NEEDLE POLICY

Policy:
The company policies on Needle adopted by the top management for the interest of product safety and to
keep the product free from all shorts of metal contamination complying preventive procedure. The policy
shall be effectively documented, implemented, maintained, communicated in a comprehensible form to all
personnel, including, directors, executives, management, supervisors, workers, trainees, and staffs, whether
directly employed, contracted or otherwise representing the company. This policy should be incorporated
with the quality manual.

01 Management Review
Top management shall periodically review the adequacy, suitability and continuing effectiveness of the
policy, procedures and performance results in respect of assurance and compliance.

02Purpose:

02.01To establish the requirements for the prevention of metal contamination in the product of AWFML.

03Scope

22.03.01This policy will be applicable for all the supplier and sub-supplier of AWFML .This policy is to
ensure the metal contamination free product for AWML and its supplier and sub-suppler .The supplier
might have additional procedures and controls which may also accompany the requirements of this
procedure.

04 Criteria

04.01The department must eliminate the risk of metal contamination throughout their manufacturing
process.

05 Procedures

.05.01General

05.02 The production department must follow this documented system, which demonstrates the means of
prevention the needle and metal contamination of product.

05.03 The concern departmental head should train the personnel and conduct compliance audit each and
every month to ensure its compliance.
06 Needle and other sharp tools Control

06.01 This procedure must apply to all possible sources of needle and metal contamination within the
production environment and outside place, from where we are sourcing our raw materials (including but
not limited to sewing machine needles, tagging gun needles, hand sewing, sharp tools for trimming.)

06.02 The concern department must follow the documented procedure for replacement of needle and other
sharp tools giving special care.
06.03 Only the authorized persons of the department should keep record of all needle and sharp tools stock,
which he has taken from the main store for distributing to his co-worker.

06.04 Needles and sharp tools must be kept in a secured place to prevent unusual usage/missing.

06.05 A new needle may be issued only to a person operating sewing machine if.

06.06 The operator produces complete needle

06.07 The operator produces all pieces of broken needle.

06.08 The broken needles (all pieces) must be secured in a broken needle log with indication of the date,
the line /machine no and the name of the operator.

06.09 If all parts of the broken needle cannot be found, the operator must inform management immediately
and stop the sewing. The procedure as defined below must be followed before issuance of any new needle
to continue the sewing.

06.10 Clean the sewing machine and the area thoroughly to avoid additional contamination by means of
metal.

06.11 The piece/panel being sewn when the needle is broken must be destroyed unless the piece /panel is
run through a metal detector (calibrated and maintained according to the requirements defined in the metal
detection procedure) and found to be metal free.

07 Metal Component/ Control of Sharp Tools


07.01 Scissors, Trimmers and other sharp tools used for production activities must be attached to the
workplace with safe and secure manner so it does not found missing in course of lifting the folded fabric.

07.02 Metal objects (e.g: machine parts, screw, tools etc,) must be controlled and separated from the
production places when it is not in use.

07.03 Metal component (including but not limited to snaps, grommets, etc) must be stored in boxes and
controlled within the production environment.

07.04 Pins and other small metal devices may not be used in cutting area (or if used for any purpose must
be controlled in a manner.)
