Reminders:
- Please remember to pick-up or arrange pick-
up for your child on Tuesday at 12:00 unless
they are taking the bus.
- This week is the last time for after
school activities. Next week, there
will be no after school activities.
- We will be using our flashlights for art
and class on Monday.
- There is no more swimming so please
just wear PE kit for PE.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Reading: This week students will be reading
online only. Please have you child read and record
their reading on RAZ KIDS. You child will also be
assessed as to their reading level this week.
Spelling: Words their Way, our individualized
spelling program, is suited to your childs needs in
spelling and will focus on either initial/final
sounds, short vowels, long vowels, digraphs, other
vowels, blends or inflected endings. Spelling test
on Thursday!

Writing and Grammar: This week we will be
creatively writing about shadows under the guise
of what our Peter Pan shadow would do.

Portfolio project: You child will be choosing
their final pieces for their portfolio. These are
pieces of work or projects they have done that
hold special meaning or their best learning. They
are choosing things for Language Arts, Math and
the themes of Inquiry we have been exploring.



INQUIRING INTO LIGHT AND SOUND

This is our fourth week in the Unit of Inquiry into Light
and sound help us experience our world. We will be
exploring how to make sound using bottles and how to use
the suns light at different times of the day to measure the
length of our shadow.

Ways to Extend Your Child:
Using glass cups, add different amounts of water
into the cups and spin your finger around the rim.
Listen to the different pitches.
At night, create a tent out of sheets and chairs and
use a flashlight to tell stories or read a book.
Put glow in the dark stars (found at Toy Store in
Dubai mall) into your childs room. At night, look
at the stars and try to make pictures or
constellations and create stories from the pictures
they see.

MATH
This week, we will exploring capacity and height as well as
reviewing addition, subtraction and fractions. Students will
be investigating how many small or large cups of popcorn
kernels fit into various containers. Each student will also be
measuring their height.

what skills your child needs to practice for grade 1.
