TIME: 50 MINUTES.
AIM OF LESSON: By the end of the class the students will be able to speak
about their favourite style of music and their favourite singer or band.
OBJECTIVES : - to open a discussion on music and discuss the role of music
in your life
-to enable students to use the adjectives in describing
feelings, and to give nouns corresponding to the following adjectives.
- to read the given text and then work in groups of four to
act out a dialoque between a teenager singer and her parents support.
- to remenber the most important knowledge and reinforce
the most important and interesting facts from the text.
METHODS AND TEACHING TECHNIQUES: conversation, discussion,
brainstorming, pair- work, explanation, dialogue.
SKILLS : reading, speaking, listening and writing.

ACTIVITY 1

/ WARM UP

TEACHERS ACTIVITY : Teacher tries to create a pleasant and comfortable


atmosphere by means of routine conversation: Greetings. Oral questions (Whos on duty
today? Whos absent? How are you today?).
STUDENTS ACTIVITY: Students answer the teachers questions. The students greet
the teacher

AIM: - to open a discussion on music and discuss the role of music in your life
PROCEDURE: The teacher asks the sts. to do brainstorming for the word MUSIC and
for followed by STYLES OF MUSIC and finaly to NAME SINGERS OR BANDS FOR
EACH TYPE OF MUSIC you have already brainstorm. The sts. at first express their
feelings about music, secondly they brainstorm styles of music and singers as many as they
can.

AIM: -to enable students to use the adjectives in describing feelings,
worksheet no.1 and to give nouns corresponding to the following adjectives:
PROCEDURE: The teacher gives the sts. a worksheet with 2 columns:
The column A contains adjectives and column B contains titles of songs the
sts. have to choose the most suitable adj. to describe the sensations when you
listen them and match them with the right song ,the sts. may use more then one
adj. for a song.

MEET A TEEN DIVA

At 17 years old CHARLOTE CHURCH is like any other normal school girl. She likes
pizza, sleepover parties and giggling with her friends. But Charlote is different from them in
one way. She has an extraordinary voice and is the latest discovery of the music industry . It
may come as a surprise that she sings songs from opera and the works of classical composers
rather than pop music. Her first album Voice of an Angel was a runaway success and she is
the youngest solo artist to enter the TOP 30 US album charts. Whenever she performs, she is
electrifying.
She is every record producers dream. Not only has she got a remarkable voice but she
is also photogenic and has an engaging personality. She is the only child of working-class
parents from a suburb of Cardiff in South of Wales anf they are intensely proud of their
daughter. Her father works for a security firm and her mother gave up her job for being with
her on tour. This means Im not worried about her when she is abroad. She had auditions
many times for singing parts in theater musicals, she appeared on a talent show on TV and
this give her hope. An executive from Sony Music UK saw her, was excited by her voice and
offered her a contract. In the following two years , her career exploded.
At weekends and during her school holidays, her schedule is very busy. Sometimes
she gets tired of the lifestyle and misses her friends, but not often.
Next week she is travalling to Tokio to try to conquer the important Japanese market.
One day she hopes shell sing the lead role in Puccinis opera Madame Buterfly at LA
SCALA IN MILAN.
In the history of show business, there are many examples of young people with talent
in music, film or on the stage- who have not lived up to their early promis.

PROCEDURE: The teacher asks the sts. to read the following a text about a

accomplish her dream. Imagine a dialogue between the teenager and his/ her
parents.The students work in groups of four.
