INTRODUCTION


Who are Managers

A Managers is the person responsible for planning and directing the work of group of
individuals, monitoring their work, and taking corrective action when necessary. Manager
also can be defined as an individual who is in charge of a certain group of tasks, or a certain
subset of a company. The manager must be familiar with the work of all the group that he/she
supervises, but does not need to be the best in any or all areas. It is more important for the
manager to know how to manage the workers than to know how to do their work well. A
manager may have the power to hire or fire employees or to promote them. In larger
companies, a manager may only recommends such action to the next level of management.
The manager has the authority to change the work assignments of team members. There are
many management function in business and therefore, many manager titles. Regardless of
title, the manager is responsible for planning, directing, monitoring and controlling the people
and their work.

Characteristic of Manager

Each manager must have technical, human and conceptual to enable them to manage the
organization effectively. Possessed skills will enable them to make decisions more accurately
and quickly to any problems that arise. Manager must have the characteristics such as good
listener to their workers, can communicate ideas and to comunnicate effectively and
persuasively. A good manager also can communicate or interact in vertical and horizontal
well, charismatic, self-image and appearance good. A manager should have self-confidence
and endurance in facing the challanges or problems. He can act and make decisions and be
responsible for his decision. Not just that all characteristic that manager have but a manager
should be fair and considerate to all subordinate, can motivate them and works as a team.






Planning

Planning is a management process that involves selecting a mission, setting objectives and
statistic action plan to achieve it. Its also involves decision making process that make up a
plan action. Planning requires that managers be aware of environmental conditions facing
their organization and forecast future conditions.

Organizing

Organizing refers to the function of management that involves developing an organizational
structure and allocating human resources to ensure the accomplishment of objectives. The
structure of the organization is the framework within which effort is coordinated. The
structure is usually represented by an organization chart, which provides a graphic
representation of the chain of command within an organization.

Leading

Leading involves the social and informal source of influence that you use to inspire action
taken by others. If managers are affective leaders, the subordinates will be enthusiastic about
exerting effort to attain organizational objectives. Personality research and studies of job
attitudes provide important information as to how managers can most effectively lead
subordinates.

Controlling

Controlling involves ensuring that performance does not deviate from standards. controlling
consists of three steps, which include establishing performance standards, comparing actual
performance against standards, and taking corrective action when necessary. Performance
standards are often stated in monetary terms such as revenue, costs, or profits but may also be
stated in other terms, such as units produced, number of defective products, or levels of
quality or customer service.

a remarkable personal help in every step of the way . First of all is there interest in commerce
