1. Due to the harsh winter, you are allowed to roll your ball (with your club) 6 inches in your own
fairway no closer to the hole. You are not allowed to lift, clean or place. Balls in the rough, a hazard
or in a fairway which is not your own may not be rolled. All Courses.
2. USGA Rules will govern all play except as those modified by local rules as shown below.
3. Speed of Play: Please keep up with the group ahead of you. Pace of play is 4 hours. Please help
others in your group keep track of their shots. Proceed directly to your ball and play ready golf. If
you and your partner are not playing cart golf, take your clubs and proceed to your ball on foot in
order to save time. Keep up with the group ahead of you. If there is an empty hole, you are playing
too slowly. First offense: Warning; Second offense: ONE STROKE PENALTY. The penalty will be
assessed to the responsible individual(s).
4. Cell Phones: The LWCGA rules do not permit the use of cell phones on the course unless they are
used as a GPS measuring device. If you are using your phone as a GPS measuring device, please
make sure that your phone is on silent and that you are not using your cell phones for anything else
besides access to a GPS app.
5. Best Ball Competition: Best ball competition is a two-day event (Friday and Saturday). If you are
also entered in the 3-day stroke play, each player must finish each hole even if her score will not
count for best-ball because it will count for stroke play. Failure to do so will disqualify that player
from the stroke play competition. If you are only playing the Best Ball competition (2-day), then you
may pick up if you are out of the hole. BEST BALL vs. STROKE PLAY: USGA advises that best-ball
rules supersede the rules of stroke Play. You may ask advice from your partner during the best- ball
competition. You are permitted to give advice to your partner during the best-ball competition.
However, no one is permitted to stand behind you when you are playing any shot.
6. Ties: Ties for 1
st
place in the stroke play Championship flight will result in a playoff immediately
following completion of the round. Ties in all other flights will be determined by a scorecard playoff,
starting with the number one handicap hole on the course last played.
7. Best-Ball ties will be broken by a scorecard playoff of the course last played, starting with the total
of the last 9 holes played (see Appendix I, 11(c) of the USGA Rules of Golf).
8. Posting Scores: Participants should NOT post their own scores. The Tournament Committee will
post all scores for all stroke play golfers as tournament scores.
9. Best Ball: The pops for the Best Ball portion of the event are based on 80% of your GHIN course-
adjusted handicap. If you feel that yours is incorrect, please contact a member of the committee
before signing your scorecard.
10. Exchange Scorecards: Exchange scorecards with opponents at the first tee. After completion of the
round, sign your scorecard, as well as the scorecard of your opponents, making sure both are
correct. Give the scorecard to the committee before exiting the premises. Failure to do so will
result in disqualification of the individuals involved for the round involved.
11. Tees: Play the Red tees at Holmes, White tees at Highlands and the Red Tees at Yankee Hill.
12. Rule 3-3: If there is any doubt regarding a rule or procedure, the competitor must announce to her
fellow-competitors her intention of playing a second ball without penalty. The competitor must
report the situation to the Committee.
13. Staked Trees. All staked trees are considered nursery trees. If they interfere with your stance or
swing you may have free relief. Drop within one club length, no closer to the hole.
14. Caddies: If you have a caddie, declare that person as your caddie to the tournament committee
and to your fellow competitors at the beginning of each round; caddie must be at least 13 years of
age. The caddie must carry your bag or pull your bag on a pull cart, but may not ride in a cart. That
person may give you advice, but may not position himself on or close to an extension of the line of
play or the line of putt behind the ball. (Rule 14-2). You may have only one caddie at a time during
a round. ALL OTHER PERSONS ARE DECLARED GALLERY AND MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 75 FEET
AWAY FROM THE PLAYERS. THEY MAY NOT GIVE ADVICE. If a complaint is received about a
competitor receiving advice from the gallery, that player may be disqualified from the round.

Most Common Rules

OUT OF BOUNDS: As marked by white boundary stakes at all courses. If a ball is lost or is out of
bounds, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot
from which the original ball was last played.
WRONG BALL: If a competitor makes a stroke or strokes at a wrong ball that is not in a hazard, she
incurs a penalty of two strokes. Strokes made by a competitor with a wrong ball do not
count in her score. If the wrong ball belongs to another competitor, its owner must place a ball on
the spot from which the wrong ball was first played.
LATERAL HAZARD: Rule 26-1 If a ball is in a water hazard (defined by yellow stakes or lines), the
player may under penalty of one stroke:
1) Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played;
2) Drop a ball behind the water hazard, keeping the point at which the original ball last crossed the
margin of the water hazard directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped,
with no limit to how far behind the water hazard the ball may be dropped;
3) If the ball is in a lateral water hazard (defined by red stakes or lines), the player has this additional
option: Drop a ball outside the water hazard within two club-lengths of and not nearer the hole
than
a) the point where the original ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard, or
b) a point on the opposite margin of the water hazard equidistant from the hole. The ball may be
lifted and cleaned when proceeding under this Rule.
NOTE: Special lateral hazard rule for Hole #6 - Yankee Hill Country Club

UNPLAYABLE LIE: If a player deems her ball to be unplayable, she must, under penalty of one stroke:
1) Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played;
2) Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the
spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped;
3) Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole. The ball may
be lifted and cleaned when proceeding under this Rule.
THESE ARE ONLY A FEW OF THE RULES OF GOLF. WE TRUST THAT ALL COMPETITORS WILL BE FAMILIAR
WITH AND WILL COMPLY WITH THE USGA RULES OF GOLF.

USGA Rules will govern all play.
Tees: All play will be from the Red Tees.

penalty for a ball out of bounds is stroke and distance, you must rehit the ball from the last
position with a 1 shot penalty.
Hazards: All hazards are marked properly through the course; all ground under repair is
marked as well. If you have any question follow Rule 3-3 as listed below. Lateral Hazards
(#6, #10, #14, #15, #16) are marked with Red Stakes or Paint, Water Hazards (#15 and
#17) by Yellow Stakes or paint. If your ball is in a Water Hazard (#15, #17) you may rehit
the ball from the last position, Drop a ball behind the hazard keeping the point the ball
crossed the hazard line between you and the hole with no limit as to how far back you may
go. Penalty: 1 Shot. Another option is available if the hazard is a lateral hazard, you can
drop a ball outside the hazard within two club lengths of the hazard no nearer the hole,
again with a 1 shot penalty.

where the mowed grass stops.

unplayable lie with a one stroke penalty.

Hole #6 - Lake on hole #6 is marked as a Lateral Hazard" - You may use the drop area
which will be on the green side of the pond ONLY after you have hit 2 balls into the
hazard. You will have a one stroke penalty for each ball in the hazard. For example, if
you hit a safe drive and then you proceed to hit 2 balls into the water, you may drop on
