Abstract
Unexploded ordnance (UXO) buried in the seafloor is a great threat to the environment and the ocean exploitation. It is important
to find and locate these UXO, so that we can remove them and make a safer living environment. In this paper, we presented a 1-D
electrimagnetic model to detect UXO. It is shown that when the horizontal range is about 500-1000m and frequency is around
10Hz, strong anomalous signals were observed. This result indicated that it is an effective method to detective UXO buried in the
seafloor with electricmagnetic approach. The presented work provides a theoretical basis for designing the underwater
UXO-detecting instrument based on electromagnetic fields.
