a lost child, go to the Karma Dome. Before your child
is lost, we have wristbands at the Karma Dome and at
Kids Space. Your cell phone number written on your
childs wristband will help us reunite you should he or
she get lost. For lost and found items, please visit the
Karma Dome.

The Whole Earth Festival is an alcohol-free event.
Thank you for not bringing alcohol onto campus or to
the Whole Earth Festival. The Regents of the University
of California, owners of the UC Davis campus, do not
allow marijuana use on any of its UC campuses. This
includes the medical use of marijuana. All events at
UC Davis have a zero-tolerance for drug and alcohol
possession. People in possession of drugs or alcohol will
be cited. Thank you for keeping the festival drug- and
alcohol-free.
All dogs must be on a leash while at the festival, guided
by a person. Dogs may not be staked down. A human
must be with the dog at all times. Please, do not leave
pets inside your car and make sure your dog gets enough
water. Please pick up after your dog. Thank you.
No camping is permitted anywhere on campus. People
found camping are subject to citation and removal from
campus. The closest public camping is at KOA in West
Sacramento. If you need lodging, the city of Davis
provides a variety of options for your travel, including
local hotels and inns. For more information, please visit

This year the theme for Education is Autonomous
Community, honoring and cultivating autonomous
communities and critiqing limitations placed upon
communities autonomous expression. This years
education booths will be highlighting four aspects
of Autonomous Community: Wellness, Education,
Justice and Resource Allocation. Well also be
screening lms during the festival and inviting
speakers and workshop facilitators to present on the
topic of Autonomous Community.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL
INITIATIVES OF BURNING MAN
Birth as we Know It is a groundbreaking documentary on Conscious
birth. It is the most comprehensive guide to Conscious Birth in the worls,
because it delivers a powerful transmission of what it really takes to give birth
consciously and gracefully.
The lm will be followed by a 10 minute talk by the Birth into Being
organization on where the organization is now, followed by a Q and A.
The Environmental Initiatives of Burning Man explores several directions
that this unique desert festival has taken towards making life on earth more
sustainable.
Michael Mikel is a co-founder of Burning Man and has been involved
with its evolution for the past 25 years. In 1992 he drove the rst art car
to Burning Man, edited the rst on-site newspaper and founded the Black
Rock Rangers, a unique community service organization. In 2001 he visited
regional communities across the US during his Tour of America as an
ambassador for Burning Man.

Irena Salinas award-winning documentary investigation into what
experts label the most important political and environmental issue
of the 21st Century - The World Water Crisis. Salina builds a case
against the growing privatization of the worlds dwindling fresh
water supply with an uninching focus on politics, pollution, human
rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel
Marissa Weitzman is representing JUSTA, a non-proft organization
that connects indigenous Guatemalan artisans, global designers,
and sustainable projects.
David Casey has spent the past four years in Guatemala and other
areas of Latin America catalyzing Project Nuevo Mundo.
Earthbench, founded by Brennan Blazer Bird has constructed
more than a dozen benches worldwide, constructed of Bottle
Bricks , which are (mostly) Non-recyclable plastic bottles stufed
with trash.

The Bloom Episode 3 explores the New Ways Of the Sacred that
have emerged in Transformational Festivals, including how they
reinstill a sense of MYTHOS for participants, or an awareness of
our role in a greater multi-dimensional reality and story; fullling
the functions of RITUAL once common for traditional societies and
often missing from contemporary urban life; synthesizing into an
authentically third millennium spiritual culture that is experiencing
and honoring THE SACRED as a community without dogma,
doctrine or charismatic gurus.
Outreach Director Zac Cirivello will facilitate a discussion of the
implications of the series and take questions.

Elvira Paoletti is passionate about teaching for the future,
by developing educational activities for youth that focus
on sustainable lifestyles. Previously she was at WEF as the
director of Students for Sustainable Futures. Currently,
Elvira is an independent study teacher with Heritage
Peak Charter School, and a home-schooling parent. She
organizes group co-op classes for home-schoolers in
Davis, blending Waldorf and Montessori methods.

HEALING FIRST AID
We will have trained staf, including the physician director
of the space as well as other physicians, EMTs, Wilderness
First Responders and people trained in basic rst aid. We
will be able to take care of minor physical problems, as well
as seeing those who may have some more serious issues
and helping to decide if the problem is serious enough to
require more sophisticated treatment of-site.
Come get hydrated with us! Free drinking water will be available throughout the festival to ll your bottles and cups. In
the resourceful and zero-waste WEF spirit: Bring your own bottles and cups! During the heat of the day,
rainbow-making misters will also be available for you to cool of under before returning to your festivities!
Come nd us directly across the pathway from the Karma Dome on the East side of the UC Davis Quad. Sounds of
ecstatic, rapidly-cooling and invigorated humans will guide you! Water also available at Healing and First Aid Space!
Spaces will be provided for healing and bringing balance to
the body, mind, and spirit. We will provide FREE body
therapies and practices provided by practitioners of Yoga,
Massage Therapy, Reexology and other holistic
modalities. Refer to the program for times for group yoga
sessions, meditation workshops, morning Tai Chi, and Tea
Circles.
THE WHOLE EARTH FESTIVAL HEALING AND FIRST AID SPACE IS DEDICATED TO THE EASING YOUR DISEASE. WHETHER IT IS A CUT OR A SPRAIN OR
SOME OTHER PROBLEM IN YOUR BODY, WHAT REQUIRES SOME ICE OR A BANDAGE, OR IF THERE IS SOMETHING MORE SUBTLE AND YOU JUST DONT
FEEL RIGHT IN YOUR BODY/MIND/SPIRIT.

is proud to present a wide variety of displays and creative
experiences for festival go-ers. Our space will have paintings,
murals, and sculptures on display along with performance art,
interactive pieces and a showcase of all submissions for the WEF
2014 poster design contest.
This year we are excited to feature Dirty Trashy Mamas upcycled art
and dance troupe Flash Mobs, local installation artist Sonya Stone
with her Sea of Debris and Plarn (plastic yarn) demonstrations,
mixed media painter Priya Handas live art creation for your viewing
pleasure, and many more.
For participatory art, we are encouraging everyone to join the
Flash/Trash Mob, or try your hand at our communal canvas in the
HeART gallery lounge space.

young people at WEF. Young people will have an opportunity

workshops at Kids Space focused on nature and Earth-care.
Throughout the festival, we will share a rich program and schedule,
we invite your family to come play, learn, interact and share.
Curiosity Connects is the lens in which we designed this space,
maintaining a loving and open atmosphere for young people to
explore and connect to themselves, each other and their Earth.
Hoop Space welcomes everyone and anyone to come play with
beautiful hoops of all sizes. Discover new ways of engaging with
the sacred circle to connect to the earth, the cosmos, and to
align with your galactic center in this whirling wonderland.
Feel the benets of spinal alignment as you strengthen and
connect with your core to create a foundation from which to
spiral beyond perceived limitations.
Feel free to experiment on your own, or ask one of our amazing
volunteers to show you some tricks! All levels of experience are
encouraged to participate in this magical exploration.

Experiential Space is a space for inspirational experiences. At
experiential space, you will nd a group of bright minded people who are
gathered by curiosity. Attend workshops, forums and seminars, and build
connections with each other in our interactive activities and hands-on

Sacred Space provides a forum for spiritual awakening and development;
a space that is transformed to awaken and guide us to learn about the

About Whole Earth Festival Reusable Dishes
Since 2002, WERC (Whole Earth Reusable Cooperatives) has provided reusable dishes for both food vendors
and festival-goers. This service has become an integral and unique part of the festival such that it saddens us to say
that we are providing compostable dishes this year. In the past years, a dishwasher had been available to WERC.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, that dishwasher has become unavailable to us. Although we have
explored many options to remediate this situation, we have found no efective way to wash enough dishes to keep
both food vendors and festival-goers happy.
While compostables are a better alternative to disposables, we do not see them as sustainable and are currently
working to create a new plan for WERC, so that this is the only year we have to use them. This years compostable
dishes are only a temporary measure, and the reusables will return in 2015.
If you would like to help us bring reusables back, we ask that you will volunteer in Karma Patrol next year. Your
contribution will help make next years reusables program a success. We thank you for your patience and
understanding as we make this transition and wish you a joyous experience this weekend! This years compostable

At Compost & Recycling it is our priority to make the Whole Earth Festivals zero-waste intention a reality. We work
hard to sort the waste that must be created at the festival so it can be correctly reused, composted, or recycled.
Those excited to help us dynamically destruct the waste from the festival, or to break down the zero-waste dialogue,
can nd us on the shaded area between Wellman Hall and Wickson Hall outside the North-West corner of the quad.
Festival goers can nd our bins to move their waste to its next use scattered around the quad. We encourage all
festival-goers to be conscious of the waste they are generating at our festival and to constantly question the
structures that prevent us from being zero-waste all of the time.

Our wares vary year to year....photography, jewelry, ceramics, crochet,
recorded music, cat ear headbands.....you never know what you may nd! And
that is the joy of this booth. We as people are gloriously all over the board and
our handmade wares follow suit.

Welcome to the Quad Stage! We are at the SouthEast end of the Quad, facing Northward
toward the Karma Dome and Healing and First Aid Space. We present musical acts, spoken
word, and informative emceeing.
QUAD STAGE ARTISTS
CLAN DYKEN In the past century social, political and environmental
movements have created music as much as music itself has stoked the re of
cultural resistance and sown the seeds for a crop of social change. Rock and
roll has altered our society and protests and rallies without music are sleepers.
Clan Dyken has performed around the world helping people nd greater
consciousness, validate rebellion, take positive action, build community,
transform society and have fun dancing at the same time.
MIKE OSBORN Mike's music is a unique blend of classic rock, blues, and
progressive country. Always soulful, always danceable, always with an
awesome, concert stage presence and audience interaction. That combined
with his fretboard wizardry and growling vocals, he delivers on multiple levels
all at the same time. His live performances are hard hitting, mind blowing,
and unforgettable!
DAVID BREAUX On June 3rd, 2009, David Breaux began asking people to
share their written concept of the word compassion in a notebook here in
Davis, CA. It evolved into a personal endeavor to bring awareness to
compassion. David will be giving a short talk on his work and mission to
festival-goers this year.
ZORELLI Zorelli plays a variety of music styles including Latin, Reggae, Jazz,
Ska, Soul and Funk. The band features Steel Drums, Sax, Keyboards, Bass,
Drums, and Percussion. High energy instrumental music great for dancing
and listening!
BOCA DO RIO Boca do Rio ows to town with a burst of creativity, soul,
and undeniable beats. Born of the mixing of waters Brazil and the San
Francisco Bay. Boca do Rio creates music organic music that developed
through the rhythm of living and working between the Americas.
BESO NEGRO Beso Negro has an all-star lineup of internationally
experienced musicians who have brought drive and passion to Gypsy Swing.
The love for tradition has collided with a modern sensibility and has
transformed the genre into a vibrant new beast. Darker, faster, more
danceable, more blues, more Gypsy, Beso Negro's indelible ngerprint brings
Jazz Manouche to a new generation and to the 21st century.
SPOKEN BIRD Berkeley based producer Spoken Bird seeks to take his
listeners on an auditory journey painting pictures on silence with sound
waves. Blending poly-tempo, multi-genre songs into an amalgamation of
eclectic headnodic beats that captivate the listener, allows them to explore
the depths of their own imagination. Prepare for full body dance convulsions
as the bass waves wash over you, massaging body, mind and soul.
MAYA BURNS This is Maya's 7th year performing at Whole Earth Festival.
Maya sings in Spanish and English, and accompanies herself on guitar,
saxaphone, and piano.
CITY OF TREES BRASS BAND Comprised of musicians from the greater
Sacramento area, The City of Trees Brass Band is a party band that combines
the musical styles of contemporary brass bands, New Orleans Jazz, and
music of their own generation.
THE LOWER 48 Portland-based 60s Pop Rock trio The Lower 48 can't wait
to serve Whole Earth with a killer rock show, guaranteed to be the talk of
Davis for weeks to come. With a sound as sharp as their stagewear, The Lower
48 is a band you won't forget anytime soon.
DGIIN Dgiin (pronounced Gin) is a 4 piece band, mixing musical styles from
funk to latin and reggae. It is sometimes described as melodic french grooves
due to the majority of songs that are in french.

MISS LONELY HEARTS Miss Lonely Hearts, started in the central valley of
CA, is a band that lays down hard driving Honky Tonk/Rock & Roll. Their
sound was created out of a deep authentic understanding and appreciation of
the roots country music that evolved in this nation. Every song is a dark,
drunken, broken hearted hymn set to an unavoidably danceable tempo and
intended to drive a crowd to a near fever pitch.
PATCHY SANDERS Patchy Sanders is a true family band with sisters Dani
and Jacqui Aubert, their partners Ian Van Ornum and Dan Sherrill, and good
friends Sara Wilbur, Eric Jones, and Alex Patterson. Patchy Sanders plays
banjo, mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, ddle, upright bass, drums, penny whistle,
lever harp, sings 4-part harmonies and adds in few more surprises for good
measure!
THICK AS THIEVES Thick as Thieves began as a vision. A vision to integrate
classic hip hop with timeless rock and roll. They have created a sound that
harkens back to the days of John Fogerty and Robbie Robertson, while
incorporating intention-lled rap verses, uplifting catchy choruses with dual
vocals, all brought to life by sinuous stalking rhythms. Thick as Thieves are
unremittingly explore interesting new interpretations of what honest popular
music can and should be.
TEMPEST Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a
globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Folk Rock fusing Irish reels,
Scottish ballads, Norwegian inuences and other world music elements.
JOY AND MADNESS JOY & MADNESS is an eight piece soul band
blending choice rearrangements of the classic grooves of the R&B stacks
with soulful original soul music.
TUMBLEWEED WANDERERS Since forming in July of 2011, Oakland
natives Tumbleweed Wanderers have been growing at a blistering pace. As at
home playing their energy fueled blend of soul, folk and rock'n'roll on stage as
they are busking intimate bluegrass on the street, the band's charming
versatility and independent spirit has won them a dedicated fan base
throughout the US.
DJ STRAIGHTNASTY Davis' own downright delightful dance facilitator,
StraightNasty blends uplifting funk and swing with some groovin' tech and
bouncy circus beats thrown in.
VALO BOHEME Valo Boheme is a Sacramento-based Gypsy Jazz Combo.
Blending both acoustic and electronic elements, their music styles also
include Cumbia, Dub, and Acid Tango.
THE AFRICALI GENRE Afri-Cali, a hearty cioppino of rock, blues, heavy
rhythms and percussion of 1970s Ethiopian music, topped with coastal-psych
seasoning.
FANNA-FI-ALLAH SUFI QAWWALI The Fanna-Fi-Allah Su Qawwali
Ensemble is a leading representation of this music worldwide. The intensity of
their stage performance with its smooth melodic overtures, erce leaps of
vocal passion riding on heavy rhythmic grooves & rich vocal choruses have
captivated audiences in Pakistan, India, North Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, the
USA and beyond.
SAMBAD Based in the rich musical traditions of Brazil, SambaD also
references salsa and cumbia, and blends them playfully with funk and reggae
beats. Brazilian natives Papiba Godinho and Dandha da Hora bring profound
knowledge and respect for Brazilian music, and together with the entire band,
they present a unique musical sound with a universal appeal.

CEDAR STAGE ARTISTS
PACKARD SLIM AND THE ULTRAMETRICS Packard Slim has been a
student of Jazz and R&B, blowing sax for more than a decade. This Packard
In Primer could be his text book to the blues, a chronological progression
from the delta, to the Mississippi hills, to Chicago, a trip out west and onward
to the roots of rock n roll.
SEVEN FACTORIAL 7! (SevenFactorial) is a bastion of psychedelic soul,
with seven members and Wah pedals in all the right places. Organically
blending funk, reggae, and rock'n'roll, they've electried hundreds of Berkeley
feet with their contagious sound. Prepare for smokey vocals,
harmonious-nonviolent dueling between electric mandolin and guitar, and a
jam that will melt you into a cosmic puddle of bliss.
THA DIRT FEELIN Efortlessly blending elements of rock and hip-hop with
old-school soul, these ve local guys are out to prove that Davis' funk music
scene is a force to be reckoned with. Their weapon of choice: frontman
Marque Cass, who possesses the same vibrancy and passionate charm that
funk legend Maurice White once brought to his own energetic group, Earth,
Wind & Fire.
IDEATEAM Ideateam is Sacramentos funkiest up and coming team of
music indulgersthe nine piece, largely instrumental band pulls heavily from
inuences both new and old while still maintaining a very unique and
palatable character to call their own. The core rhythm section is paired with
an outt of horns, percussion, and vocals what you wind up with is a massive
sound t to get a room moving.
YOLO MAMBO The transglobal rhythms of Yolo Mambo will transport you
to Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Cape Verde, France, Spain, New Zealand, and the
States. Yolo Mambo blends spicy cha-cha, jazz, bossa nova, samba, salsa, and
folk with the dynamic vocals of Catherine LeBlanc in languages from all over
this Earth.
SWOON Swoon's music is a cauldron red with seductive pop and sultry
rock. They are a group of diverse musicians with inuences and backgrounds
ranging from Classical to Hard Rock. Through creative song writing with pop
sensibilities, Swoon has created a sound blending chamber rock, funk, world,
jazz, and a hint of R&B.
THE F STREET STOMPERS Drawing upon the bluesy roots of America's
storied soundtrack, Miss Maddy's F Street Stompers breath new life into turn
of the century tunes. The syncopated rhythms and high-energy jigs of early
1900s ragtime are blended with classic upbeat toe-tappers recycled
throughout the decades into a potent musical potion. Add a pinch of
bluegrass, a dash of country, and a smidgen of gypsy for avor, and you've got
yourself one helluva cocktail that is guaranteed to put a pep in your step!
ELEMENT BRASS BAND Element Brass Band, second line is reaching
appreciative audiences well beyond its traditional boundaries. Second line
music is being played both nationally and internationally.Element Brass Band
is the premier brass band in Sacramento, CA and one of the few authentic
second line bands on the West Coast!
DJ BIG JOE DADDY Joey Wisgirda ( Big Joe Daddy ) creates electronic
music with Ableton Live, Reason, Recycle, Kyma, a host of other soft- and
hardware synths, and tying it all together with a Morrison Digital Trumpet
wind controller to morph from Jazz and Funk to Breakbeats and Dubstep.
MASSIVE DELICIOUS Massive Delicious isnt just the name of the
bandits a moniker that describes the groups scene and its sound. This is an
act that blends reggae, soul, funk and jazz into big, tasty dubtastic grooves for
large crowds of cute and costumed dancerscreating a mass of
deliciousenergy, rhythm and movement.

ALICIA MURPHY Alicia Murphy is a folky hybrid of singer-songwriter and
indie rock band. Her all-original songs feature harmonies and rhythm guitar,
with a touch of punk-pop, occasional twang, even a few raps now and then.
Her passion for the environment shines through in many of her quirky,
upbeat lyrics.
BIG STICKY MESS Big Sticky Mess traveled lightyears at rocketing speeds
to Earth in search of you. Now, as if shot out of a cannon through the heart
of a rainbow, the Mess is here bringing a funkadelic mix of extraterrestrial
hooks, vibrant grooves and potent beats, purely for your entertainment.
Close your eyes and hear the funky jams reminiscent of decades past with a
sound much larger than the three piece arrangement before you should
allow.
WHOLE EARTH FAMILY JAM The Whole Earth Family Jam started last
year from members of the Whole Earth Festival staf and has brought in
musicians in the larger Whole Earth Festival community...we love to play
songs that people can sing along with and feel the love. Come join us!
WHISKEY BUSINESS Whiskey Business is a local bluegrass band that will
bring a dance to your step and a smile to your face. As musicians, they serve
up lockstep grooves, high-lonesome harmonies, and soaring solos. And as
performers, they imbue the traditional American art form of bluegrass with
youthful exuberance and wisecracking humor. Their songs are for everyone.
Get dirty and dance yourself clean with Whiskey Business!
DANK OCEAN Smoothly weaving grooves of funk and hip hop with the
original styles of jazz, Dank Ocean has become a beacon of unique sound and
style.
SOMETIMES WARREN Sometimes Warren is a collaboration of notable,
Davis musicians who formed in order to indulge and share their diverse tastes
and talents in Americana, Blues, Soul and old school R&B. This sometimes 7
piece band has been lling dance oors with their unique arrangements of
eclectic covers and satisfying discerning songsters with their soulful originals.
THE ITAL SOULS . Blending French Creole and English, his music combines
soul, classic reggae and lovers rock. His use of conscious hip hop, original
lyrics and crowd interaction make his performance a can't miss. Ital souls
brings dancehall grooves, deep reggae jams and the power and simplicity of
rocksteady. This act consists mainly of Jamaican dubs arranged in a unique
way, but also has original songs delivered by and all star cast of local and
regional musicians.

endangered Lazer Tooth, when provoked, res a focused, high-energy beam
of smile-inducing, prismatic bass particulate that cascades across the senses.
WARNING: Prolonged exposure to bass may lead to extended periods of
laughter, compulsive giggling, and a slight tingling sensation.
