1 Overview

As part of the contract between YTL and MOE for 1 Bestari Net, YTL needs to provide a way to
download and install the Anti-Virus and Patch management clients from the internet.
The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive guide for Anti-Virus (Symantec Endpoint
Protection) and Patch Management (Altiris Management Agent) installation for MOE.
The computers installed with these clients will be able to download the latest anti-virus
signature and patches only if they are in the 1 Bestari Network i.e. inside the schools.

2 Symantec (Altiris) Patch Management Agent
2.1 Go to http://alms.ytleducation.com.my/Altiris/NS/Agent/SymantecAgent.html to
download the Altiris Management Agent setup file to local disk.

Click on the Run button as shown above.

2.2 Ignore the SMA.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your
computer warning message from window 7 as shown in figure 2.

and click on the Actions button to continue.
2.3 Window 7 will pop up SmartScreen Filter window as shown in figure 3. Click on
More Options to continue

2.4 Click on Run anyway in SmartScreen Filter pop up window as shown in figure 4
to continue

Altiris Management Agent is being installed after user reply Yes option to install as shown in figure 5

Once installation finish, a successful installations of Altiris Management Agent window pop up as
shown in figure 6.

3 Symantec Endpoint Protection
3.1 The Anti-Virus should be installed after checking if the operating system on the
desktop/laptop is 32 bit or 64 bit. This can be checked from Computer >
properties > System type in Windows 7
For a 32 bit computer, go to

3.2 Click on the Run button as shown in figure 7.

3.4 Window 7 will pop up SmartScreen Filter window as shown in figure 9. Click on
More Options to continue

3.5 Click on Run anyway in SmartScreen Filter pop up window as shown in figure 10
to continue.

3.6 Key in the school code in the textbox as shown in figure 11 below and click OK
to continue.

3.7 Symantec EndPoint Protection prompts user to restart his computer as shown
in figure 12. Click on Restart Now button to finish the installation.
