Robert Sowerby
ProfessionalCourses Director
Robert began teaching in 1990 and has taught in London as well as many other
locations around the world. His specialist areas are management, cost accounting
and nancial management. Robert teaches with a passion and enthusiasm that
never fails to bring the ACCA study programme to life.
Francis Braganza
Senior Tutor
Francis has more than 30 years of global experience in teaching nancial analysis.
He was awarded the National Lecturer of the Year prize in 2004 by PQ magazine
and received nominations from FTC for Lecturer of the Year in both 2005 and
2007. Francis has a detailed, up-to-date understanding of the industry and for this
reason he has had numerous articles published in leading accountancy journals.
Martin Jones
Senior Tutor
Working as an accountancy practitioner for 7 years, principally with
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Martin has gathered a wealth of knowledge and
experience and is considered an expert in audit and nancial reporting. Martin
began teaching in 1994 and was a founding partner of FTC.

Carolyn Napier
Senior Tutor
Formerly a chemistry academic, Carolyn trained as a chartered accountant, gaining
the ACCA qualication before moving into professional training. Having dedicated
more than 20 years to lecturing, Carolyn is one of LSBFs most experienced tutors
and a widely respected authority in both general and advanced taxation.
David Laws
Senior Tutor
More than 10 years of lecturing experience has made David a key asset to LSBFs
accounting department. Having been awarded MSc and BSc degrees from
Washington State and Hull University respectively, David has a strong academic
background coupled with an international perspective.
Debbie Crossman
Senior Tutor
Debbie has been teaching for almost 30 years, along the way helping untold
numbers of students achieve the careers they aspire to. Her dedication and
ethusiasm have made her a favourite among law students.
Paul Merrison
Senior Tutor
An ICAEW member, Paul has been teaching accountancy students for 16 years.
He has also been an examiner, and was Head of Training for a rm of UK Chartered
Accountants. He has taught in many countries and has specialised in audit, eithics
and coporate governance. Paul is renowed for being able to inspire interest in
subjects that many students previously regarded as mundane or dicult to study.
Each tutor gives personalised feedback by identifying your strengths and weaknesses and helping you build on both. They

The ACCA
qualication
The Association of Chartered Certied
Accountants (ACCA) sets an international
standard of excellence in accounting and
nance. It awards qualications that are
recognised worldwide by employers across
banking, management and consulting.
Being ACCA accredited opens doors for your
career progression and earning potential. It
also allows you to become a Registered Auditor
and join the ACCA members club giving you
access to a range of advanced professional
development resources.
Registration with ACCA
You should register for exams in your chosen
subjects with ACCA before starting your
course. You must also make sure you meet all
ACCA entry requirements including two
A Levels and three GCSEs or equivalent in ve
separate subjects.
Your entry route will also depend on your
age and academic qualications. For instance,
degree holders from ACCA-accredited
institutions may be exempt from up
to 9 exams.

Exams
To qualify for ACCA certication and membership, you will need to pass 14
papers. You must proceed through the 4 levels in order, but papers within
each level may be taken in any order.
You will be able to register for examinations (either computer or paper
based) at ACCAs worldwide centres twice a year. You may sit a maximum
of 4 papers at once.

It will take a minimum of 2 years, and up to 10 years, to complete all
your examinations and gain ACCA membership. The pass mark for all
examinations is 50%.
