CIRCULAR
Sub.: University Electives for B.Tech./ M.Tech Programmes – Winter 2009‐10 Semester
The list of University Elective courses offered to B.Tech. and M.Tech. students by various Schools is
enclosed. These courses will help students to widen their knowledge in other related disciplines. Hence
students may be encouraged to take at least one University Elective. The last date for registering a
University Elective (UE) course with the faculty will be 10th December 2009 (Thursday).
While opting for the University Elective courses, the following procedure may be adopted.
1. These courses are meant for 3rd year B.Tech. students (Non‐FFCS) and / or M.Tech. students.
2. A B.Tech. student can register for a maximum of two UE courses during his entire Programme. These
two courses can be availed in a single semester also.
3. These UE courses are taken by the students in place of elective course(s) offered by their
Programme.
4. M.Tech. students are not permitted to take B.Tech. level UE courses.
5. A student willing to register for a UE should follow the following procedure:
a. The student shall write an application in a plain paper addressed to the Course teacher offering
the UE course, indicating the course code, course title, the School offering it and in which slot it
is being offered (A1/A2/B1/B2) and forward the same to the Course teacher through his/her
Programme Manager.
b. Only after ensuring that the student shall not exceeded the maximum limit of 2 courses during
his entire Programme and has met the prerequisites if any, the application should be signed by
the Programme Manager concerned.
c. The student should then present this application to the course teacher(s) concerned. It can be
approved/ rejected by the course teacher(s) concerned, depending on the assigned class
capacity and whether the student has met the prerequisites, if any.
d. If accepted, the student is considered to be formally enrolled in this course(s).
e. The last date for a student to register with the course teacher shall be 10th December 2009
(Thursday). Since the classes begin on 8th November 2009, students are advised to register at
the earliest and not to wait for the last date.
f. The attendance will be counted from 8th November 2009 (Tuesday) for all these courses (as per
slots).
g. For further details on these UE courses, student is advised to contact the School / faculty
concerned directly.
6. 16th December 2009 (Wednesday) and the same may be entered in ERP by the School. No further
registration should be accepted by the course teacher beyond the last date.
