Rationale: I decided to look at the Stakeholder Analysis using the lens of our current 1:1 Initiative in Hilliard Schools. ur ne! Su"erintendent started a su#$co%%ittee to analy&e if !ere ready to start a 1:1 'lended (earning Initiative and "ossi#ly "ut a device in the hands of every student in the district. I thought this !as a ne! initiative and needs the su""ort of all stakeholders. I sat on our )istrict 1:1 'lended (earning Su#$*o%%ittee as an ele%entary re"resentative so this infor%ation is fro% our findings after a + %onth "rocess including surveys, school$site visits, feed#ack nights, to!n hall %eetings, etc.
Stakeholder Stakeholder Interest-s. in the /ro0ect Assess%ent of I%"act /otential Strategies for #taining Su""ort or Reducing #stacles Students Very excited to have new technology in their hands Representatives serve on the sub-committee and get their feedback on a possible 1:1 Initiative Participate in visiting school districts and schools which have the 1:1 Initiative Teachers !"#-!"# $plit giving students devices to use in the classroom* negative view of technology* +students will ,ust play on it all day long- and +they will get broken- %his group is also not on board because many of the staff have varying experience with technology and applications %hey look at the logistics of kids getting their devices stolen and it taints their positive view 'ifferentiation is a must for these teachers because their technology skills are limited in general /arents %he ma,ority of parents want their child to have devices for in school and take home use %hey are %his will be a very important the beginning survey /ontinue to work with this important group of stakeholders to keep them on your side meetings to get parent feedback to create timelines for roll-out 0old many parent and student %echnology 1ights to provide support and P' for the applications used in school /rinci"als %he elementary principal2s responses in a planning meeting really surprised me %here was probably !"# in favor of 1:1 at the elementary level .iddle and high school principals were in favor %he impact of not having elementary support is huge and this is why ultimately the team decided to start with 3rade 4 and work up to 3rade 1) in the next three years %hey are also very concerned about building capacity with classroom teachers $how them 1:1 successes at the elementary level in like- districts 5et them visit school districts and schools which have the 1:1 Initiative to see it firsthand 0ave a group of administrators be instrumental in planning the P' for teachers 3ive them a device to build their own capacity and help them receive P' they can use with their own teachers back at the building IT )e"art%ent %he key and most integral group needed to support this initiative %hey are needed from the inception to the final roll-out of technology %hey are on board and they helped in many ways create the survey and town hall meetings for admin6 teachers6 parents and students %hey worked very hard at presenting the mission for the I% department and our district using various social media and media releases %his group is cohesive and forward thinking %hey think proactively and they are all on the same page with P' %eachers and staff view this team in such a positive light which is greatly important for this initiative %hey will share with all stakeholders the benefits for student achievement based on other district2s data *entral ffice Me%#ers %his was their original idea and they are in full support of this 1:1 Initiative %he 'irectors of 7lementary team will need support since this team is not in support %reasurer and treasurer2s office opinion is crucial to the success of this initiative (lso6 all 'irectors in the /urriculum 'epartments must have a vested interest 5et them visit school districts and schools which have the 1:1 Initiative 'iscuss fiscal plans presented from like-districts with similar demographics and look at the fiscal responsibilities and fiscal data from other districts 'oard of 1ducation %hey are highly interested and see the value of 3lobal /ompetencies as stated in our new .ission %hey have been a strong voice with parents and community members %hey have shared through social media and our website many ideas and insights into this initiative %heir positive support particularly be needed as we roll-out to the community and taxpayers our 1:1 Initiative (s the $uperintendent6 I need these stakeholders to support this and continue to be on my side throughout this ,ourney I will keep them updated throughout the process and share with them all financial and planning aspects 8ltimately6 they will need to approve the final budget of purchasing all devices so their support is crucial to this successful initiative *o%%unity Me%#ers !ith no students in district %hey believe in our schools and they support this initiative 9e will need to share our .ission and Vision of 3lobal /ompetencies throughout town hall meetings6 parent informational nights6 and social media Invite them to visit 1:1 schools that are successful in the public eye Invite them to all town hall meetings for parents and students :nce the 1:1 Initiative begins6 send these stakeholders photos6 success stories6 and data that supports student achievement *onnections to the Readings: (fter reading6 +Identifying and Analyzing Stakeholders and Their Interests-6 it becomes very clear that there are Primary6 $econdary6 and ;ey $takeholders included in my analysis %he "ri%ary stakeholders include the students and the teachers %he 1:1 Initiative directly affects both of these stakeholders positively and<or negatively and they are impacted the most by this change %he secondary stakeholders are indirectly affected and would include central office members6 parents6 and the board of education %he key stakeholders would include the I% department6 the principals6 and the treasurer2s office %he reason they are included in this group is in the article it states that +these people are important in an agency or group in their engagement in an effort + %he article continues to discuss why this impacts each of the stakeholders and the biggest interest in my mind is TIM1 I believe that all of the educational stakeholders listed are concerned with the time that they will need to invest in making this initiative successful %eachers6 support staff6 central office members6 are most concerned that it will take time form their instructional day to receive professional development Parents6 central office members6 members of the community are also concerned about Safety and Security of these devices and their students when they carry them home %hey genuinely are unsure how these students will keep these devices safe and that there are no repercussions from carrying expensive devices to and from school =inally6 the main concern and interest of the treasurer6 superintendent6 and board members include Money (s always6 with great and new initiatives there seems to be a direct correlation to the amount of money is spent in the implementation stage
