I'm Saved and Can Never Lose My Salvation

Chuck Pace July 14, 2014
1 Peter 1:3-5
3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us
again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead,
4
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that
fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

The inheritance is incorruptible and undefiled and unfading:

(1) Incorruptible means that it can never corrode, crack, or decay. It is
death-proof.

(2) Undefiled means that the inheritance itself is in perfect condition.
No tarnish or stain can dim its purity. It is sin-proof.

(3) That does not fade away means that it can never suffer
variations in value, glory, or beauty. It is time-proof.

Earthly inheritances are uncertain at best. Sometimes the value of
an estate drops sharply because of market declines.

Sometimes wills are successfully contested by parties not mentioned in
them. Sometimes people are deprived of an inheritance because of legal
technicalities.

2

But this divine inheritance is not subject to any of the changes of
time, and there are no loopholes in the believers title to it. It is kept in
the safety-vault of heaven for the child of God.

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
What part of "kept" do you have a problem with?
Kept by what? By the power of God.
What is kept? Well, the "Who" is being kept...
What is the word "who" referring to in this verse? Verse 4 ends
with "reserved in heaven for you"....the "who" is non-other than
you, if you have been born again, saved by the blood of our Lord
Christ Jesus shed for you on the cross.
McGee: The story is told of a Scotsman, who was typically
economical, leaving instructions that only one word should be engraved
upon his tombstone (Each letter engraved costs more money).
But that one word, taken from this verse, is one of the greatest I
know. It was the single word KEPT. He was kept by the power of God
through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The apostle Paul said the same thing: Being confident of this very
thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the
day of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:6).

Folks, do you think He can keep you? Oh, I am tired of the
emphasis being put on the work of the flesh. We are being told that if
we follow some little set of rules, we can become adequate
Christians.

McGee says, My friend, let me add a strong statement that may startle
you: You cannot live the Christian life!
Perhaps you are asking, Do you really mean that? Yes, I do.
I would challenge you to show me a verse or any Scripture where God
has asked you to live the Christian life. He has never done that.
I have an old nature, and that old nature will be with me as long as I
am on this earth. Sometimes that old nature really shows.
I have a bad temper that flares at times. I say things even to my
wonderful wife so that I must go later and make up with her. I take her in
my arms and tell her Im sorry for what I said. She forgives me, and it is
always wonderful to make up, you know.
However I still have an old nature-and you do, too. And neither of us
can change our old natures by trying to follow a little set of rules.
We can no more change that old nature than we can take a gallon of
perfume out to the barnyard, pour it on a pile of manure, and make it as
fragrant as a bed of roses. My friend, you have that old nature, and you
cannot change it.
The only way in the world that you can live the Christian life is by
the power of the Holy Spirit and by the fact that you are kept by the
power of Godright on through until the day when you will be
delivered to Him in heaven. As we are going to see, it all has to do with a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The believer is saved; he and she are being saved daily (through
sanctification); and he and she will be saved completely when Christ
returns.
Turn your bibles to Romans 8:15-25...we need to see this...
15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye
have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children
of God:
17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation
of the sons of God.
20
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason
of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of
corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain
together until now.
23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of our body.
24
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what
a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
5

The "redemption of our body" - we will be saved completely when
Christ returns.
The end (completion, perfection) of our faith will be the complete
salvation of the believer (will see that in v. 9), who will inherit a new
body.
3

Now, while our bibles are still open, skip down 6 verses to:
Romans 8:31-39
31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be
against us?
32
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how
shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth.
34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is
risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us.
35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him
that loved us.
38
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present (now - our sins), nor
things to come,

Testament (p. 741). Wheaton, IL: Victor Books.

39
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
After reading all this, don't you think Christ's blood was and is
enough to save us and keep us saved?
Folks, I could have never been good enough or have done enough
good things and works to earn my salvation.....If I could lose my
salvation by sinning then how would I get it back...would I have
to then earn it. Why would anyone want to live like that? We
must confess our sins and ask God to forgive us of our sins to
maintain our fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ which is the
clear context of 1 John chapter 1.
I do and will always believe this....
If you are not sure of your salvation or have never asked the Lord
Jesus to save you, read further here......

I Know I Am Going to Heaven, Do You?
I am going to heaven when I die and know it.I dont hope I am,
I KNOW I am.how? The Bible tells me so.
1 John 5:13 says, These things have I written unto you that
believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye
have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son
of God.
Do you only hope you are going to heaven? Do you want to know
for sure you are?
In your own simple way pray this short prayer asking Jesus to
save you now: Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need your
salvation. I am so sorry for my sins and ask you to forgive me. I
know and believe that you died for me and rose from the grave
and I ask you to save me now. I invite you into my heart, right
7

now, and I want to know for sure I will go to heaven when I die.
Thank you for saving my soul.
If you prayed that prayer and really meant it, the Bible says you
are saved and you now know you are going to heaven. Find a
