Analysis of Senate Filings: Republicans Have 3:1 Cash Advantage


58 of the Senates 61 incumbents had July 15th campaign finance disclosure reports on the Board of
Elections website as of 11:10 this morning.1 While final totals will change as more reports filter in, it is
possible at this point to provide a general overview of how the different conferences stand in the battle
for campaign funds.

Republicans and their committees have $19.7 million in the bank; Democrats, $6.1 million; IDC
members, $4.4 million.

Republicans reported total receipts of $8.7 million; Democrats, $5.9 million; IDC members, $1.8
million.

Senators Skelos and Klein have the largest war chests. Among Democrats, John Liu and Carl
Kruger2 have the largest balances in their Senate committees.

Candidates with largest current balances


Senator Skelos currently has more money in the bank than any other senator. Among Democrats, the
two committees with the largest warchests belong to non-incumbents: John Liu and Carl Kruger.
Despite leaving office in 2002 and passing away in June, former Senator Roy Goodman retains the #20
position on this list.
