It almost seems unreal;

my family and I have

fnally arrived in Texas. We
have been anxiously
awaiting this day, and at
times it felt as if we just
wouldn't make it here.
Now with glad and
thankful hearts we begin
this new chapter in our
journey of life and
ministry. At this time of
transition, I would like to
take a moment to give
thanks.
I ofer thanks for the gift
of old friends. Without
them we may not have
survived the recent
months of endless
packing, sorting, and
existing in the midst of
chaos. They have
supported us physically by
the labor of their hands.
They have supported us
emotionally through their
gracious words and

actions. When Rene and I have been at our wits end, friends have
literally stood in for us to see that necessary tasks were accomplished. I also give thanks for the
gift of new friends. In the last few months we have been warmly embraced and befriended by
numerous people of the Russell Memorial congregation. Upon our arrival we were simply
overwhelmed by the number of willing hands ready to help us into our new home. Our new friends
here in Wills Point have made us feel at home. For your willingness to welcome us into your
community, we give thanks.
I ofer thanks for new beginnings. The opportunity to explore new possibilities in life is energizing.
We do not know what challenges will come with tomorrow's work in ministry. While we may not
particularly like that uncertainty, we can embrace it with confdence because, in the words of the
old hymn of the church, we know who holds tomorrow. The work of the church is always in God's
hands. As we join together for the work of Christ's church, we can be certain that God holds us in
His divine grace.
Above all else, I give thanks for the faithfulness of our Lord through all that has happened in our
journey here. Through all the trials of moving, through all the unexpected difculties, my family
has been reminded of Christ's shepherding presence with every step we have taken. This
awareness has served as a constant reminder that the Lord has ordered our steps. God has
worked through completely unexpected events to provide for our move to Wills Point. Of this I am
certain, and for this I give thanks. For as long as it is pleasing to God, my family and I are delighted
to be at home among you, serving Jesus for the purpose of the Kingdom.
Thanks be to God; let the journey continue.
