R
epublican State Convention delegates will soon endorse
the person they want to replace Sen. Al Franken in
the U.S. Senate. Many people perhaps you are still
undecided, still have questions.
To help, weve taken a page from Ronald Reagans
famous 1975 speech (before he was President), when
he said the Republican Party should be raising a
banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which
make it unmistakably clear where we stand on
all of the issues troubling the people.
Nearly 40 years later, we need bold
colors and bold leadership more
than ever. And we need to be
unmistakably clear on where
candidates stand on the issues.
Thank you for reading. As always,
Im as close as 218/721-2163 if
you wish to discuss the issues or
simply say hello. I look forward
to seeing you in Rochester.
Part of running for ofce is letting Minnesotans know where you stand on all the issues,
so that voters can make informed decisions. These arent one-party issues, either.
Conservative Democrats (Reagan Democrats) share many of the same beliefs we Republicans have,
so we need a candidate experienced at reaching them, as well. Thats Chris.
Chris Dahlberg will always give Minnesotans clear, direct answers.
Mike McFadden No
Mr. McFadden is attending the
Republican State Convention
in the hopes of getting the
endorsement, but its really a
moot point because he has said
all along hell continue on to the
primary no matter what.
Julianne Ortman
No full repeal
Sen. Ortman said: Im not a full
repeal person. I think the House
of Representatives has voted 40
times to repeal it. The Senate is
not going to repeal it. So if plan
A is Lets do a repeal, we better
start talking about Plan B.
Because plan A got nowhere.
Mike McFadden
Still reviewing
In July 2013, Mr. McFadden said
he was still reviewing the U.S.
Senate bill. He did applaud the
Senates work, which is troubling
given the bills door-opener to
amnesty without securing the
border rst.
Julianne Ortman
Changes her mind
On April 22, 2014, Sen. Ortmans
yes vote on the Minnesota
Senates anti-spying bill
(SF2466) was the opposite of a
position shed earlier put forward.
On her own Facebook page,
Ortman defends the unwarranted
accessing of cell phone data with
programs like Project Kingsh.
Mike McFadden
Open to revisions
Mr. McFadden said, I would
consider expanded background
checks, specically closing that
gun show loophole.
Julianne Ortman
Proposes taxes
In an April 4, 2014, article, MinnPost
said Ortman would need to downplay
the more moderate reputation she
had as state senator from Chaska,
a reputation that includes legislative
proposals to raise taxes when the
state was facing budget decits.
MinnPost went on to say that her
tax increase proposals in 2009 and
2011 cost Ortman the Republican
endorsement for her state Senate
seat in 2012.
Chris Dahlberg Yes
Since the time my civics teacher encouraged
me to volunteer with a political party when I
was 16, Ive worked with the Republican Party
in Minnesota. I was honored at age 18 to be
elected as a delegate for the 1980 state
convention, where I rst saw the importance of
Republicans uniting behind one strong
candidate. I still see the importance of
respecting that process, and thats why I am
pledging to abide by the partys endorsement.
Chris Dahlberg Full repeal
Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster. There is
no doubt in anyones mind that our health
insurance system is in dire need of reform.
Healthcare is primarily a state issue. The answer
is to immediately repeal Obamacare and
replace it with free-market solutions that
include allowing individuals to purchase plans
across state lines and health savings accounts
that encourage consumer participation.
Chris Dahlberg
Leave it alone
There is no question mark at the end of the
Second Amendment. It reads: A well-regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a
free State, the right of the people to keep and
bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Its meaning is crystal clear. Unfortunately,
many are working to take away this
fundamental right. I dont accept this.
I will never waver from this belief.
Chris Dahlberg Lets cut taxes!
We have a $17 trillion national debt, which is
$55,000 for every man, woman and child in
Minnesota! We dont need to keep raising
taxes, we need to prioritize and focus. When
everythings a priority, nothings a priority.
Washington politicians place the same emphasis
on giving out free cell phones I believe theyre
called Obama Phones as they give to providing
ak jackets to Marines in Afghanistan!
Chris Dahlberg
Secure our borders
Im a fourth generation Minnesotan whose
Finnish relatives settled on the Range over
100 years ago. We are a country of immigrants,
and I am certainly not against legal immigration.
First, we secure the border. Period! Then, lets
discuss a new 21st Century immigration policy
that puts Americas interests rst.
Chris Dahlberg
Protect our civil liberties
Senator Franken has been AWOL when it
comes to protecting Minnesotans from
government overreach like the NSAs
collecting data on U.S. citizens, or the IRS
targeting of conservative and Tea Party
organizations. The Constitution is clear in
protecting our right to privacy. It is very
troubling to me when elected ofcials, even
from our own party, compromise on these
basic and common sense issues. I will ght at
every turn to protect our civil liberties from
being compromised.
