Amazing Grace

A Letter From Vicar Glenda

Members and Friends of Grace,

Everything has its timeEcclesiastes 3:1-2:

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2
a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up
what is planted.

The most important season for the church is Holy Week. Holy Week is The Triduum, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. Tim Brown who writes at Lutheran Blogs, says it is the whole life-span in
one fell swoop. It is Jesus life of serving, of dying, and of rising.

Please join us at Grace as we experience the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate Jesus
triumphal entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (April 13, 10:15 am), experience the sadness of an
outrageous betrayal on Maundy Thursday (April 17, 7:00 pm), feel the sorrow at the sight of Gods Son hanging
on a cross (April 18, 7:00 pm), and joyously celebrate our Risen Saviors Resurrection (EASTER Sunday, April
20, 10:15 am).

This season of the church is a gift from God. John 3:16-17, For God so loved the world that he gave his only
Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send
the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Gods
freely given gift of graceby grace you have been saved!

As we move from sorrow and darkness to witness the light of the world in Jesus Christ we pray:
O God, you are the creator of the world, the liberator of your people, and the
wisdom of the earth. By the resurrection of your Son free us from our fears,
restore us in your image, and ignite us with your light, through Jesus Christ,
our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, now and forever. AMEN!

Yours in Christ,

Vicar Glenda Ferguson

On The Road
For Our Holy Week Journey

The Biblical account of the last week of Jesus life reads like a travelogue. But this would be no
pleasure cruise for Jesus. This would be a monumental journey that would lead from one rocky road
to another, to what seemed to be the end of the road with his cross and grave, but it ultimately ends
with a bright path to paradise. Join with Jesus this Holy Week on this adventure of a lifetime, wont
you?

Palm Sunday, April 13
th

9:00 am Coffee and Breakfast
10:15 am Worship Service with the procession of palms
A donkey carries Jesus on a road covered in cloaks and flanked by palm
wavers. Hosanna! and Blessed it he! the people shout to Jesus along
this way into Jerusalem. We join our voices with theirs to our humble king
this day, but our praise is tinged with pain because we know a rough road
is looming ahead.

Maundy Thursday. April 17
th

7:00 pm Holy Communion Worship
The disciples file out of the Upper Room and quietly make their way to the
Garden of Gethsemane with their Lord and Master, Jesus. There we see
Jesus pray before he is betrayed and arrested. We make our way to or
places of prayer this day to confess that we have not always followed
Christ, but we are ready to make his way our way again.

Good Friday, April 18
th

7:00 pm Worship & Prayer Service
Bent over under the weight of the cross and stumbling on cracks in the
pavement on the way, Jesus nears Golgotha, the Place of the Skull, to be
crucified. This road is called the Way of Sorrows, and we see why. But we
know, too, that this is the road that Jesus has to take if the weight of sin is ever to
be lifted.

Easter, April 20
th

10:15 am Holy Communion Worship
With special music by Allan Pearson and the Grace Choir
Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that
the stone had been taken away from the tomb. This is the day that Jesus has
risen from the dead. Jesus is risen! He is risen indeed!

Gods Global Barnyard

Time to Clean House!
Have you been saving Box Tops for Education, Campbells Soup labels, aluminum pop
tabs or Sunmart Receipts? Well, if you have we want you to clean house! Please
bring all of these items to church within the next month so that we can send them off to where they belong.

We are collecting the Box Tops and soup labels for the Wahoo Elementary and
Ceresco Elementary schools.

We are collecting the aluminum tabs for Ronald McDonald House
Charities in Omaha. Sunmart Receipts are being turned in to benefit the
WELCA and their missions. If you have any questions about any of these
items, please contact Rhonda Obert at 402-443-5260 or
racepace@windstream.net. Thanks!

Backpack Mission Offering Update

Back in December, we asked the friends and members of Grace to make cash donations for the
backpack programs in the Ceresco/Raymond Central and Wahoo Public School districts. We
received $575 in donations! In addition, $575 in supplemental funds were received from our
Saunders County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans through their Care Abounds in
Communities program. Thats $1,150 that went to support children and their families in our
surrounding neighborhoods. Thank you to everyone who donated and to our local chapter of
Thrivent Financial!
