My Reflection

Amazement! This was my first reaction upon knowing the multiple literacies man has
ever known in the 21
st
century. This just proves how dynamic and continuous learning is and
how infinite learning can be that even a lifetime is not enough to learn everything. The Personal
Lifelong Plan has made me oriented and realized of the things I should be strong at in order to
cope with the trends at present and beyond.
The first among the literacies is the Arts and Creativity, which I feel I am really weak at.
This focuses on the creative ways of problem solving and on being artistic when it comes to
artworks. In my case, never was there a time that I was recognized of my artwork. Then, as I
filled out the PLLP and thought of an activity through which I can enhance this literacy, what
automatically came to my mind was watching demonstration/tutorial videos in the internet twice
or thrice a month and attending webinars. However, looking at it introspectively, finding reliable
source of videos can be a challenge. On the other side, it can never be a reason to stop me
from learning as it has been and will always be a part of fruitful learning.
The literacies which I believe I am good at are Ecoliteracy, Financial Literacy, and
Globalization and Multiculturalism Literacy. The common activities I plan to engage is surfing
the internet to read articles regarding each of them and attending free webinars online. Aside
from surfing the net, I would pursue having time talking to a DENR personnel about environment
protection and preservation programs and ask for soft or hard copies of documents of such
programs. For financial matters, I also intend to chat (offline or online) with a business or
financial management expert. Along the way, to take some of my time is finding finance expert.
On the other hand, A DENR personnel may no longer be an issue as I can talk to my brother
and/or sister who are working for the said agency.
What makes me feel valuable somehow is a number of literacies which I am strong at.
These include Cyberliteracy (computer and ICT), Media Literacy and Social/Emotional Literacy.
Nevertheless, I do not want to stay feeling at the top regarding these literacies. I still have to
update or upgrade myself as everyday something new is discovered. I will utilize any media
through which I can get information, insights and even research study findings. Added to that, I
will attend symposia or seminars, confer with other media-expert teachers and enroll in short
courses.
Each of us has a certain field in which one is expert or intelligent. This is in accordance
with the Multiple Intelligences Theory of Howard Gardner. However, it would be better if more
than one of the intelligences or literacies are possessed by someone for flexibility and
adaptability, thereby being capable of producing efficiently and effectively a quality output.
