PERSONNEL:

This week I officially provided the City a
letter of retirement. My last day with the
City will be Friday, August 8, 2014.

Staff worked on employee performance
evaluations during the week.

PATROL/DETECTIVES:

On Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13,
the department received multiple vandalism
complaints around Carlton Avenue in the
300 through 1000 blocks. Officers noted that
several items, including cars, had been
painted. More than 30 cars were vandalized.
The paint appears to be a light tan color
from a can and not spray paint. Officers
went door to door waking residents as the
paint was still wet asking them to wash their
cars and property so as to not further
damage it. The department is asking for the
public's help. Anyone having information
regarding the vandalism is asked to contact
our office at 218-879-1247 or through our
social network sites, Nixle tool via our
Facebook page or by texting "cloquetpd" to
888-777 on your cell phone.

In the early morning hours on Tuesday,
officers responded to the Savanna Pallet
Company where it was reported that an
employee witnessed a former employee
jump the chain-link fence onto the business
property. The witness confronted the man
who then ran to his vehicle driving
away towards 14
th
Street. The witness
then noticed one of the garage doors to
the business was open and that pieces
of steel had been moved and pushed
through the fence. Through the
investigation officers were able to
identify a residence in the City of
Cloquet where they spoke to the
suspect's girlfriend who told them that
her boyfriend was in the basement of
the residence. Officers entered the
home where they found the suspect in
the the basement hiding under a fuel
tank.

The suspect was arrested and taken to
the Carlton County Law Enforcement
Center. A search warrant was obtained
for the residence by detectives and
they were able to locate several items
taken during a previously reported
burglary at Savanna Pallet in June of
2014. The suspect, a 30-year-old
Cloquet man, was formally charged
with Burglary in the Third Degree and
Felony Theft.

If you have any questions about the
information provided, feel free to

Respectfully Submitted,

Terry Hill
