Dignity of labor

The status of workers was very low in ancient greek and roman
civilization, capitalism also didnt do much to uplift the status of
worker. Though, socialistic system rose voice for the workers but it
deprived workers of their dignity.
In contrast to the aforementioned civilizations and economics
systems, islam established rights of the labors and elevated their
position in the society.
Demand of vicegerency
Man is the vicegerent of Allah in universe. Allah has bestowed upon
man, many things like resources, senses. Man is to make good use of
everything been given to him. He will be held accountable for
bounties.
DEMAND OF MUTUAL COOPERATION
In this world every being is dependent on others for wants and
services. By mutual cooperation only can these wants be fulfilled. No
work which is lawful and within the shariah boundry is low or
humiliating.
Prophets sunnah
Every prophet set precedence of manual labor. Hazrat essa, hazrat
moosa, hazrat ibrahm, hazrat muhammad and similarly every
prophet performed different kinds of labor. Masses should follow the
path of prophets.
Personal conduct of prophets Apostle
The prophet used to do daily routine work by himself. He encouraged
his companions to carry out manual work of various kinds.
He who earns his living by work is Allahs friend
Prophet has strictly forbade begging, and to be completely
dependent on others.
Capital labor relation
The capitalist system is tilted in the favor of capitalists. Labor is
exploited. Communism has also failed to give labor a dignified status.
Islam is partial in case of labor and capitalist. Islam advocates a
relation between the two, based on principle of justice and
benevolence.
Labor and capital is linked to the basic values of , unity of mankind,
brotherhood, and accountability in the hereafter. Islam has given
both separate rights so that economic activity can go on smoothly.

Rights of workers
Rights of workers are as
Fraternal rights
While making a contract, the employer should consider the
employee as brethren. He should like to elevate the worker to
prosperous level.
Those who work under you are your brothers. Allah has
subordinated them to you

Setting the wage rates
Wages should be settled before labor is put to work. The wage rate
should be enough to provide the basic necessities of life to worker.
Wages should not only be just, but enough to elevate the worker to
the position of employer.
so who has a brother working under him he should feed and cloth
him with the same stuff as he uses himself
The worker should be given wage abruptly in order to meet his
demands.
The employer should strictly adhere to terms of contract.
The work load should be with in the capacity of the worker. If a
worker is put to additional work, he should be justly compensated
and safe working condition should be provided to the worker
The worker should be treated kindly. A liberal attitude of forgiveness
and tolerance should be adopted toward lapses of the worker.
even your servant makes seventy mistakes a day forgive him
o Abu masaud! Remember Allah has more power over you that you
have over this servant

Right to withdraw from work
Right of with drawl by a worker is well recognized by islam. Islam
allows the slaves to buy their freedom through MAKATBAT i.e paying
their ransom. if a slave offers handsome ransom to his master, the
master is bound to set the slave free. Other the worker can get
freedom through court of law.
Assignment of lawful work
Labor should be assigned lawful work only.
The creature shall not be obeyed in disobedience to the creator
