COURSE OBJECTIVE
The course content will provide students with a holistic overview of a variety of aspects of
Knowledge management including intellectual capital and organizational learning. Most
importantly, theoretical conceptualizations will be transformed into practical implications that
can be utilized in the workplace environment.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to enhance students capacity to do the job of a knowledge manager
and/or successfully design and implement corporate knowledge management initiatives. Topics
to be covered include:

Concept of Knowledge
Defining Knowledge Management
History and Evolution of Knowledge Management
Elements of Knowledge Management (Knowledge Creation and Knowledge Sharing)
characteristics of knowledge-intensive organizations and knowledge workers;
identification, measurement and management of intellectual capital;
Knowledge Roles and skills
Knowledge Management Tools
Implementation of Knowledge Management
Critical Success Factors of Knowledge Management Projects
Role of Knowledge Management in Public Sector
Applications of Knowledge Management in Enterprise Organization(HR, Marketing,
Finance etc)

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to complete the following key tasks:

Interpret and understand the concept of knowledge management in terms of current
business practices and technologies.
Identify and understand the role of Knowledge Management in enterprise organizations
Plan, design and implement Knowledge Management initiatives in organizations

EVALUATION
Learning in this course results primarily from in-class discussion of readings and cases and out
of class analysis. The balance of the learning results from the lectures on concepts, from related
readings, and from researching your presentations, cases, assignments and projects. All work will
be evaluated on an individual basis except in certain cases where group work is expected. Group
members will share the same grade in group projects. Your final grade will be calculated
according to the following breakdown:
