HR Department at Ali Akbar Group is responsible for organizational development and
stream lining the management functions through effective HR planning regarding
demand and supply of employees and forecasting for these practices.
Following are the different situations for which Ali Akbar Group carries out different
human resource planning.

Recruitment Process:
Requisition
The process begins with a requisition given by the line managers to the HR
department according to their needs. GM approves the requisitions for an executives
post & the Director approves the requisitions for the managers post.
Internal Recruitment
In the case of internal recruitment people from within the organization are promoted
to fill the vacant Position. The HR department and the relevant department, in which
the vacancy exists, analyze whether there is an employee within the organization,
who most appropriately meets the requirements of the particular vacancy. If more
than one employee is eligible for the vacancy; then that employee is chosen who has
the most outstanding record. After the promotion the employee may be sent for
further training. The effect of internal recruitment is that it motivates the employee
to perform their best and produce maximum output. It also creates a healthy
competition amongst the employees.

External Recruitment
If the organization feels that none of their current employees can fill out the new
vacancy then they hire from external sources.
Direct Applicants
Ali Akbar Group maintains a CV data bank for its internal employees as well as the
employees which they will recruit in near future. In some cases certain people just
drop their CVs at the head office. And whenever there is an opening or a vacancy
occurs, the organization may call them for an interview.
Referrals

candidates.
Selection Process:
Selection process involves screening of candidates by which best suitable person is
chosen for a vacant post from a pool of candidates. The main objective of the
selection process is to choose the right person for the right job.
The selection process typically consists of eight steps:
1. Preliminary interview: The first step in the selection process involves
screening of candidates by initial interview and short-listing the list of candidates.
This interview is conducted by the manager of recruitment & selection.

2. Employment tests: Performance simulation test (job behavior), In order to test
the aptitude of candidates.
a. Work sampling (In order to check their skills for the prescribed job)
b. Assessment centers (In order to evaluate candidates individual and group
performance)

3. Comprehensive interview: This interview involves a face-to-face meeting of
the line manager or the GM/Director with the candidate.

4. Background investigation: Verification and investigation from the application
form about the backgrounds like:
a. Former employers
b. Previous job performance
c. Education
d. Legal status to work
e. Criminal records

5. Conditional job offer: Job is offered on probationer bases for certain period of
time. After fulfillment of certain conditions and successful performance in that period
the tentative job may becomes permanent.

6. Final selection: Individuals who perform successfully in preceding steps are
now considered eligible to receive the employment offer

7. Appointment Letter: Individuals who have been selected are given their
appointment letters. To become a permanent member of the organization, they are
required to complete probation of three months. Candidates who are hired at the
entry level or as an MTO are required to complete probation of six months.

8. Orientation: Candidates are not given any hand-books. Instead, a personal
face-to-face meeting or an introduction with the other workers is arranged.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS
Performance appraisal is the assessment of an individuals performance in a
systematic way, in which the performance is being measured against such factors i-e
job knowledge, quality & quantity of output, initiative, leadership abilities, co-
operation, judgment, loyalty etc. Assessment should not be confined to past
performance alone.
