Guidelines for the
Open Access Plagiarism Search
For Semester VIII BE Project Report
(Academic Year 2013-2014)

Anti-plagiarism Check certificate for the Report for the Final Year project:
All the student teams have to check their project report for plagiarism, which indicates
% similarity of the languages used during drafting, using a good plagiarism-checking/
search software package. You may use an Open Access Plagiarism Search software
like http://oaps.eu/
PROCEDURE FOR USING OAPS:
Each student team can register themself in this OAPS database (free open
source database) and upload their project report (excluding PDE report) either
in .doc or .pdf format after log in, using your generated user ID and password.

After successful uploading of file, the database will take 1hr to 4hr time period
to complete the analysis of % similarity. Meanwhile student can also log off
from the system and even stop the internet after uploading of file.
After a few hours, when the student logs in once again, he/she will get report
ready in html format.
On the first page of report, it will mention % similarity with other
published literatures on web. Take a print of the 1
st
page of this report.
Preferably the % factor should be less than 30%.
The 1st page of the report generated after online plagiarism check is required to be
signed by each of the team members as well as by the respective guide and it should
be attached mandatorily in the copies delivered to the College, to the Faculty Guide or
to the external mentor from the industries in case of IDP. The department should keep
a copy of these in a file after collecting them from all the teams.
A certificate of undertaking of plagiarism check (as given in Annexure-2) signed by
team members and guide need to be attached along with the project report (in the
copies delivered to the College, to the Faculty Guide or to the external mentor from
the industries in case of IDP).

Annexure 1
How to Check plagiarism through open access software
For plagiarism check, you can use your own plagiarism software if any. However please specify
the software used in the Report.
OR
You can use Open Access Plagiarism Search through www. oaps.eu.

For the Open Access Plagiarism Search, the steps to be followed are as follows:
1. Open the home page through http://www.Oaps.eu .
2. Go to Register option
3. Fill the required details
4. You will get the confirmation link to your email id, which you have provided.
5. Click on the link
6. You get the message that your account is successfully registered.
7. Go to My Account
8. Choose File
9. Upload File
10. Your plagiarism will start for checking showing the status as processing
11. After some time it shows the status as Ready. (Meanwhile, if you want you can do your
other work, OR you can log off even. The software continues its check). It may take half a day to
2 days to check a Report, so please be patient.
12. In the same window, you can see the options like, view, download or delete.
13. Down load the report. It will be downloaded as html page. Then the Ready option will
convert in Fetched
14. You need to save this report on your local drive. Take the print out of the 1

page of this web
generated report after plagiarism check which will have a report about % similarity with other
published literatures on web. Team has to sign it and attach along with certificate as
given in annexure-2.Both the above signed doc are required to be added next to other
certificates in the project report (in the copies delivered to the College, to the Faculty
Guide or to the external mentor from the industries in case of IDP).

We hereby certify that we are the sole authors of this IDP/UDP project report and that neither any part
of this IDP/UDP project report nor the whole of the IDP/UDP Project report has been submitted for a
degree by other student(s) to any other University or Institution.
We certify that, to the best of our knowledge, the current IDP/UDP Project report does not infringe
upon anyones copyright nor violate any proprietary rights and that any ideas, techniques, quotations or
any other material from the work of other people included in our IDP/UDP Project report, published or
otherwise, are fully acknowledged in accordance with the standard referencing practices. Furthermore,
to the extent that we have included copyrighted material that surpasses the boundary of fair dealing
within the meaning of the Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act 2012, we certify that we have obtained a

degree conferred upon the student(s) submitting this IDP/UDP Project report, in case it is found to be
