The technology that I have selected for my final project is Goanimate. Goanimate is a visual tool that will enhance the lessons that I present to my pre-k students. Goanimate is a simple way to bring animation and creativity into any classroom. Goanimate has multiple uses in the classroom, but some of the ways that I am going to use it is to teach new vocabulary, during guided reading, digital storytelling, introducing letters and letter-sounds, number identification and host of other skills. You can create simple or complex videos with step by step tutorial.

Criteria 4 Exceptional Standard 3 Acceptable Standard 2 Marginal Standard 1 Poor Standard Instructional Technology's range of integration Technology used is appropriate to multiple content areas and various stages of lesson development. Technology used is appropriate for some content areas and certain stages of lesson development. Technology used is appropriate for few content areas and/or stages of lesson development. Technology used is appropriate for one content area and/or stage of lesson development. Instructional Technology facilitates two-way communication between student and administrator (teacher) Technology design facilitates two-way communication, in both a synchronous and asynchronous setting, between student and administrator. (i.e. instant messaging). Technology design facilitates two-way communication in either a synchronous or asynchronous setting between student and administrator, but not both. (i.e. comments, replies, emails, instant messaging). Technology design facilitates one-way communication in either a synchronous or asynchronous setting between only one of the stakeholders, student or administrator, but not both. Technology design offers no option that facilitates communication between student and administrator. Instructional Technology is autonomous and understandable New users can interact with the technology without running into operating issues or questions. New users can comfortably utilize the technology without asking questions. Software is completely reliable (essentially no flaws). New users can interact with the technology without major questions or conflicts. The functionality of the application is simple and friendly to use. (minor flaws - program may have a minor functionality issue). New users can function the app with step- by-step guidance. Repeat users may ask questions, the application is not autonomous, at times confusing to use. (minor flaws). New users are unable to work the application without major guidance. The app has many flaws or functionality/reliability issues. Instructional Technology allows for concurrent connections All users were able to connect concurrently without a decrease in speed or reloading of page (essentially users were all able to connect simultaneously). All users were able to connect with a segmentation of less than two minutes without a decrease in speed or reloading of page. (minor connection delays). All users were able to connect with a segmentation of less than five minutes with minimal decrease in speed and/or one reloading of page(minor connection delays). A majority of users were ONLY able to connect after a segmentation of over five minutes and/or reloading page several times (major connection delays). Instructional Technology creates a collaborative environment All users can synchronously collaborate and share/edit files with ease. All users can collaborate and have the ability to share/edit files. Users can collaborate but file sharing must be done offline.
Collaboration is limited to chatting or discussion boards. No sharing of files Instructional Technology Ease of Use Site is easy to navigate, help is easy to locate and tools and features are clear and understandable. Site ease of use is appropriate to audience. Site is navigated with minimal difficulty, help is available, tools and features are present, site manageable to audience. Site is difficult to navigate, help is difficult to access or understand, tools and features are difficult to use, site is only usable by audience with guidance Site is impossible to navigate without administrator assistance, help is unavailable, tools and features are minimal or non-existent, site is not appropriate for the intended audience Cost of technology Technology is free with unlimited licenses and access Technology is free with limited licenses and access Technology is not free but is an acceptable cost for the number of licenses required Technology is very expensive for the number of licenses required Accessibility The software complies with all ADA standards and can be read by multiple screen readers without modification. And or the site states there software is ADA compliant The software can be read by Google doc software for accessibility The software states that its ADA compliant or designed for accessibility The software does not state their accessibility standards or state that the web 2.0 tool is ADA accessible.
A brief lesson incorporating the technology you selected
Objective: Students will recognize and read sight words Prior to having students read text using Goanimate, students will do the following: Students will read sight words on the word wall daily Students will take home a reader that uses the sight words daily for practice Students will read sentences on Goanimate.
Each day the students will read a story on Goanimate. The characters will change, and I will add a new set of rhyming pictures. The vocabulary will only consist of words that have been introduced to the students. *This will be used in the second six weeks of school, because the students will not understand sentence structure. However, it is imperative that they become familiar with words, are exposed to books, and begin the reading process in Pre-k.
Assessment: The students will demonstrate their ability to recognize and correctly say each word that flashes across the screen. Students will be allowed 5 seconds to say the word.
