Installation

As with all electrical equipment, the appropriate specifications and practices governing installation must be followed when
power factor correction equipment is installed. Before removing the front nameplate to adjust the function or DIP switch,
always ensure that your body is not carrying any electrostatic charge. This can be accomplished by touching a grounded
object, such as the switchboard metal housing to dissipate any electrical charge before removing the nameplate.

1 Check that the measurement and control voltage, supply frequency and current transformer rating comply with the ratings
given on the back of the BLR-CX power factor controller.

2 Mount the relay in the panel by means of the two plastic retaining clamps: to remove the clamps from the instrument,
gently lift the tab away from the instrument body and it will slide off. To replace and tighten, slide in snugly.

3 The BLR-CX uses rear mounted terminal blocks featuring spring loaded connections that accept stripped wire directly (no
crimped lugs required), 12 AWG max. To the side of the actual connection is a small spring release lever that you push
down to allow the wire to be placed in the connection. The lever is designed to fit a small flat blade screwdriver to be
used in the pushing action a 1/8 (3 mm) flat blade is suggested. Do not use excessive force on the spring release lever.

4 Please note the fuses shown on the wiring diagram: these are fuses that must be provided by you to protect the controller
and your panel wiring.

5 As you begin the wiring of your controller, the markings on the unit and the wiring diagrams will refer to the three phases
as L1, L2, L3 these correspond to A, B, C. Wire the controller in accordance with the wiring diagram. The correct
calculation of power factor requires that the wiring exactly follows the rotational direction of the three phases; this means
that the L2 and L3 measurement connections as well as the CT (on L1) must be followed precisely. For example, if L2
and L3 are reversed or the CT is installed backwards, the controller will provide incorrect information and control outputs
will be wrong or not operational.
Pay special attention to the wire size for the C.T. connections. We recommend that for runs up to 25 feet or 8
metres, 12 AWG should be used.
An integrated voltage detector monitors the supply voltage at N and L connections (identified as GRID connections on
the diagram) in BLR-CX and guarantees a safety-disconnection of the capacitors in the case where monitored voltage
drops below 70% of nominal. For this monitoring feature to be successful, the grid or supply voltage must be taken from
the identical phase as control voltage for the contactors. The steel rear cover of the controller has a tab for grounding the
instrument to the switchboard insuring maximum safety.

6 Current connection of the controller is designed for current transformers with a secondary of either 5 A or 1 A. Selectable
CT ratios up to 4000 / 1 maximum may be programmed. Note, the CT ratio setting is only required for BLR-CX
controllers with the measurement display option M.

Set Up

This section is both a learning guide to let you know which parameters are adjustable and also a section to be used during the
commissioning function when you actually have power applied to the unit. Illimite Incorporated suggests that you review this
section now (before power up) and have it available as you initially set up and test the controller during commissioning.

Behind the removable nameplate on the front of the BLR-CX is a multifunction switch (H3) and 2 pushbuttons (+ and -).

On units with option L (Fan Control) there is a bank of 2 additional DIP switches (S1/S2) fitted for selecting one of the four
temperature threshold levels to switch the fan control relay contact.

On units with option M (Measurement Display Functions) 2 touch pads are incorporated in the front panel for selecting and
displaying electrical values. These are also used in place of printed circuit board mounted switches (+ and -) found on the
BLR-CX controllers (without the M option) used for setting the various parameters for the multifunction switch (H3).

Altering or re-setting the controllers parameters is performed with power applied to N and L terminals of the BLR-CX and by
means of the + and - pushbuttons or touch pads after the multifunction switch position has been selected. Default parameters
are set at the factory to facilitate commissioning the BLR-CX; default values are shown later in this section.

Please note: when you are changing settings, the selected values will only be stored in the BLR-CX if the multifunction
switch is placed back into position 3 again after the changes or changes are made and before power is removed!

Multifunction Switch (H3) Positions 0 to 9 and A to F

0 Loss of capacitance value. The BLR-CX is removed from automatic operation in this position. Energized steps (if any)
will automatically be disconnected after 20 seconds. Use this switch position to set a threshold level where an alarm is
generated indicating that the capacitor step has lost value from the first level measured at start up. The setting is a
percentage of original value (original being 100%), therefore, set in a range of 10% to 60 %. using the + and buttons or
touch pads. This will provide an alarm condition when a capacitor step falls to your set percentage. Default value from the
factory is 50 %. The display indicates OFF alternating with 50 for default setting. If you change this setting, your
value will alternately flash with OFF.

1 PF target set., This allows you to define your target PF (power factor). Set in the range from (inductive) 0.70 lag to 1.00
to (capacitive) 0.90 lead using the buttons or touch pads. Default value is cos = 1.00

2 Switching time delay. This allows you to set the delay time before the step control relays change state either turning on
or off each element of the bank. Set a time delay for from 5 to 1200 seconds. Push the + or button successively for small
adjustments or continue holding the button for more than 2 seconds for rapid change. Default delay is 40 seconds.

3 Fully automatic control of the PF control system. This is the normal operating position for the switch. Display
indicates the existing power factor with either I for inductive (lagging) or c for capacitive (leading) load. The display is
updated every 3 seconds. A flashing dot in the display above either the + or signs indicates that the BLR-CX is selecting
a suitable capacitor, if available, to correct the reactive power deviation that is measured at that moment.
Electrical parameters may be displayed with the switch in this position for controllers with the M option

4 Manual operation. Manual operation is possible providing that the L2 - L3 voltage is a minimum of 50 volts. By
alternately pushing either the + or the button, steps will be (respectively) activated or deactivated after the preset
switching time delay defined in switch position 2 has been allowed. Letter H will be displayed alternating with the actual
PF measured at that time (H = 1 sec. PF = 5 sec.).

5 Selection of number of steps. Step limitation is set to match the number of elements in the bank of your PF correction
system. The digits after BLR-CX-xx indicate the maximum number available to you (i.e. BLR-CX-12 can control a
maximum of 12 steps). Set the number of steps only to the number of elements in your bank as alarms will be initiated by
the controller if the number is set higher than steps available (it will believe that the extra steps are not working). The
display will indicate CL 8 if you set the number of steps to 8, CL 12 if you set it to 12 and so on.

6 Automatic display of failed Capacitors. Use this switch position if you receive an AL alarm indication on the display
that is not related to the target PF not being met. This position will indicate the location of either failed capacitor steps or
relay / contactor outputs that have not correctly controlled the capacitor. Indication of Cd 05 alternating with Cd 09
indicates, that steps 5 and 9 are failing. To reset any alarm press button + and simultaneously for greater than 20
seconds. When using this switch position, Cd 0 indicates that no step has failed. The BLR-CX will continue to operate
in the automatic control mode while the switch is in this position.

7 Number of switching operations. The number of switching operations that each contactor has made is shown in the
display. For example OC 4 for 2 seconds then followed by 248. This indicates that contactor number 4 has completed
248 switching operations. Other contactors can be selected by using the + and - buttons. The BLR-CX accurately updates
the number of switching operations to memory for each contactor after a total of 10 switching operations regardless of
which contactor switches during the batch of 10. The stored data of all steps can be cancelled by depressing the + and -
buttons simultaneously for greater than 20 seconds. Of course, if you reset this, you will no longer have the historical data
in the controllers memory. The BLR-CX will continue to operate in the automatic control mode while the switch is in
this position.

8 Indication of Step Sizes. The value indicated on the display is proportional to the step size, but it is not calculated in kVar
as the CT ratio is unknown (see exception below for models with the M option). It will be displayed, for example, as
CC 10 for the 10
th
step, followed by 2 numbers such as L 74 and F 84. Value F stands for the first sensed
capacitor size during commissioning and L for the last value that may be several months or years later. This allows you
to recognize any loss of capacity since the original commissioning of the BLR-CX and the compensation system. If the
selected threshold level value chosen when setting multifunction switch position 0 is not met due to a failed capacitor or
blown fuse, the controller eliminates this step from control procedure and triggers alarm AL which is shown in the
display. The data for each step may be displayed by means of either + or button. If you wish to reset the stored data,
push buttons + and simultaneously for greater than 20 seconds. The controller learns each step value from the original
commissioning and updates the L value during regular operation. Of course, if you reset this, the original data is lost.
BLR-CX controllers with the M option (display of measured values) will show the sensed capacitor sizes in actual kVar
as a CT ratio is programmed in order to display correct electrical values. See switch position D and also option M for
CT ratio set up.

9 Selection of Alarm Mode. This switch position allows selection of one of 3 different alarm modes on the controller:
(1) A_0 The A_0 selection disables all alarm functions and no alarm indicators will appear on the display.
(2) A_1 This setting provides the alarm function with automatic reset when the alarm is no longer present.
(3) A_2 The A_2 setting is the alarm function with manual reset required after the alarm has cleared.
The mode selection of these three options is achieved by use of the + and pushbuttons or touch pads; you chose the
option that you require and turn the switch back to the 3 position for normal operation. All alarms, regardless of the
source will follow the mode that you select (see Alarms and also Options for the various alarm types).
If you have set the BLR-CX in the A_2 position that requires manual reset, you will need to return the switch to this (the
9 position) to achieve reset. To reset, toggle the + and buttons to find position A_3 then push and hold the + for greater
than 5 seconds. The reset will be confirmed by a display of A r E S. Release the + button and set the display to the A_2
position to restore the manual reset mode, then return the switch to position 3 for normal operation.
There is one exception to the re-setting of manual reset alarms and that is the AL indicator associated with Automatic
Display of Failed Capacitors. For this alarm with the mode set for A_2 (manual reset), please use the reset procedure
defined under switch position 6.

A Selection of a 2
nd
Power Factor Target (available with option L only).
Set the second target PF in the same way as the primary target was set by you with multifunction switch position 1.
Set in the range from (inductive) 0.70 lag to 1.00 to (capacitive) 0.90 lead using the buttons or touch pads.
The 2
nd
PF target will be activated by sending a control voltage of 150-240 V AC on terminals NT/NT1. The NT LED to
the right of the step indicator LEDs will be illuminated when the 2
nd
power factor target is active.

B Selection of an asymmetrical Switching Time Delay. Selectable range of an asymmetric factor: 1 to 99 by means of
pushing touch pad or button + or -. Displaying, for example, Y_10 multiplies the pre-selected switching time defined
in switch position 2 by a factor of 10 for disconnecting steps (rapid switching in, slow switching out). Default value from
the factory is 1, indicating symmetrical switching time delay for both directions.

C Selection of a Lock Time at each Change of Switching Direction up or down. The BLR-CX includes a variable load
reversal lock-out time that is activated when switching direction changes from up to down or down to up. A
display of L_30 means a lock time of 30 seconds before any switching function becomes effective. This lock time will
be added to the preset switching time delay set under switch position 2. This provides a reduction of the switching
operations with rapidly changing loads. Selectable range of lock time is 1 to 254 seconds. Factory default value is 30.

D Selection of CT (current transformer) Ratio (use only with option M)
Display indicates _not for units without option M. Only set this value if you do have the M option.
To set this parameter for the BLR-CX-xx-M or BLR-CX-xx-L-M, divide the primary value of the CT ratio by the
secondary (i.e. a 400 to 5 CT would be 400/5 = 80) and set this value (your equivalent of the 80) using the + and
buttons or touch pads. Holding the button down for greater than 2 seconds advances the value rapidly. Maximum value
that can be programmed is 4000. The factory default is 100.

E Selection of PT (potential or voltage transformer) Ratio (use only with option M)
Display indicates _not for units without option M. Only set this value if you do have the M option.
To set this parameter for the BLR-CX-xx-M or BLR-CX-xx-L-M, divide the primary value of the PT ratio by the
secondary (i.e. a 12000 to 120 PT would be 12000/120 = 100) and set this value (your equivalent of the 100) using the
+ and buttons or touch pads. Holding the button down for greater than 2 seconds advances the value rapidly. Maximum
value that can be programmed is 350. The factory default is 1.

F Selection of Switching Program. There are 4 switching programs available (2 for three phase and 2 for single phase
application), use the + and buttons or touch pads to select the program you require. After any change of this parameter,
first return the function switch to position 3 after which you must reset the controller by removing power for 1 minute
then reapply power. The BLR-CX is now ready to function with the chosen switching program. Programs as follows:
(1) Auto Fully automatic recognition of each capacitor size without fixed program; intelligent and automatic selection
of the suitable capacitor to achieve the preset power factor target with the minimum of switching operations. Use this
program on three phase PF systems (CT is on L1 and voltage connections are on L2 and L3).
(2) 1 1 1 1: Fully automatic recognition of each capacitor size. Linear switching program up from 1 to 12 and down 12
to 1 means FILO/LIFO (first in last out / last in first out). Use this program on three phase PF systems (CT is on L1 and
voltage connections are on L2 and L3).
(3) Eaut Identical to Auto, however use this on single phase connection where voltage connections are L1 and N.
(4) E111 Identical to 1111, however use this on single phase connection where voltage connections are L1 and N.
Factory default is AUTO.

Please remember that after any changes have been made, you will need to return the multifunction switch back to position 3 before
you remove power in order to save your changes.

Commissioning

1 Apply the grid supply, measurement and control voltages. Connect the CT and only after it is connected, remove any
short circuit link. If the measurement voltage is taken from phase L1 to neutral (for single phase operation of the units
measurement function), please make sure that the appropriate switching program has been selected (see Set Up switch
position F). If your measurement is for 3 phase operation (voltage connections on L2 / L3 and CT on L1), the default
AUTO program should be left in place (only change the 3 phase program from Auto if you need FIFO/LIFO program).
The following are indications that you may see during the commissioning function:
1) Display shows IO This indicates that no current is flowing from the secondary of the CT (a minimum of 10 mA
is required for the BLR-CX to be operational). If any capacitors had been energized before, these steps will be
disconnected after 5 minutes (this is possible when parallel operation of capacitor banks is in use). If the controller is set
to manual mode, any active steps continue to be active.
2) Display shows U0 This indicates that the measurement voltage is below 50 V or not connected.
Later, when the BLR-CX is placed in switch position 3, it will start to control automatically if the measurement voltage is
50 V or above and reactive component of CT output is 10 mA or greater.
If the measurement voltage drops below 50 V, any energized steps will be switched off after a delay of 2 seconds
regardless of whether the unit is in automatic or manual mode. For now, place multifunction switch in position 0 (OFF).

2 This is a reminder of the factory default values as previously stated in the Set Up section:
Capacitor percentage level that triggers alarm condition due to deterioration of capacitance over a period of time = 50%.
Power factor target = 1.0; switching time delay 40 seconds; step limitation to the BLR-CX-xx maximum set to number
of steps available; alarm mode = A-1; asymmetrical switching time factor = 1; load reversal lock time = 30 seconds;
CT ratio = 100; PT (VT) ratio = 1.0; switching mode = AUTO for standard 3 phase measurement (voltage on L2 / L3 and
CT on L1). Any value changes are performed by the multifunction switch (H3) and push buttons + or - as described in the
Set Up section. You can verify each setting by rotating the multifunction switch and the present set up value will be
displayed. Do not forget to return the switch to Auto (position 3) when finished to save any new values. The factory
default values have been installed in the controller to get a new system commissioned quickly but of course these values
can be changed at any time during commissioning or as the system is in use and conditions require new values. If you
changed then saved (position 3) new values at this time, return the multifunction switch back to position 0 (OFF) now.

3 In item #1or #2 of this section, you placed the multifunction switch to position 0 (OFF); with power connected and the
switch in this position, the display will indicate an alternating message of OFF and 50. This is the default setting of
capacitor deterioration percentage to trigger an alarm. If you require a different percentage, change it now by the
instructions found in Set Up switch position 0. After any change has been made in the value, move the multifunction
switch to position 3 the Automatic mode; this saves the new value** or retains the default if no change was made.

4 With the switch now in position 3, a no volt release lock time of 90 seconds will be in effect before the BLR-CX starts to
control the PF compensation system. During this period steps will not be activated. After the lock time expires, you may
have action from the controller depending on your electrical system condition with regard to PF or how you have set up
your system test. You are now ready to confirm (or change) the rest of the adjustable parameters of the unit.

5 Check preset power factor target in position 1 and select new value if required. Save it if you change it.**

6 Check preset switching time delay position 2 and select new value if required. Save it if you change it.**

7 Check preset step limitation and if required, change to the real number of connected capacitors via switch position 5.
If any relay output, related contactor or capacitor controlled by the BLR-CX does not effect the PF compensation as
would be expected during normal operation (not necessarily an immediate effect during commissioning), it will be
recognized. The controller tests each non-performing step 3 times to confirm that it is inoperative and will lock this step
out for 1 day; a removal of power or an unintentional power failure will reset the knowledge that the step is inoperative
as will a reset initiated through the actions performed at switch position 6. After any of these events, the previously
inoperative steps will be checked again (3 times each). If they are inoperative, they will be recorded as alarms and
displayed as AL. If you made a change in this switch positions value save it.**

8 Check preset alarm mode using switch position 9 to confirm it is correct; select new value if required then save it.**

9 Set back the multifunction switch into position 3 and the BLR-CX will start normal automatic operation.

10 Display indicates the current power factor cos phi for example. l 0.87 for inductive or c 0.94 for capacitive load.

11 With all wiring checked for accuracy, the multifunction switch in position 3, the various parameters set correctly and the
no volt release lock time being completed, now apply an inductive load to the system. A dot in the display will begin to
flash above the + sign.

** As you change values with the multifunction switch, you can either save changes one at a time by going back to switch
position 3 each time or make several changes and then go to position 3 before you remove power.
Jan / 05 contact ILLIMITE INC. for questions on the BLR-CX through our web site www.illimite.com or www.beluk.com
page 6

12 The BLR-CX controller will start to energize each step one by one in order to achieve the power factor target. A delay
between the initiation of steps will be noted as the selected value for the switching time delay is applied before each step
is started. LED`s below the main display will indicate the activated steps. Each step must influence the measured cos phi
and that will be reflected in an updated PF value being stated on the display. If, when the step brings in (or drops out)
capacitance, there continues to be a deviation of the measured power factor compared with the target PF, a dot at + sign
will flash in the case of PF is below target or dot at - sign will flash in case of PF is above the target. As the process of
adding and subtracting capacitance through this process continues, the controller compares the capacitive value and effect
of each step that is then placed in non-volatile memory. This is used to choose the most effective step or combination of
steps to correct future PF compensation needs.

13 Due to the learning function described in the last paragraph, with the BLR-CX it is not necessary to preset any C/k
value (threshold level when to start to switch a step in or out) as each step size will be sensed automatically. The
controller does not follow a fixed switching program in the automatic mode. It will select a suitable capacitor(s), if
recorded already, in order to achieve the target. During the daily operational routine, all capacitor effectiveness will be
stored with regard to size in numbers proportional to the capacitance (see position 8 of multifunction switch). There is no
indication in kVar as the CT ratio is unknown (except for units with option M). Where the compensation system uses
equally sized capacitors, the BLR-CX distributes switching operations equally to capacitors as much as possible. For
special applications there is a fixed switching program available in the ratio 1:1:1:1 (see switch position F).

14 On specific occasions, the display may have a dot (above either the + or ) flashing steadily and the controller will not
switch any step on or off: this is due to the BLR-CX not being able to find a suitable step size to compensate for the
deviation between the measured PF and the target PF. Under conditions where the measured PF is identical with the target
PF, only this PF value will be shown on the display.

15 If you are commissioning the controller but do not have an existing load, a preliminary check of the capacitor bank may
be made in manual mode (multifunction switch in position 4). Use push button + for switching on capacitors and to
disconnect. Ensure that the measurement voltage is > 50 V if you use this switch position. In this mode there is no
automatic sensing of step sizes provided this is for manual operation only. When you return back to switch position 3,
the BLR-CX must disconnect all steps automatically and wait the lock time before it returns to automatic operation.

Once all required values are confirmed and / or changed, set the multifunction switch (H3) to position 3
(AUTOMATIC) and replace the front cover plate to prevent unauthorized changes of controllers settings,
remove power from the unit only after you have placed switch in position 3 in order to save your settings.

Alarm Functions

Alarms are visually shown on the display as well as by a contact changeover on the alarm relay. The relay is set for fail
safe operation; this means that when the BLX-CX is operating and everything is normal, the relay is energized and
contacts M MO are open, and M MS are closed. When an alarm is present M MO closes and M MS opens.

1 Power Factor Alarm - display shows AL and alarm contact M MO closes, M MS opens.
If the predetermined power factor is not obtained due to insufficient capacitance, an alarm signal is triggered after an
elapse of 75 x the selected step switching time, this is valid for both directions - lead and lag. If the set PF target is
surpassed due to overcompensation (welded contacts) after an elapse of 75 x the selected step switching time, the alarm
will be triggered and AL displayed.
Alarm reset (if required) is performed according to the description under Set Up switch position 9 (note if auto reset is
selected under this switch position, reset is not required).

2 The alarm will also be triggered if the BLR-CX controller has detected failed step(s). A L x x will be displayed
alternating with other functions (cos phi) every 5 seconds. Alarm contact M MO closes, M MS opens.
Alarm reset (if required) is performed according to the description under Set Up switch position 6 (note if auto reset is
selected under this switch position, reset is not required)

3 If the supply voltage fails, there is no indication in display due to lack of power but contact at terminals
M MO will close and M MS will open providing a remote alarm contact for signalling purposes.

Data Transmission

Software WINBSTO is a simple data extraction program that provides basic information regarding power factor, operation
cycles, any triggered alarm. The data is time stamped and dated on a PC for purposes of analysis (the time / date are the PCs values
as the BLR-CX does not have an internal time / date system). Each switching operation of the controller is accompanied with 2 sets
of information via the TTL-interface (14-position connector on the rear of controller), one before and one after switching procedure.
This allows a review of the compensation effect of each step of the PF correction system. An interface cable with integrated
converter (TTL to RS232) for transmitting the data to the PC is required. Contact Illimite for details. Additional software may be
available for special applications if you have special requirements, please contact us through our web site at www.illimite.com or
www.beluk.com and we will be pleased to assist you

It is possible to store data with an external data logger model number DS 21, 22 or 23 at the BLR-CX location within a defined
period of time. After the information is recorded, the data logger may be removed to send the information to a PC using a text
program. Contact Illimite for details.

Optional Features

Option L Fan Control & 2
nd
PF Target

1 Fan Control
The L option includes a rear mounted sensor that is used to detect a rise in the overall cabinet temperature. When
the sensor detects a temperature level above one of the four preset values, a fan control relay contact is activated at
terminals LF / LF1. The fan control relay operates in the following manner:

The temperature is continuously monitored in 8 minute time windows. If the temperature exceeds the preset value
for approximately 24 seconds within the 8 minute window, the contact closes and stays closed until the sensor
detects that the temperature has dropped below the preset value in a subsequent 8 minute time window. This could be
the next time window if the cabinet cooled down rapidly or it could be after several 8 minute windows have elapsed
if it takes a long time to remove the excess heat. Reset (contacts open) is achieved either automatically if the BLR-
CX has been set in the A-1 mode (see multifunction switch position 9 in the Set Up section) or manually if the reset
mode is set to A-2. For manual reset method, see the switch position 9 for details.
The fan control contacts are rated at 250v / 5A max. While the fan control relay is active, the display will flash HA
alternating with the normally displayed data. If both a power factor alarm and a temperature alarm happen
simultaneously, the display will indicate AH and both alarm relays will be triggered.

Preset temperature levels are 30 C, 35 C, 40 C and 45 C; these correspond to 86 F, 95 F, 104 F and 113 F
respectively. To set the desired threshold temperature, remove front nameplate and program dip switches as shown
below:
Temperature 30 35 40 45
DIP S1 OFF ON OFF ON
DIP S2 OFF OFF ON ON

2 2
nd
Power Factor Target (High / Low Tariff)
As described in the Set Up section, multifunction switch position A, there is a second power factor target in the
range from (inductive) 0.70 lag to 1.00 to (capacitive) 0.90 lead. The 2
nd
PF target is set in exactly the same manner
as the primary target except you are using switch position A.
To switch the BLR-CX series controller with the L option from the primary PF target to the 2
nd
PF target, a control
voltage from 150 vac to 240 vac must be applied to terminals NT and NT1. This is usually supplied by a time
controlled relay or switch that defines when each of the selectable PF targets is desired. The primary PF target is
always the default if no voltage is applied.

Option M Measurement of Electrical Values

BLR-CX series controllers with the M option are supplied with a faceplate that includes two touch pads, + and - . The touch
pads have a dual purpose: 1) they replace push buttons located behind the nameplate as found in the BLR-CX without M
option and 2) they provide an easy method of selecting electrical system values that you wish to display. In order to display
electrical values, transformer ratios for current and voltage must be entered into the controller and permanently saved. The two
settings are made at multifunction switch positions D and E. Settings are saved by returning the switch to position 3 for Auto
operation.

The instructions for these settings are repeated below:

D Selection of CT (current transformer) Ratio
To set this parameter for the BLR-CX-xx-M or BLR-CX-xx-L-M, divide the primary value of the CT ratio by the
secondary (i.e. a 400 to 5 CT would be 400/5 = 80) and set this value (your equivalent of the 80) using the + and
buttons or touch pads. Holding the button down for greater than 2 seconds advances the value rapidly. Maximum value
that can be programmed is 4000. The factory default is 100.

E Selection of PT (potential or voltage transformer) Ratio
To set this parameter for the BLR-CX-xx-M or BLR-CX-xx-L-M, divide the primary value of the PT ratio by the
secondary (i.e. a 12000 to 120 PT would be 12000/120 = 100) and set this value (your equivalent of the 100) using the
+ and buttons or touch pads. Holding the button down for greater than 2 seconds advances the value rapidly. Maximum
value that can be programmed is 350. The factory default is 1.

Please note: when you are changing settings, the selected values will only be stored in the controller if the multifunction
switch is placed back into position 3 again after the changes or changes are made and before power is removed!

After the transformer ratios have been set, it will be possible to use the + and touch pads
to scroll from the default display of power factor to other electrical system values as
shown.

As the transformer ratios have been set, the BLR-CX series with the M option is able to
display values correctly including an automatic change from (for example) a reading of
9999kW to 10.0MW as the value increases.

Values are updated every three seconds.

The pictorial information below is a sketch of the control devices that you have available in the BLR-CX-L. If you have a
BLR-CX-M or BLR-CX-L-M, the + and will not be installed as they are replaced by the touch pads on the faceplate.
On the BLR-CX without options, the S1 and S2 switches are not installed (used on the L option only).
S1/S2 are used to set fan temperature control, H3 is the multifunction switch and + / - buttons each side are to change values.
The panel cutout for the BLR-CX series is 138 x 138 mm (+ . 5 mm, - 0) Equivalent in inches is 5.43 (+ . 020 , - 0)
Please note that if you are retofitting an older controller where the cutout is only 137 x 137 mm, the BLR-CX has 8 small
locating tabs that may be removed by filing or a sharp knife and the new controller will fit the original 137 x 137 opening.
Overall size of the BLR-CX that will be visable on the outside of cabinet or panel is 144 x 144 mm or 5.67 inches square.
Please note location of fuses shown in L, L2, L3 (if used), A and for optional fan + NT connections
LF and NT1. These must be provided to protect the installation wiring and the BLR-CX controller.
