CONTROLING ALCOHOL WITH THE ALCOHOL BEVERAGE DETECTOR INTRODUCTION The problem is being unable to identify clearly what drinks contain alcohol and drinks that dont contain alcohol especially those in events. The device that will be the solution to this problem is called the Alcohol Beverage Detector (ABD), it detects alcohol in drinks and also works as a breathalyser. It will reduce waste and save time. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision To help manage events efficiently and effectively by controlling what type of drinks are let in by providing the industrys most accurate, convenient, reliable, and quality drink testing device. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Security Equipment Industry To effectively analyse the competitive forces, we assess the industry structure of the Security equipment industry. Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: Low Many buyers in the market, such as the different security companies that do event hosting, all the event grounds, and airline companies to prevent intoxicated passengers to board the plane. We refer to nzsbdirectory as there are many different security companies like Matrix Security Group LTD, CHUBB Security, TRITON Security. (New Zealand Small Business Directory and Travel Guide, 2014).

Supplier power: Low Supplier power is low because only the top quality suppliers of the raw materials are chosen to make the detector. Each supplier specialises in a certain part of the detector, such as the software. Threat of new entrants: Low Since manufacturing companies can sign contracts with customers this means that they are locked in or have established brand loyalty and trust that manufacturer to bring them the highest quality security equipment, therefore threat of new entrants is low because of those contracts and brand loyalty. Threat of substitutes: Low Without technology of the detector it is currently inefficient to detect alcohol, a lot of wastage is occurred as unidentified drinks are thrown into the bin even if they do not contain alcohol, people entering the events are not happy about throwing their drinks away even if they do not contain alcohol. There is no substitute product for the detector except the only way of throwing out all opened bottles into the bins. However, there is the old method of Bag Searching. (Corporate Protection And Security Services, 2011) Rivalry among existing competitors: High There are a lot of different companies which manufacturer and develop security equipment. Competition may be fierce as they need to secure contracts with customers, provide high quality

products but at a low price. Companies will develop different products for competitive advantages. A lot of security companies supply security equipment. We refer to Yellow Pagers for the list of companies. (Yellow Pagers, 2014). Overall attractiveness of the industry: It is favourable to enter the industry as the business will be profitable and sustainable with the correct contracts and its advantaged technology. Keeping good customer relationships will be key and keeping the competitive advantage of having advanced technology and high quality products. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs Our customers include but not limited to security guards, party managers, parents, entrepreneurs, airline companies, businesses, and police. Their needs are to be able to clearly identify drinks in which contain alcohol in them and those that do not contain alcohol in them. We refer to New Zealand Herald as security companies need the product to restrict alcohol being let into events. (New Zealand Herald, 2014). 3.4 The Product and Service Controlling the amount of alcohol in drinks and what is allowed into events. Stops people from smuggling alcohol in their drink bottles. Making bottle checking more efficient and effective as less people will argue with the outcome of the machine. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners Partners: we would need to partner with advertising agency to get the product known, an accounting agency and a law firm to manage our financial and legal issues. We could also partner with certain security companies to secure buyers. Suppliers: 1st Domains will be our supplier for the websites domain name registration, manufacturer of the tester, maybe something close to breathalysers. 3.6 Strategy: High Cost Strategy Competitive scope: The business will target a narrow market since it is very focused on security companies, in which they can specialise its service for them.

Cost strategy: The business will adapt a high cost strategy as it will specialise in making these alcoholic testers which will specialise its needs for the security company. Overall Strategy: The business will opt for a focused high cost strategy and will provide specialised products to suit each of the customers who value the product more and are willing to pay more for the product as it is different and offers high quality. 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Equipment Manufacturing The most important value chain activity for the business is equipment manufacturing. When the business is manufacturing or outsourcing the parts, it must make sure that everything is cost efficient to keep costs low, delivery for all the parts are on time in order for orders to be on time, quality of each specific part must be up to standard.
