was transferred to the 6nvestigations (ivision, assigned to the
-ersons >nit as a Aang (etective. 'aron .ecame certified as a gang eFpert within San
Joa?uin "ounty .y the "alifornia State "ourt Judicial System. 'aron participated in
numerous gangDrelated investigations, which led to the convictions of numerous violent
gang mem.ers.
6n July 2002, 'aron was transferred .ac5 to the -atrol (ivision, assigned to the San
Joa?uin MultiD'gency Aang *as5 &orce. Ehile assigned to the gang tas5 force, 'aron
wor5ed with .oth the Stoc5ton -olice (epartments Aang )iolence Suppression >nit and
their "ommunity 7esponse *eam.
'aron is a mem.er of the Sheriffs !ffice 3onor Auard and "olor Auard *eam. 3e has
.een a mem.er of the Sheriffs !ffice S.E.'.*. *eam for approFimately four years,
where he serves as .oth a tactical operator and a sniper. 'aron has received numerous
letters of commendation and appreciation from .oth the Sheriffs !ffice 'dministration
and various mem.ers of the community throughout his law enforcement career.
'aron was .orn and raised in Stoc5ton, where he currently lives with his wife, 3ope, and
their son.

"asey Schaapman
"asey Schaapman is 2# years old and grew up in Escalon and 7ipon, where he wor5ed
on his familys almond farm. 'fter graduating from Escalon 3igh School, "asey 4oined
the military and spent siF years in the Marine "orps, serving a tour in 6ra? in 2002. >pon
his return, he attended "hico State >niversity, where he earned a %achelors (egree in
"riminal Justice. &ollowing graduation, "asey attended the %utte "ollege +aw
Enforcement 'cademy and graduated in (ecem.er 200/.
"asey met his girlfriend Gristina in college, and they have .een together for five years.

'ndrew *heodore
'ndrew *heodore was .orn in &ort +eonardwood Missouri and was raised in Sacramento
"alifornia. 3e attended El5 Arove 3igh School and then enrolled in "osumnes 7iver
"ollege. 'ndrew put himself through the Sacramento Sheriffs 'cademy and was hired
.y the Sacramento "ounty Sheriffs (epartment. 6n 2001, 'ndrew was laid off due to
.udget cuts .ut was then hired .y the Sonora -olice (epartment.
(uring his career as a law enforcement officer, 'ndrew has wor5ed as a *raining !fficer,
a (rug 6mpairment 7ecognition EFpert, and a mem.er of the "E7* team. 'ndrew has
received numerous awards as a result of his service to the pu.lic, including lifeDsaving
awards and the M'(( award for drun5en driving arrests and prevention. 3e was also
named 8!fficer of the Hear9 for years 2000 and 200/.
'ndrew resides in !a5dale with his girlfriend of five years, 'pril, and their twoDyearDold
son. 'ndrew en4oys fishing, .oating, and spending time with his family. 3e is eFcited
and loo5s forward to continuing his career with this department.

'ndrew Michael Johnson was .orn to the parents of (on and +inda Johnson on June 21,
01##, in Stoc5ton, "alifornia. 't the age of 00, 'ndrew moved to &airport $ew Hor5
with his father and stepmotherCJoyce, sisterC"harissa, and stepD.rotherC"had.
6n July of 0112, he moved .ac5 to Stoc5ton, where he met his wifeCJanae in 200#.
'ndrew and Janae have a .eautiful family of five wonderful children. 'ndrew is very
eFcited and grateful to .e given this opportunity at the Sheriffs !ffice and is eager to
.egin his career as a "orrectional !fficer.

focused on how treatment for the mentally ill in the future will impact pu.lic safety and
law enforcement.
